The rates of Variable Dearness Allowance for workers employed inCONSTRUCTION OR MAINTENANCE OF ROADS OR RUNWAYS OR INBUILDING OPERATIONS INCLUDING LAYING DOWN UNDERGROUNDELECTRIC, WIRELESS, RADIO, TELEVISION, TELEPHONE,TELEGRAPHAND OVERSEAS COMMUNICATION CABLES AND SIMILAR OTHERUNDERGROUND CABLING WORK, ELECTRIC LINES, WATER SUPPLY LINESAND SEWERAGE PIPE LINES.

Therefore, the minimum rates of wages including the basic rates and VariableDearness Allowance payable w.e.f. 0l .O4.2O17 to the employees u'ould be asunder:-

Explanation: For the purposes ofthe notification,-

(a) Area "A" and Area "B" as iodicatcd in Amexu-e to this Dotificatio[ shall rcspectivcly con,prisc all thcplaces as specified in the said Annexure as such areas, and include all places within a distancc of fifteenkilometers from the periphery of a Municipal Corporation or Muhicipality or CantoBmenl Board orNotified Area Committce of a particular place Arca "C" shall comprisc of all the other places notmcntioncd in Area 'A" and "8" of the Anncxurc and to which the Minimum Wages Act. 1948 ( I I ofI94lj) extends;

(b) the places added or upgraded liom time lo ri e by the Ministry ofFinance fbr the purpose ofpaynent ofIlouse Rcnt Allowance to Central Covemmcnt cn,ployees sha be taken to be added from the dalc ofsuch addition or up-gradation for the purposcs ofclassification specified in Annexre to this notification;

(c) where the existing rates of wages of any employee based on conhaot or agrcement or otherwise are

higher than the rates notified herein, the higher rates shall be protected and treated as minimum lates ofwages, applicable fo! the purpose ofthis notification to such employces;

(d) the minimum rates of wages include the wages lbr weekly day of rest;

(e) the minimum rates ofwages are applicable to employees employed by contractors also;

(f) the mioimum rates of waSes lbr disabled persons shall be the same as payable to the workers ofappropriate category;

. (g) the men, women and transgeflder emp]oyees shall be entitled for the same mtes of wages for the same, work or wolk ofsinlilar nature:

(h) the minimum rates of wages and Variable Dearness Allowance both constitutc the minimum rates ofwages to be cnforceable under the Minjrnum Wages Act, l9a8(1I of 1948).
