FINAL COUNTDOWN TO DOS

Idaho Gives checklists are designed to simplify your job as a nonprofit. We want your participation to be a success! Use these tips, tricks and tasks to keep your campaign on track.

Review the Previous Checklist £ Take a look at the earlier checklists – they are designed to build upon one another.

Previous topics include setting goals, gathering stories, setting up your Nonprofit Donation Page and more!

Turn Your Strategy into Action £ Review your goal and then create a weekly email series that has small actions that build

toward it. Sample actions for donors – mark May 7th on the calendar, forward your email to 10 friends, like your Facebook page or re-tweet your post, join in a fun activity on May 7th and give on May 7th.

£ Make sure your website reflects your efforts for Idaho Gives. Keep it timely in the final weeks and link your “Donate Now” button to Idaho Gives for this special 24-hour period. Donations must come through idahogives.org to be eligible for the Idaho Gives Award Pool.

£ Ramp up your social media efforts with a few weeks to go. Build up to a peak and maintain the buzz in the days leading up to May 7th. Continue sharing stories, emphasizing your nonprofits unique impact and linking donations to additional good works. Try to balance generating conversations with requests for money. Ideas to try:

o Build a countdown to May 7th and tie each day to an element of your work o Recruit someone with a large online following to embrace your nonprofit o Post small pieces of a story over a week or two rather than all at once o Use humor along with heartfelt requests o Consult our Facebook and Twitter Tip Sheet with ideas for different level users.

Line Up a Special Partner £ Bring in more donors with a challenge match. Recruit a group of board members or loyal

donors prior to May 7th and build your match into your plan for the day. Matches can be entered on your Nonprofit Donation Page and are administered and collected by you – as such, they are not subject to the standard donor fees.

£ Visit your favorite business partners and ask them to help spread the word about Idaho Gives. The more Idahoans know about the day, the easier it will be for your nonprofit to activate donors on May 7th. Partners love to help, especially when your request is for a reader board or email to employees, instead of a request for money. Use our Business Partner Program materials to make it easy.

Create Buzz on the Big Day £ Update, update, update – use email and social media to tell folks how you are doing,

remind them of your goal, provide a special reason to give (match or prize) and celebrate successes throughout the day.

£ Brainstorm a fun (or silly!) idea to turn heads in your community on May 7th. A few volunteers with a good idea can work wonders. Partner it with online giving stations or a small reminder card to get donors to turn interest into action. Even 30 minutes at lunch time on a busy corner can generate buzz – invite the media or create a short video and share it online.

£ Gather a gang of donors for a simple “start strong” moment – coffee and donuts at a popular café or at a site where you do your good works. Post pics and tweet results from early donors. Bookend your efforts with a late night burst – capture the hearts of night owls with a last-minute request.
