The Inauguration of Croplife India Pilot Project on “Responsible Use of Pesticides
and Container Management”, supported by Department of Agriculture and co-
operation and being conducted under the aegis of Grow Safe Food campaign was
held on 9th January, 2015 at Tatiparti Village, Gollaprolu Mandal, East Godavari
District, Andhra Pradesh.

250 farmers and one distributor participated at the inaugural event.
The Programme proceeded as follows:

The Pilot project will be organized in collaboration with District Agriculture
Department and will cover the following training modules:
1. Need of Agricultural inputs and their Responsible Use
2. Different Crops Cultivated in Kakinada Area – IPM
3. Pests and Disease Management – Role of Chemicals
4. Storage Pest Management
5. Spraying Machines and Calculation of pesticide dosage
6. Counterfeit and illegal pesticide products
7. Beneficial insects in different crops and their understanding
8. Chemical Pesticide Residues on crops and their impact
9. Buying and Transportation of Pesticides
10. Methods of Pesticides Storage Practices at home
11. Management of Pesticides Leakage
12. Usage of Pesticides – Impact of Human Body
13. Usage of Pesticides – Security Aspects
14. Awareness on Pesticides Poisoning
15. Pesticides Poisoning- First Aid Methods
16. Container Management – Triple Rinsing and handling used empty pesticide
containers.

Interaction with Famers (10th January, 2015)
Croplife India team along with Dr. Ram Asre (Additional Plant Protection Advisor and
National Incharge, Central IPM) visited Chandram Palam Village, Samarlakot
Mandal, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh on 10th January, 2015. 30 farmers
participated in the Interaction Programme.
The programme focused on need for use of pesticides, need to identify helpful and
harmful insects and demonstrations on sprayer maintenance and right application of
pesticides including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by Master Trainers. Dr.
Ram Asre and Croplife India team interacted with farmers on these topics.
