Our idea consisted of a rivalry between two pubs that are competing in a ‘best pub’ competition. The two pubs are named, The Royal Cock and The Fishes Lips and the animation mainly focuses from the point of view of the two owners from The Fishes Lips. They attempt to sabotage the chances of The Royal Cock from winning the competition due to them successively winning and they construct a plan in order to do this. My role within this production was mainly as an all-rounder, for example; I worked on the concepts, storyboarding, 3D texturing and animating/colouring of specific 2D scenes. With regard to the roles that the other members of the group did, Katie and Georgia were in charge of the 2D department, whereas Fiona and I were in charge of the 3D department. As the project progressed, this slightly changed as more animating was needed in the 2D so I later joined them in that. As our project was based from Katie’s initial idea, she was the director of the group and was in charge of most of the 2D animation, character designs and narrative. Fiona worked closely with Katie due to being in charge of the 3D sequence and was involved in the scripting and audio/voicing of the animation. They were very informative and organised throughout our production processes and as a group we worked efficiently together in order to produce our final animation on time. Georgia was also thoroughly involved in the 2D department and was mainly concentrating on the movement of the animation and lip syncing. I worked closely with Georgia and Katie as I lined and coloured some of the scenes that they had keyed and put the in-betweens into. With regard to our production diary, we all put a lot of time into our animation in order to get it finished on time. This was successful and I think we worked professionally well as a team. In relation to my role, in the first section of our production process, I worked on the 3D with Fiona. This mainly involved producing the 3D sequence animatic in the form of storyboards and I created the pub designs where Fiona and I then came up with the names of the pubs. Once we had established this, I then created the final 3D textures for the 3D blueprint scene which Fiona then went on to animate in Maya. From then on, I joined Katie and Georgia in the 2D department and began working on specific scenes that needed lining and colouring on Flash. I thought this was a great learning curve as I learnt about consistency. Overall, I think that our animation was a success however, if we were to improve it, we may need to revisit some of the key frames of the female character. For example; her anatomy, for a more humorous effect.

For our group project, we had to create a short animation based off an idea for a web series. Our

idea consisted of a rivalry between two pubs that are competing in a ‘best pub’ competition. The

two pubs are named, The Royal Cock and The Fishes Lips and the animation mainly focuses from the

point of view of the two owners from The Fishes Lips. They attempt to sabotage the chances of The

Royal Cock from winning the competition due to them successively winning and they construct a

plan in order to do this. My role within this production was mainly as an all-rounder, for example; I

worked on the concepts, storyboarding, 3D texturing and animating/colouring of specific 2D scenes.

With regard to the roles that the other members of the group did, Katie and Georgia were in charge

of the 2D department, whereas Fiona and I were in charge of the 3D department. As the project

progressed, this slightly changed as more animating was needed in the 2D so I later joined them in

that. As our project was based from Katie’s initial idea, she was the director of the group and was in

charge of most of the 2D animation, character designs and narrative. Fiona worked closely with Katie

due to being in charge of the 3D sequence and was involved in the scripting and audio/voicing of the

animation. They were very informative and organised throughout our production processes and as a

group we worked efficiently together in order to produce our final animation on time. Georgia was

also thoroughly involved in the 2D department and was mainly concentrating on the movement of

the animation and lip syncing. I worked closely with Georgia and Katie as I lined and coloured some

of the scenes that they had keyed and put the in-betweens into. With regard to our production diary,

we all put a lot of time into our animation in order to get it finished on time. This was successful and

I think we worked professionally well as a team.

In relation to my role, in the first section of our production process, I worked on the 3D with Fiona.

This mainly involved producing the 3D sequence animatic in the form of storyboards and I created

the pub designs where Fiona and I then came up with the names of the pubs. Once we had

established this, I then created the final 3D textures for the 3D blueprint scene which Fiona then

went on to animate in Maya. From then on, I joined Katie and Georgia in the 2D department and

began working on specific scenes that needed lining and colouring on Flash. I thought this was a

great learning curve as I learnt about consistency.

Overall, I think that our animation was a success however, if we were to improve it, we may need to

revisit some of the key frames of the female character. For example; her anatomy, for a more

humorous effect.
