Objectives• Syllabus Highlights • Handout books• Nature of Science Quiz Answers

Assignment• Research assigned statement and find more evidence

supporting whether the statement is true or false.

Syllabus• Restroom Policy• Classroom instruction is very important and that is why it is

imperative that you are in the classroom as much as possible. You may not use the restroom for the first and last five minutes of class. You may use the restroom during class if it is an emergency. Pretend that you are in a car on a trip and you have to use the restroom could you hold it until your next rest area?

Retake Policy

• Students can retake an assessment up until one week after receiving the assessment back. Students will need to complete a retake form in order to retake an assessment. Students will take a new assessment and they will receive the new grade even if it is lower than the original grade.

Homework Policy

• Students must redo homework within two days of receiving the homework back or from being checked in class if they would like a higher grade. In order to receive credit students will write out the question they missed and the correct answer to the question on a separate sheet of paper and attach this to the original assignment. The highest grade you can receive on a “homework” redo is 83% or “C”.

Books• I will dismiss you by columns to pick up a textbook and a Stuff

Matters book from the lab table. • After you sit back down write your name on the front left

inside cover. In the Stuff Matters book there should be a label with a number on it. In the textbook write your name in the normal spot.

• When I call your name give me the label number for the textbook and the label number for the Stuff Matters book.

What are the three domains of science? • A body of knowledge• A set of methods/processes • A way of knowing

Nature of Science Quiz • Your group will be responsible for researching the two

statements that I assign you. Tomorrow you will have some class time to prepare your thoughts. You will share your evidence with the class as to why the statement is true and why it is false. You may use the article and/or the internet.

Closing• Keep researching your two statements tonight. Come

prepared to share with your group tomorrow. • Make sure desks are aligned and clean up your area.
