Edition 3, 7th March, 2019
Fun with the paramedics! On Wednesday, F/1A had a visit from some special community helpers! Two paramedics, Tess and Belinda
came to show us their ambulance, and teach us how to dial 000 in an emergency. F/1A has been learning all
about how community helpers look after everyone, and we loved using some of the equipment from the
ambulance!
We all got to take a tour of the ambulance with Belinda, tried out the stretcher and got to sit in the
driver’s seat. Then with Tess we saw our heart rates (which went up when we ran on the spot!), practised
using bandages and got our temperatures taken; we were all healthy, even though it was very cold!
Lastly, we all got to see the lights and sirens on the ambulance! It was such a fun morning, and we were so
lucky to have the paramedics visit us. Thank you so much Tess and Belinda!

Knox Central Swim Team On Thursday the 21st of February, the Knox Central Swim Team competed in the
Bayswater District Swimming Carnival. Seven schools competed in the
competition. The team had a fantastic day, despite the weather being a bit cold in
the morning. Our team came third overall, and won the modified Swimming
Shield! This is a huge accomplishment for our school, and a wonderful
achievement by the dedicated swim team members. We even have 9 students
who will be progressing onto the Knox Division Swimming Carnival on
Wednesday the 6th of March. Best of luck to the students who will represent our
school at the next level of competition!

A note for Parents and Carers
To help us reduce the interruptions to our learning time we encourage parents to remember the following:
The classroom doors are open at 8.50am – 9.00am and 3.30pm – 3.45pm. You are welcome to
visit the classroom at this time to chat to the classroom teacher and look at your child’s work. If you
would like a longer time to speak to the teacher please pop in to arrange a suitable time or
communicate your request through the Student Diary.
Please drop lunches or other forgotten items to the office and we will arrange for them to get to your
child.
If you are picking your child up early, you must come to the office to sign them out. The office staff
will then make an announcement for your child to meet you at the office with their bag.
The student diaries are an excellent way to communicate to the class teachers. You are also more
than welcome to send an email to the school ([email protected]) or Lisa
([email protected]) and we can pass the message on.
As many of you would already know due to budget constraints we have to say good-bye and good luck to
Miss Marshall on Friday. Miss Marshall has made a big impression on the students and teachers and we
will miss her greatly. From Tuesday Miss Southern will be taking all the grade 2/3 students.
