Project Goals
Engage key sectors of the tourism industry – hotels, hotels, tour operators and cruise tour operators and cruise
lineslines – to significantly reduce the industry’s
environmental footprint and maximize its contributions
to the protection of the Mesoamerican Reef.

MARTI is working with governments, cruise lines, private
sector and civil society to improve destination-level management of

Results CI facilitated a series of participatory
planning workshops, bringing together for bringing together for the first time everthe first time ever key cruise tourism stakeholders to define high priority issues related to cruise ship visitation, and recommendations for addressing these issues through collective actioncollective action.
