The Series KRONOS offers many functions inside a single device.

Thanks to the touchscreen display it’s possible to change the charging parameters,

charging curves or to activate special functions for particular tasks.

It offers reliability, safety and quality.

DISPLAY SETTINGS

Through the display, it’s possible to customize the charging parameters based on the battery to charge. The customizable parameters are:

• Voltage (V)

• Current (A)

• Type of battery (AGM, GEL, Lead-acid, Lithium)

The procedure to change the parameters it’s simple and intuitive.

BOX The box of each model of the series has special features that makes it easy both the installation and the use of the charger. The integrated cable hook offers the possibility to hang up the cables when the charger is not in function, reducing the possibility to damage the cables and/or the connector. The holes found on the back part of the charger allows it’s fixing on the walls in a simple and fast way.

DESULPHATION MODE

A charging curve activated from the menu allows the desulphation of the battery. This curve offers the possibility to select the duration of the charging cycle (max. 18h) and the constant current (based on the model) of the desulphation cycle.

POWER SUPPLY MODE In case there is the need to power any electrical device, it’s possible to activate the power supply mode directly on the display through the settings menu. The electrical device must match the voltage programmed on the battery charger.

CHARGING VISUALS

By pushing the middle button of the touchscreen it’s possible to visualize many information regarding the ongoing charging cycle.

HIGH EFFICIENCY Through a new technology (resonant technology), the KRONOS series offers a high efficiency up to 92% and a low heat dissipation.

FAST CHARGES

Through the special menu, it’s possible to activate special charging cycles that allows opportunity charges or fast charges based on the available time to perform the charging cycle and the model size.

LOW BATTERIES The charger reads the voltage of the battery and with the wide ranges programmed in the software, it will begin the charging cycle respecting the battery standard charging parameters even if the battery is over discharged.

The NEOS series was developed to satisfy the need to install the battery charger on-board of any electrical vehicle. Resistant to vibrations and bumps, with a new applied technology, it’s the ideal product for every use. The many accessories and supports allows its use also off-board.

IP67

With a protection degree of IP67, the battery charger is completely resistant to water and dust. It can resist to brief period of total immersion in water.

ON-BOARD USE With the protection degree of IP67, the special box used and an innovative building technology, make the charger resistant to vibrations, to bumps and bad weather so is perfect for on-board use.

SAFE and RELIABLE

The battery charger is completely safe and reliable for long operation work and charging cycles thanks to the many safety control of which it’s equipped with. Among these, we can find: - External and internal thermal probe - Short circuit protection - Overcurrent protection - Self-diagnosis for anomalies

FAST CHARGES Based on size of the battery charger related to the battery that it will charge, it offers the possibility to perform fast charges.

HIGH EFFICIENCY

The NEOS series offers an efficiency of ≥94% and a power factor ≥0,99.

IDEAL FOR EVERY BATTERY Based on the installed charging curve, it’s possible to charge any type of battery (AGM, GEL, Lead acid, Lithium).

LOW BATTERIES

The charger reads the voltage of the battery and through the wide ranges that the program allows, the standard charging cycle will begin following the standard charging parameters even if the voltage read from the battery is very low.

PLUG-N-PLAY All the models are supplied with the Schuko power supply plug that allows an immediate put in use of the charger without the need to install special industrial plugs.

PFC and SOFT START The series is equipped with Active PFC to follow the European standards. Also programmed with soft start to avoid absorption peaks when the charger is switched on and avoid damage caused to the battery by the initial charging current peak.

What is the difference between a normal charger and a charger with

LIFE System installed?

Normal – The charger performs the traditional Wa charging curve respecting the battery

parameters but not delaying its natural aging.

LIFE System – The charger performs the traditional Wa charging curve respecting the

battery parameters but with regeneration features.

Through a special pulse action that moves the fix residue inside the cells, the result will

be an immediate net improving of the battery performances.

The LIFE System is a BATTERY REGENERATION SYSTEM installed as an accessory inside the EVO Series.

Every charging cycle is considered as a desulphation cycle since it causes an immediate increase of the battery

capacity (up to 50% capacity in old batteries with cells in good conditions) with a consequent delay of its aging

(increase of the operational life of the battery).

The Voltage-Check function (active by default on all the chargers with the LIFE System installed) limits the

increase of the battery temperature during the charging cycle with a consequent decrease of consumptions of

the electrolyte (battery liquid)

The Voltage-check function also reduces the waste of energy since it calculates the exact time needed to

complete the charging cycle.

This regeneration system is completely automatic and ready to use.

The DATA Log accessory allows the recording of infinite charging

cycle with detailed accuracy. Can be installed on both the SE and

EVO Series.

