Rent rises - notify UC on journal, please note that by law a Landlord must give 30 days’ notice if they are going to raise your rent payments. If a tenant is getting housing benefit, they are entitled to an extra 2 weeks housing benefit when they first claim Univer-sal Credit. This is a transitional payment and is usually paid to the tenant’s landlord.

Council Tax reductions and exemptions – The list is in the office if you require any assistance with this please ask a member of staff.

3 examples on the list are:

Under 20 and entitled to Child Benefit. An 18 or 19-year-old who is at either school or collage and for whom Child Benefit remain payable.

Apprentice undertaking a qualification rec-ognised by the Scottish qualifications and curriculum authority and is earning less that £195 per week (gross).

Severely mentally impaired and must be receiving a qualifying benefit and be certified by a Doctor.

Warm home discount: The Warm Home Discount Scheme for winter 2018 to 2019 closed on 31 March 2019. The 2019 to 2020 scheme will start on 14 October 2019.
