It's been over 20 years since we started

the first steps to make the lives of the

most disadvantaged orphans - orphans

with disabilities better. We have

become more experienced and wiser and have grown significantly.

In 2016 we moved to a new level of work; for the first time we held

a conference with International participation "Innovative

practices of working with children with disabilities, including

children with severe multiple developmental disabilities."

More than 180 specialists of different departments showed interest

to our methods of working with "bed ridden" children. This has

allowed us to significantly expand the opportunities for training and

development of seriously ill children. At the seminar, we trained

more than 40 specialists of orphanages in Moscow in effective

methods and approaches of working with children with severe

developmental disorders. We had support for our Conference from:

Potyaeva Tatyana, the Ombudsman for Human Rights in

Moscow, and the representative of the Office of Ombudsman

Batysheva Tatyana, Director of the Scientific and Practical

Center for Child Psychoneurology of the Moscow City Health

Department.

Also; Chief Specialist for Children's Rehabilitation of the Ministry

of Health of the Russian Federation, Chief Freelance Specialist of

the Moscow City Department of Children's Neurology, Deputy of

the Moscow City Duma, President of the National of the Moscow

City Duma, President of the National Association of Experts on

Cerebral Palsy and Associated Diseases, Doctor of Medical

Sciences, Professor Honored Doctor of Russia, Member of

the Presidium of the All-Russian Society of Neurologists,

Expert of the European Academy of Childhood Disability

and the opportunity to raise funds to help children.

We sadly remember with sadness the passing of Anna

Krykoslavenskaya, Lucja Popenko and Alexander Pilko - they

were talented artists and our trustees and contributors for

many years. We will always remember the invaluable

contribution of these people to improving the quality of life of

children in dire need of help, love and care.

RESULTS IN 2016

In 2016, we provided assistance to orphans with developmental

disabilities and young children with disabilities from 9 institutions.

We sought to improve the quality of their life, using an individual

approach in each case, looking at the characteristics of each child

and taking comprehensive measures. Our experience proves that

even children with very serious disabilities have development

potential and their quality of life can be significantly improved!

HYGIENE MEANS: during the year we collected hygiene products

(soap, toothpaste, shower gels, diapers, wet napkins, etc.), clothes

and toys with Pony Express, A-Promotion, Electronic Arts,

Maria Aglushevich and other donors for the children from the

Center "Faith. Hope. Love", Kimovsk orphanage, Efremov

orphanage-school, Elatma`s orphanage.

CLOTHES, SHOES, TOYS: regularly we transfer clothes, shoes and

toys to children's homes. Especially such assistance is so very much

needed in the regions outside Moscow.

INDIVIDUAL ADAPTATIONS: for a young girl from Psycho-

neurological orphanage #18, Yulia Karimova, we purchased special

pillows and attachments for her movement - they fit her daily life

and give more opportunities to go outside the walls of the

orphanage in her wheel chair. We have known and worked with

Julia since she was 8 years of age. She is now XXX but we cannot

forget her.

BED LINEN: for children from the Pervomaysky orphanage,

Renault bought sets of bed linens for all children - the last time

underwear was purchased was 3 years ago, now the children have

the most beautiful and comfortable new linens and underwear.

HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES: for our children from Kimovsk

orphanage, we purchased home appliances (irons, vacuum

cleaners, TV, washing machine) by our long-time donor Aneta

Korobkina - thanks to this the children were able to adapt to an

independent life better.

EDUCATION: we provided training on social adaptation and

rehabilitation, stationery, books, educational toys and games, goods

for creativity.

HEALTH: continued the projects "Verticalization", "Dog-therapy",

and for the children from the Pervomaysky orphanage we organized

the purchase of vitamins from RN-Bank.

OFFICE SUPPLIES, BOOKS, EDUCATIONAL TOYS AND GAMES,

GOODS FOR CREATIVITY: all this we collected during the year

with the staff of Pony Express, A-Promotion and other donors for

the children from the Center "Faith. Hope. Love", Kimovsk

orphanage, Efremov orphanage-school.

NEW YEAR'S HOLIDAYS: together with the employees of Renault

Russia, we collected individual and group New Year's gifts for the

children from the Pervomaysky orphanage. And with the employees

of Boeing Russia - gifts for the children from the Efremov school.