The recorded informations are:

▪ Number of the charging cycles

▪ Exact date and time when charge begun

▪ Total duration of the cycle

▪ Tmax – Max temperature achieved

▪ Vmax – Max voltage achieved

▪ Vstart – Initial voltage when cycle begun

▪ Amax – Max current achieved (only if SHUNT is installed)

▪ Afinal – Last value of Amperage read (only with SHUNT

installed)

▪ Ah – Ah charged in the battery (only with SHUNT

installed)

The recorded data from the DataLOG can be analyzed on our free web service TCE Cloud.

This service offers intuitive graphs to analyze in a simple and fast way the status of the battery based on the charging cycles

performed by the charger.

AIR PUMP (EUW)

The air pump satisfies the needs of batteries that requires a charging cycle with this accessory. The air flux blown inside the battery is guaranteed for the whole duration of the cycle. This accessory is only available for the EVO and KRONOS Series.

CONNECTORS It’s possible to connect to the charger both the DC and the AC connectors to make the product ready to use as soon as it’s received. We offer high quality connectors from the main brands (REMA, Power Anderson, Ravioli, …)

CASE SUPPORT

(Neos Series)

It’s possible to request different types of supports for the NEOS Series based on the use of the device (if on-board or stand-alone). The different supports allow an easy and fast installation of the product. By getting in touch with TCE Group SRL, it’s possible to request customized supports and brackets.

CASE SUPPORT (EVO / SE Series) The case support is a useful accessory to preserve the quality of the case. Made with a welded galvanized tubular, it offers a simple way to prevent damaged caused by accidental bumps to the charger and improve at the same time the internal ventilation. When the charger is on the support, it’s possible to simply move it with a trans-pallet or a forklift.

CABLE HOOK

A simple and efficient solution to prevent damaging caused to the charging cables. This accessory can be installed by the customer, it offers a solution to one of the most common problems. Made with galvanized metal to prevent the formation of rust, colored with powder paint to prevent the fading of the color in case of prolonged periods under the sun.

HANDLES The handles help the user to move the charger around. They are simply inserted through the side slits of the charger to move it then removed once the operation is completed. Simple but useful, the handles avoid damaged caused to the charger in case it is dragged while moving it.

FAQ

What are the main differences between the traditional 50Hz chargers and the High Frequency chargers? The main differences are:

• Size and weight – Both size and weight of the high frequency chargers are much lower compared to the traditional 50Hz chargers

• On-board – Some high frequency products (ex. NEOS Series) offers the possibility to be installed on-board of the machine, making the charging

operation much easier to the user. In the specific case of the on-board use, the chargers respect the strictest standards because they are in direct

contact with both the user and the battery so much safer.

• Parameters changing – In the majority of the high frequency products it’s possible to change the charging parameters such as voltage and current

• Maintenance – Regarding the 50Hz chargers, very little maintenance is requested during its operational life span (ex. EVO and SE Series). F or the high

frequency, a more periodic maintenance is requested (ex. KRONOS Series) except special cases where the device has specific IP prot ection that allows

a periodic maintenance similar to the traditional 50Hz chargers (ex. NEOS Series with IP67 protection)

• Charging time – High frequency battery chargers can achieve fast chargers (6h) compared to the 50Hz chargers (10-12h)

What is the equalization charge? The equalization charge is an auxiliary charging cycle that optimizes the battery performances. Its purpose is to balance the level of charge of the cells of the

battery.

This cycle automatically begins after a predetermined period of time after the completion of the standard charging cycle.

This phase is handled by a microprocessor that controls and decides the charge/pause intervals based on a predetermined program.

What is the “floating” in the high frequency chargers? When the battery is not being charged but the charger and is not being used, there is a natural self-discharge. The charger, by reading the dropping voltage and

upon reaching a predetermined threshold, calculates the auto-discharging current and automatically turns on to keep the cells voltage constant between 2,2V

and 2,25V. This operation is the mostly known as “floating” since the charging current floats to keep the battery voltage constant.

How does the maintenance charge work? The maintenance charge avoids the inevitable loss of the battery charge when it’s left unused for long periods of time. The TCE devices keep the cell voltage at

2,3V. The control card constantly reads the battery values and if the values read are below the allowed threshold, a charging cycle will automatically begin then

stop upon reaching the pre-set values. The advantage of this feature is that the battery can be left unused for a long period of time but always ready to be taken

and use. This function does not provoke any damage to the battery.

How to optimize the performances and life of the battery

Traction batteries requires a minimum but period maintenance to preserve them in an optimal condition:

• Avoid to over discharge the battery (below the 1,7V per cell threshold). The grids are subjected to high stress caused by the variation of the volume of

the active matter and can be seriously damaged

• Avoid to over charge the battery and/or not charge it enough. The overcharging of the battery can cause overheating of the cells and cause the leakage of active matter from the elements

• Never leave the battery unused for long periods, this cause sulphation phenomena

• Periodically check the level of the electrolyte (in case the battery is WET type) to make sure that the grids are always completely covered by it

• Always chose the best charger based on the use of the machine, the charging time available and the type of the environment where the charge will be performed
