In The Meantime…. Before I share with you news about the Pastor Search Committee, I think that we all need to pause and express thanks to God for His provisions for us during this time of transition. How blessed we were during the “supply” period this summer when we had a variety of ministers share wonderful sermons week after week. Everyone who shared brought messages that were gifts from God to our LBC family. God’s provision for us is also seen in having Dr. Cameron Jorgenson agree to be our Preaching Interim. How fortunate we are to have someone who is so gifted in bringing a message from God each week. Couple with that the fact that Cameron knows us as brothers and sisters in Christ in this body, and I am not sure that we could have hoped for more. So, even though we are still in transition and will be for a while longer, we have much to “say grace over”. The process of selecting a Pastor Search Committee for LaFayette Baptist is ready for its final steps. The Deacon Executive Team reviewed the names of those nominated by the body and is now ready to present to the congregation a list of 14 nominees. On Sunday, October 6 at the close of the Morning Worship Service each member will have an opportunity to complete a ballot by voting for up to 7 persons to serve on the Pastor Search Committee. Any ballots that are received with more than 7 persons voted for will be considered invalid. If you know that you are not going to be able to be present on Sunday, October 6, you may vote by absentee ballot by coming by the church office and seeing Deborah Laymon anytime this week from 8 am to 4 pm, Tuesday through Thursday, and on Monday, October 7. No ballots will be accepted later than Monday, October 7. Each of these nominees has been contacted and has indicated their willingness to serve if elected by the congregation. On page 2 of this MESSENGER you will find the names of the nominees and a brief bio on each. You are asked to review the names and to prayerfully consider which of them will best represent the congregation in its search. Keep in mind the need for balance of age, gender, length of time in the church, and various ministries represented. The top 7 persons receiving votes will be selected and the 2 persons receiving the next highest number of votes will serve as alternates. These names are offered for your prayerful consideration. We will look forward to sharing with you the results of this process beginning Wednesday, October 9th at our midweek services, via email, and in worship on Sunday, October 13th. Please continue in your prayers for all of the LBC faith family, this search process, and for the one who will answer the call of God to serve in this place.

In The Meantime….

Before I share with you news about the Pastor Search Committee, I think that we all need to pause and express thanks to

God for His provisions for us during this time of transition. How blessed we were during the “supply” period this

summer when we had a variety of ministers share wonderful sermons week after week. Everyone who shared brought

messages that were gifts from God to our LBC family. God’s provision for us is also seen in having Dr. Cameron

Jorgenson agree to be our Preaching Interim. How fortunate we are to have someone who is so gifted in bringing a

message from God each week. Couple with that the fact that Cameron knows us as brothers and sisters in Christ in this

body, and I am not sure that we could have hoped for more. So, even though we are still in transition and will be for a

while longer, we have much to “say grace over”.

The process of selecting a Pastor Search Committee for LaFayette Baptist is ready for its final steps. The Deacon Executive

Team reviewed the names of those nominated by the body and is now ready to present to the congregation a list of 14

nominees. On Sunday, October 6 at the close of the Morning Worship Service each member will have an opportunity

to complete a ballot by voting for up to 7 persons to serve on the Pastor Search Committee. Any ballots that are

received with more than 7 persons voted for will be considered invalid. If you know that you are not going to be able

to be present on Sunday, October 6, you may vote by absentee ballot by coming by the church office and seeing

Deborah Laymon anytime this week from 8 am to 4 pm, Tuesday through Thursday, and on Monday, October 7. No

ballots will be accepted later than Monday, October 7.

Each of these nominees has been contacted and has indicated their willingness to serve if elected by the congregation.

On page 2 of this MESSENGER you will find the names of the nominees and a brief bio on each. You are asked to

review the names and to prayerfully consider which of them will best represent the congregation in its search. Keep in

mind the need for balance of age, gender, length of time in the church, and various ministries represented. The top 7

persons receiving votes will be selected and the 2 persons receiving the next highest number of votes will serve as

alternates. These names are offered for your prayerful consideration.

We will look forward to sharing with you the results of this process beginning Wednesday, October 9th at our midweek

services, via email, and in worship on Sunday, October 13th. Please continue in your prayers for all of the LBC faith

family, this search process, and for the one who will answer the call of God to serve in this place.

Preschool and Children’s Ministries

As we look forward to October, we will continue to have our regular Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening activities for preschoolers and children. The only exception will be on Wednesday, October 30—we will not have Connections class that Wednesday. On Friday, October 18, we will have a Preschool Family Movie Night at 6:30pm in U205/207. We are still deciding on a movie.

On Wednesday, October 31 from 6-7:30pm, we are hosting a Trunk or Treat. Details about what we are needing and how our Trunk or Treat will work will be shared each Sunday leading up to the event.

Music and Worship Ministry Update

We had a wonderful time listening to our Christmas music at Open

Choir Night! In addition to our normal rehearsals for Sundays, we

are beginning to rehearse for our program, Miracles and Mystery, that

will be on Sunday evening, December 8th at 5:30 pm. We will be

enjoying a potluck dinner that evening as well. Mark your

calendars! You don’t want to miss it. There is still time to join choir

for the season! Let me know if you are interested.

As we move into October, our times of worship will focus on God’s

call to all believers. I pray you will come ready each week to be

transformed into more of who God created you to be so that as a

church, we can do the same.

I’m grateful to serve with you!

Melanie