What there just was not - cars, dolls, puzzles, Lego, designers, kits

for creativity, sneakers, children's joy there was no limit!

EXCURSIONS, HIKES: this year we organized an excursion to the

State Historical Museum for the children from the Kimovsk

orphanage, and a visit to the exhibition of robots for the children

from the Almazovo school, Center "Trust", Kimovsk orphanage and

the Center "Faith. Hope. Love". And for 8 brave young people from

the Psycho-neurological orphanage #11 we paid the way to the Altai

- they went with accompanying people on a multi-day hike. Such

activities are very important for the overall development and social

adaptation of children living in orphanages and boarding schools.

VOLUNTEER ASSISTANCE: Together with volunteers from

Sberbank, we conducted a course of financial literacy in the

Kimovsk orphanage. And during the whole year we carried out

actions to raise funds for hygiene, clothing, books, developing toys, creativity kits, office supplies and much more from companies Pony

Express, Renault Russia, Boeing Russia, A-Promotion and

many others.

VERTICALIZATION

GOAL OF THE PROJECT

The goal of the project is the verticalization of "bed ridden" orphans.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

We pay for work and travel of orthopedists from the federal

center in Moscow to children over 350 km from Moscow

We pay for the daily work of specialists of adaptive physical

education, massage, dressing of orthoses

We pay the costs of hospitalization of orphans from the Ryazan

region to a hospital in Moscow: we provide nannies, hygiene

products and food

PROJECT RESULTS

17 previously "bed ridden" children from Elatma`s orphanage:

Everyone can stand by themselves, some walk completely

independently, some with support by the hand or with the

walkers

To varying degrees, all the children have strengthened the

muscles of the neck, back, legs, all continue to grow and gain

weight

The children are showing more interest in the world around

them, they became attentive, active, sociable and smiling

13 children from Elatma passed this year for treatment and

rehabilitation in the clinic of the Federal Bureau of Medical and

Social Expertise, two children were operated on their legs

94 children from the Pervomaysky orphanage were examined and a

rehabilitation plan and verticalization work was compiled for 30 children.

DOG THERAPY

In 2016, we conducted 11 sessions of canine therapy together with the

project "Sunny Dog" on the basis of the Center for the Promotion of

Family Education "Faith. Hope. Love" in Moscow.

25 children participated in the classes - practically everyone has positive changes:

Children began to feel their body better

Decreases of muscle spasm

Improves coordination of movements

Improves the emotional state

Speech and other communication skills improve

Phobias were gone

Cognitive activity develops

These children have become more independent

SESSIONS ON SOCIAL ADAPTATION AND REHABILITATION

For 4 years now we have been supporting daily sessions on social adaptation

and rehabilitation with the children in Elatma`s orphanage. In 2016, 5

specialists conducted 3,060 sessions with 18 children using the

"Portage" method. Sessions are conducted in this institution since 2006.

And as a result of these many years of painstaking work, children who were

considered hopeless have acquired new skills that were previously

inaccessible to them:

- Wash and dress themselves

- Chew and swallow food, drink by themselves

- Sit and stand independently

- Distinguish colors, count, collect constructors, cut paper

- And many other skills in the field of movement,

cognition, self-service, socialization

Krupskaya sanatorium (Evpatoria).

Gradually, step by step we struggle with

such a disease as cerebral palsy. Children

with this diagnosis cannot recover from a

single course of treatment or surgery.

"When in 2010 we got to the center, Sasha could only lie on

her back, she constantly cried, she did not speak. As a result

of working with the specialists of Family Center, Sasha's

psycho-emotional state was normalized (she adequately

perceives what is happening around, discerns people's speech,

fulfills my requests, controls her emotions), Sasha became

very mobile (she learned to turn over, sit down, move on all

fours, get off the bed, actively works with 2 hands). In her

speech, Sasha became more emotional. If before she did not

utter a sound, then during the lessons our daughter constantly

has new sounds and words. And most importantly: if before

Sasha was afraid to talk, now she had a need for speech.

Sasha is very used to her teachers, she always looks forward

to them and is very happy with their coming!!!

Classes with specialists from the Center - this is the only

opportunity to study, because this center employs specialists

who are able and are not afraid to work with our children. "

(17 years old, cerebral palsy)

“The doctors said that Masha would never speak,

understand or walk. But at 5 years Masha began to receive

help in visiting the Diema’s Dream Family Center.

