MARCH 2012 – ISSUE 02 IMPORTANT DATES Friday 30th March Last day of Term 1 Monday 16th April First day of Term 2 Thursday 19th April Golf day Wednesday 25th April ANZAC day Thursday 3rd May • Open day 2pm to 7pm Saturday 12th May • SEAL Exam SEAL registration link now open You can imagine the excitement of our Year 8 students as they prepared for their first ever inter school debating competition. Two teams competed in Round 1 of the Senior Schools Debating Program and the night was a resounding success. I was particularly impressed that we had students named as best speakers in both debates. Inter school debating is just one example of the extensive range of extension and enrichment programs that we are running at APC under the banner of the Inspire program. The Inspire program was launched in term one this year under the leadership of Brett Gilbert. Our aim is to get every student to commit to this program as it builds their connection to the school and gives them the opportunity to delve deeply into an area of interest. The Inspire program runs across the school day-including before, during and after school and enhances the mainstream programs in the school. Many parents are already familiar with our highly successful Basketball Academy, the Instrumental Music Program and the Wednesday night Homework Club. This year we have expanded the Inspire program to cater for a broader range of student choice. Continued overleaf
