In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Screen shots: 1 - 9
Screenshot 1 – Title of the film
This frame shows the title of our film clearly and with an effect showing all of the protagonist characters behind.
We chose this style of title as it shows all of the protagonist characters.
The main character, Micky G, is positioned in the centre of their title showing his importance and the status of the other characters around him.
Screenshot 2 – Setting/Location
This frame shows the location/setting we used and how enclosed the secret location the team uses for their planning.
We used an establishing shot to express as much of the location we could.
It also has all the characters walking towards the camera.
Screenshot 3 – Costumes and Props
This frame shows the some of the props we used in our opening. Here, we see Danny Wade’s poker chips and cards, clearly stating
his occupation within the group. The use of props is important as it helps to show what characters
do, inforce the setting and plot of the film.
Screenshot 4 – Camerawork and Editing
This frame here shoes a close up shot of some poker chips showing the use of camera work in our opening.
Also, it is presented in black and white, portraying the editing in our opening, editing the colours of the shot.
We chose to use a variety of camerawork and editing in our piece as it gives a sense of reality and professionalism in our opening.
Screenshot 5 – Title Font and style
This frame here shows the title font and style we used in our opening titles throughout the start of the opening.
We decided to use simple colours and font style as we thought it related to our genre and conformed to the rest of the piece.
Screenshot 6 – Story and how the opening sets it up
The frame above shows how we decided to tease the story into the opening with the use of one object.
We decided to use a briefcase as its suspicious and those ones are commonly known to contain money but the audience doesn't know, they are intrigued.
It also conforms to our genre.
Screenshot 7 – Genre and how the opening suggests it
The frame above demonstrates how we introduce the genre of our film with use of a short take of the cocking of a gun.
This shows the audience what time of genre it is as well as all the other short takes involved giving the, a sense of what is about to happen in the film.
For this idea we analysed big films and a lot of them introduced the thriller genre this way.
Screenshot 8 – How characters are introduced
This frame shows how certain characters are introduced throughout our opening.
Each character is introduced through a variety of short takes that show what their occupation is within the group.
We got this idea from a variety of thriller hustle type films and TV shows which also use this technique.
Screenshot 9 – Special effects
The frame above shows the use of special effects we used in our opening.
Each character has this effect on them, giving them a special feel and to knows the importance of each one.
We used this idea from a variety of films we analysed and thought it was a good technique which looked professional.