At that moment, Masha could stand and sit with support,

saying "yes", "no", "dad", "mom", "baba", "give", "on" and

understood the spoken speech.

Thanks to the Fund, Masha began to attend not only

classes, but also children's events and events. There was a

dialogue with the kids. All this was very favorably on her,

Masha developed speech.

At age 10, together with a speech therapist from the Family

Center, Masha began to prepare for school. At 12, Masha

went to the 1st grade of the correctional school of the

8th kind! The school is given to Masha not easily, but she

does not give up. Masha writes hand in hand, reads stories

by syllables, solves examples on addition and subtraction.

Now she says everything: she expresses her thoughts, tells

stories and loves to talk with her grandmother on the

phone.

Thanks to the exercises of LFK, Masha can stand and walk a

bit with support, roll over and crawl a bit, using a ceiling lift

Masha crawls and can sit on a stool at the table. Masha has

learned to fully control the tablet, can call, correspond with

it, etc. Friends and family are all very pleased with such

results and are confident that with the help of further

studies Masha will surprise us with her new achievements

and successes!”

TAKE A STEP PROGRAM


Assistance in changing and improving the quality of life of children

with congenital and acquired disabilities of physical development

by financing medical intervention, operations, rehabilitation

treatment, and providing technical means of rehabilitation.

We receive more than 1,000 applications and requests for

assistance per year. Families seeking help from the Fund are often

in a critical situation because of the inability to pay for expensive

treatment and rehabilitation of their children. As a result, many

children, especially in regions living far from district centers,

remain without treatment and fall into social isolation.

PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS IN 2016

In 2016 We helped 42 children for a total of 7,381,726 rubles,

paying for 21 courses of treatment, 13 rehabilitation courses and

13 pieces of rehabilitation equipment. In 2016, 17 children from

the Russian Federation received financial assistance, including 11

from Moscow. (26%), from the Republic of Bashkortostan - 7

people. (17%) from other regions (Moscow region, Sverdlovsk

region, Chelyabinsk region, Nizhny Novgorod region, Ulyanovsk

region, Tyumen region, etc.) – 24 people. (57%).

In total in 2009-2016 we paid

for treatment for 249 children for

the amount of 47 051 001 RUB

PROJECT RESULTS

Thanks to the help provided, the health of children with

severe disabilities of psychophysical development is

constantly improving. All children, whom we helped in 2016,

had comprehensive health improvements:

Fine motor skills: some children can now open their

hands, which is a prerequisite for manipulative actions

with objects, including the ability to drink, eat, draw,

dress, etc.

Motor activity: in many children the muscle strength

was increased, spacticity decreased - some children

can now stand, and sit, one of the children began to

stand and walk with support, and some - even

independently!

The development of speech: there are children who

pronounce only certain sounds, syllables or individual

words, someone tries to pronounce the sentences

completely and are happy that other people can

understand them better.

Mental development: some children study in schools

- the level of their intellectual development has

improved noticeably.

FAMILY CENTER PROGRAM


The prevention of social orphanhood by providing regular

assistance to children and their families with severe multiple

psychophysical development disorders.

We are talking about children who are usually left by parents in

orphanages for mentally retarded children in the "Mercy" groups,

where they mostly live in beds, do not receive social and

communicative experience, do not get skills development classes

and abilities, never leave the institution. Children of the Center -

stayed in the family, and we support them and their parents.

RESULTS IN 2016

Help was given to more than 93 families from Moscow.

Thanks to the correction and development work of the

Center's specialists, the maximum realization of the

intellectual and social potential of each child occurs, the

problem of social isolation of families is solved, parents see

different methods and options for their children and are

already taking part in the process of social rehabilitation,

following the recommendations of specialists at home, that

Greatly improves the quality of life of the family.

All classes for families are free of charge and are funded by

the Foundation through donations from individuals and legal

entities.

After classes in our Center, children with severe

developmental disorders are admitted to other correctional

and educational institutions. Therefore in 2016:

More than 40 families with children with complex

disabilities of psychophysical development received

assistance from highly qualified specialists of the

Center in accordance with the Individual Development Programs of the child.

Another 53 children received support in the

framework of cooperation with the St. George School.

More than 10 primary evaluations for new

children were conducted by specialists of the Center,

where the child's skills and potential are revealed, a

development program is being drawn up, and

recommendations are given to parents.

