English Alternative BandNOTHING BUT THIEVES performs at the Kia Theatre on January 21!

English band Nothing But Thieves gained the respect from pillars of the modern rock community – among them Muse, who took them out as support band on their 2016 arena tour.

Nothing But Thieves consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Conor Mason, guitarist Joe Langridge-Brown, guitarist and keyboardist Dominic Craik, bassist Philip Blake, and drummer James Price. The alternative rock band’s music celebrates eclecticism and songcraft. “We weren’t setting out to write something completely different, but I would say we experimented more, tried to push the boundaries, tried to capture something that pushed us outside of our comfort zone,” says guitarist Dom Kraik. “If a song made us feel a bit odd, that’s good.” In fact, it’s that spirit that motivates them. “The mantra of the band is to not regurgitate any ideas,” says frontman Conor Mason.

Less of a consideration is whether their songs are arena-ready anthems, despite road testing their last collection while on tour with Muse. That, they say, will come naturally. “It shouldn’t be a conscious thing to write those kinds of songs. Sorry and

Actually, say the band, they hope simply to keep growing as they have in those incredible two years since their debut. Their main goal is more noble. “We’re a guitar band with a really modern take on music,” says Conor. “We’re trying to be on the forefront. We play guitars, but we’re not a rock band in the traditional way, because we’re trying to modernise and push the boundaries of what you’re supposed to sound like as a band.”

Benilde Dance Program producesBENEATH (Stage play)

MANILA - Produced by Benilde’s Dance Program and in collaboration with Team Elite and Team Package Makers, Beneath is a thesis dance theater production of Carlos G. Serrano III, who is both the director and producer of the play, and currently taking Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance at Benilde. This production will show dance performances about the unexplored familiar in the society. The show aims to inspire and educate on the reality of the interrelation of things that people experience every day and often go unnoticed that this reciprocal relation all boils down to one root cause.

The theme is inspired by the marginalized, underprivileged, and underrepresented sectors of the society such as women and children, LGBT, senior citizens, farmers, fisherfolk, persons with disability and those living in informal settlements. These types of people have the same needs as much as what dance needs as well - the need to be seen and be felt. The event will be graced and be given with full entertainment through featuring different homegrown renowned artists.

The impending eviction incite to anger and disorder among the tenants of the land. The property owner is now facing the challenge to decide what measures to be done to solve the issue. Will this situation stir his compassion for the tenants or will he let his personal interest blind him?

Performances will be at the SDA Theater, Fifth Floor, School of Design and Arts Campus, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. Show dates will be from Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1 PM and 7 PM to December 2, 2017 at 1 PM to 7 PM.
