• How can we keep our regular giving visible to a younger generation?
Our first-fruits
Can we each put aside our first-fruits, the first and best of what we have, as a thanks offering to God?
If we commit to this as individuals and as parishes, then we have confidence going into the future, that God will provide all we need.
Regular giving

Occasional Giving
• Are you maxing out the GASDS?
• Gift aid envelopes
• Ours were A6 peel and seal, giving plenty of space to add our own design, including a Thyngs QR code, and allowing the envelope to folded in half and sealed for privacy. They came from www.ideal-envelopes.co.uk and cost less than £250 for 2500 (including VAT and delivery) - other printers do similar.
• Contactless options
Contactless
Option Pros/Cons
Sum Up Cheap. About 2%. Needs a signal. Needs tablet screen as well, not the simplest
Goodbox Various options (including plate right). Doesn’t need signal. Very simple but can be pricier.
Thyngs Doesn’t need any technology - use anywhere. Approx. 5% fees. Needs a signal

Takes a lot of time, but there is money available.
Legacies: how much most years?
In 2018, legacies were 2% of the total income – but usually more like 6%. Why the drop? Will it change?
Legacies
• Vital to ask! • Do you ask?
• Do you have a legacy policy?
• Do you make it easy?
• The older people are, the happier they are to talk about wills
• The more teaching they get on legacies, they happier they are to talk
• Bad news – Church of England is vastly outspent
• Good news – but we have amazing resources
• Bad news – but hardly anyone is using them
• Good news – you can go home and get a legacy policy drafted by the end of the year!
Lettings 13% and fees 2%
Lettings• Are you making your church lettings visible?
• Be a secret shopper – what are others around charging? • Could you charge more?
• Or would you get more bookings if you charged less?
• Could you invest now (in hall improvements) to make income later?
Fees
• Make yourself visible – wedding fairs, undertakers etc
• Contactless giving can work well at events
• Having a policy regarding giving at funerals can help
• Making fees very clear online and upfront can save embarrassment.
• Make sure it is clear who needs to be paid, how and when
Always thank:Your giving is changing lives