Specialists conducted 1,749 lessons, free of

charge for the parents.

VILLAGE PROGRAM

OUR VILLAGE is a small territory located inside the city of Kimovsk. It is built for

young people with disabilities, who since childhood have the status of an "orphan".

From 2008 to 2016, every summer, and in 2011 - all the year round, we held summer

camps in our Village for families with disabled children and for wards of psycho-

neurological boarding schools. For many children our house became the only place

where they could leave for a while from the walls of state institutions. Most of the

wards - since childhood, lived in an orphanage for mentally retarded children, and as

adults they live in an orphanage for adults. This is such a life, where practically no

personal space, attachments are short-lived and there is practically no possibility to

decide what to do with your life. We believe and hope that one day there will come a

time when everyone can live at home, despite any psychophysical disturbances.

For these older children, we regularly conducted independent living in an ordinary

house. This is difficult enough, in 25 years to learn to cook porridge or borsch, make a

shopping list, go to the grocery store and watch the broth. After all, many children from

childhood lived in an orphanage for disabled children and were far from the kitchen. But

this is just as interesting.

As a result, young people learned to live independently with delight from their

achievements and sometimes grief from failures. But it is achievements that inspire

hope and confidence in the future. In each orphanage for adults with disabilities up to

600 people live, but many could live in society with the necessary support.

RESULTS IN 2016

In 2016, our main task was to increase the availability and

presence in the Internet. We became more active participants in

social networks, found new friends, supporters and partners.

An important result was the development of a new site and the

transfer of the fund's site to the new Wordpress platform. A new

domain ddfrussia.ru was registered. New cooperation with the

company CloudPayments has significantly improved the ability of

the donors.

EVENTS

TURNING THE HOSPITAL INTO A FAIRYTALE HOUSE

In 2016 we actively cooperated with the Children's Orthopedic

Department of the Federal Bureau of Medical and Social

Expertise of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the

Russian Federation. Our partners - the artists the charity

“Maria’s Children” have significantly changed the walls of the

hospital. With the financial assistance of East-West Partners

and Pony Express employees, we filled in the children's

wards and the games room with new developing equipment,

toys and methodological and developmental aids. Now the

children, who spend many months within the walls of the

hospital on treatment - will live this time with joy.

and in places just gray walls.

It became a colorful fairytale kingdom!

TRAINING SEMINAR "BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE

METHODOLOGY – PORTAGE”

On April 19-21, we organized a seminar "Basic principles of Portage"

a methodology in individual work with children with disabilities ". It

was attended by 43 specialists from 20 organizations working with

children with developmental disabilities. Partners and speakers were

specialists from the "The Promise" Foundation (Great Britain), the

Ryazan Pedagogical Institute, the Elatma`s orphanage, the Yasenevo

Territorial Branch of the City Psychological and Pedagogical Center in

Moscow.

CONFERENCE "INNOVATIVE PRACTICES OF WORKING WITH

CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES, INCLUDING CHILDREN

WITH SEVERE MULTIPLE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES"

On October 27-28, in Moscow, we held a conference "Innovative

practices of working with children with disabilities, including children

with severe multiple developmental disabilities". 121 specialists

from 67 organizations took part in a conference.

At the conference, we presented our experience in the methods of

"Portage", Verticalization, Dog-therapy. Partners and speakers were

specialists from the "The Promise" Foundation (Great Britain),

Elatma`s orphanage, the Yasenevo Territorial Branch of the City

Psychological and Pedagogical Center in Moscow, ANO Obeschanie

(Ryazan), the Center for Curative Pedagogy (Moscow), "Center for

Leisure and Sport of SOC-IN" (Moscow), the Federal Bureau of

Medico-Social Expertise of the Ministry of Labor and Social

Protection of the Russian Federation (Moscow), the ANO "The

Training and Cynological Center "Dog-Assistants of the Disabled

people" (Moscow), the Center for the Promotion of Family Education

"Faith. Hope. Love" (Moscow).

Thanks to these activities, we were able to tell the professional

community about effective methods of working with children with

severe developmental disabilities, which will promote the

dissemination of these methods in Moscow and throughout Russia -

which means that hundreds of thousands of children will have a real

opportunity to develop and live more fully.

