Step 1: FeelThere are lots of problem faced by the students in the school.
One that troubles most is Unhygienic practices.
Discussion
Further to understand this problem
we discussed various measures :
1. Proper usage of dustbin.
2.Hygienic usage of the toilet.
3. Proper usage of hand towel while sneezing and coughing.
4. Washing hands before the intake of food.
Among all these problems, toilet hygiene is the most
important one.
•Hence our concern falls on the proper maintenance of hygienic atmosphere.

Littering the toilet
with used paper.
We visited the toilets and noticed the following problems.
Spitting & playing inside the toilet. Avoidance of washing hands after urination and defecation. Scribbling on the walls. Splashing the dirty water on each other .
Step 2: Imagine
We discussed with our mentor teacher. Many ideas were suggested for rectifying:
Creating awareness.
Seeking the guidelines of experts.
Collection of cleaning materials.
Pasting placards to create awareness.
Seeking the cooperation of scavengers.
Under the guidance of mentor teacher and fellow students, remedial measurerswere carried out.
Step 3: DoWe organized an
awareness programme for the fellow students and gave them tips in nurturing SPIC & SPAN atmosphere in the lavatory.
Points that are pondered; Washing the hands after
urination and defecation Flushing the toilet properly
before and after use.Disinfection of toilets to control
the spread of diseases. “Prevention is better than
cure”. Keeping ourselves clean, prevents many diseases .

The nurse gave us an insight into different problems caused due to the unhygienic environment
Contagious diseases
due to unwashed hands.
Diarrhoeal diseases caused
due to poor sanitation.
This session was very useful to us as it gave a clear idea about sanitation and its benefits.
We also had a one-to-one discussion with the nurse which helped us to improve our hygienic habits.

The students were asked to donate Sanitizers.
Variety of materials were collected to enhance the sanitation.
Procession A procession organised to stress the importance of hygienic environment among the students.
•We spread the message through the placards with slogans on proper sanitation and hygiene.

We, as toilet-trained students, have under taken the responsibility of keeping our toilets pristine by adopting the hygienic toilet habits
we have learnt.
