Opportunities development of national chemical industry in Indonesia is still wide open in the future. With a population of around 230 million people and abundant natural resources, Indonesia has the opportunity to place itself on the front line of chemical industry development. Various chemical industries have grown and developed in Indonesia, among others petrochemical industry, oleo-chemistry agrochemical, and so on. The chemical industry also produces various chemical products to meet the needs and improve the living standards of Indonesians.

Market of basic chemicals in Indonesia advances 2.8% by value in 2016, driven by increased purchases from plastic in primary forms and synthetic rubber, paints and varnishes, agrochemical and fertilizer as well as pharmaceuticals industries. Turnover of Indonesia’s basic chemicals industry grows 8.6% in 2016, supported by rising foreign investment in production capacity expansion. Production of ethylene and propylene accelerates in 2016 as operating plants increase production utilization ratio.