FIRST IN RUSSIA CHARITY INTERNATIONAL ICE HOCKEY

TOURNAMENT "DIEMA'S DREAM" OF THE RUSSIAN ICE

HOCKEY SCHOOL “ICESTYLE” OF SERGEY SUYARKOV

For the first time in Russia, from 22 to 26 March 2016 in ice arenas,

the Park of Legends and the Municipal Children's Center for Hockey

and Figure Skating in Odintsovo We held a children's charity ice

hockey tournament. In the Charity tournament took part young men

born in 2003-2008. From 23 teams of philanthropists representing

Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

In total, we collected 851,660 rubles of donations. The funds were

sent to help 5 children with disabilities in the development of the

musculoskeletal system – 1 course of treatment, 2 rehabilitation

courses, 2 technical means for children's rehabilitation.

We hope that this holiday of sport and good will become a good

tradition and will help many more needy children.

DAY OF THE DONOR BY RENAULT RUSSIA COMPANY

May 27th in Renault Russia, the Day of the donor, has already

become a tradition. This year, the donation of blood among the

company's employees is held for the third time, becoming the sixth

joint charity fund with the Diema’s Dream fund. The event was

timed to coincide with the International Children's Day.

72 people expressed a desire to become donors. Thanks to donors,

almost 19 liters of blood were collected for the Center for Pediatric

Hematology. More than 500 children undergoing treatment in this

clinic need a daily transfusion of donor blood and its components.

According to the normative legal acts on donation, all participants

of the Day of the donor waited for monetary compensation, which, if

desired, the staff could donate to the rehabilitation course for Alexei

Korotkov, the trustee of our Fund with cerebral palsy. Many

employees did so, thanks to which was collected 13,000 rubles.

These donations enabled Alex to attend a rehabilitation course in

the center "Good Hands" (Kazan) in July 16.

CHARITY EVENING IN GUM

October 1, 2016 in Moscow, at the GUM Trading House we

held our annual Charity event which so beloved by all the

supporters of the Diema’s Dream Foundation. This kind of

tradition again brought together people who are not

indifferent to the fate of disabled children.

A huge contribution to helping children is also brought by

Russian and foreign artists. Programs such our Family

Center, Village, Help to our Children and Charity Help are

financed exclusively by the funds collected through such

activities. And we express special gratitude to the Trade

House of GUM, which provides the premises for the event

free of charge. This is a huge contribution and an

excellent example for imitation of other companies.

THE MUSICAL MARATHON THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

OF MOSCOW

In November, the students of the International School of

Moscow held a Charity Music Marathon and raised funds for the

rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy! During the last 3

charity music marathons, a total of 2 million rubles were

collected (£ 25,000). Students from the International School

of Moscow sang and played music for 12 hours and collected

500,000 rubles of donations, 384 550 rubles were sent to

Diema’s Dream.

THE FINANCIAL LITERACY COURSE FROM

SBERBANK VOLUNTEERS

We often hear and know from experience that graduates of

orphanages are ill-equipped for independent living. A number

of our projects are aimed at training independent living.

Therefore, the idea of volunteers of the Savings Bank was

very relevant!

The volunteers came to the Kimovsk orphanage with a course

in financial literacy and training, writing a resume.

What is money? What were the first money and banks? How to

save money for your dream and at the same time correctly cover

current expenses? What will happen if you do not return the loan

or immediately spend your entire salary for what you want?

The children not only learned the answers to these questions, but

also in practice they trained to plan a budget and to separate the

necessary expenses from others. And after the training, everyone

got a cognitive book from Sberbank and an unusual cake.

A WHOLE YEAR ON THE RENAULT DUSTER!

In 2016 we were very lucky! The company Renault granted our fund a

free car, a Renault Duster. We carried out more than 170 long-distance

work trips lasting from 7 hours to 18 hours per day.

Material Aid to Orphans and Boarding Schools

12 trips to orphanages and boarding schools in Moscow, Tula, Ryazan and

Kostroma regions (6 wards) with the delivery of material assistance.

Organized 4 trips of the doctor-orthopedist Pozharischensky KE (Honored

Doctor of Russia, Professor, Head of the Children's Orthopedic Department

of the Federal Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise of the Ministry of

Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, Moscow) in 2

wards. Thanks to this, more than 150 children from the remote area of

Elatma received highly qualified assistance in the rehabilitation

independent movement.
