If the students interview skills have not improved it may be suggested that Industry Training be delayed.
MOCK INTERVIEW POLICY
A job description will be sent to the student once a Mock Interview has been booked in IND200. The job
description used for the Mock Interview is to evaluate interview skills and is not the position the student

once Industry Training has finished, the student can continue to accrue hours by continuing to work part
time while studying.

procedures may result in disciplinary action from the employer, possible dismissal from the Industry
Training position and potentially an unsatisfactory completion grade for the Industry Training course.
The Industry Training Department encourages students to be pro-active in seeking feedback on
performance and improve as necessary. Performance feedback is an important part of the Industry
Training experience and provides an opportunity for students to improve skills and learn valuable
lessons.

student may be required to work weekends or late shifts at short notice. The employer will indicate
when the student (employee) is required to work, either via a roster or set hours as outlined in the

apologise and assure the supervisor that there will not be a repeat incident. If not at fault, the student
should calmly and professionally state their side. If advice is required or the student believes they are
being treated unfairly, the student should contact their Consultant. If a letter of warning is issued the
student should retain the paperwork and contact their Consultant immediately.
RESIGNING FROM PLACEMENT
The student must discuss issues in the role and agree on an appropriate action with their Consultant
prior to resigning from the role. Resignation from Industry Training employment without prior approval
from a Consultant will result in an “unsatisfactory completion” grade and the student will be required to
find an own placement.
DISMISSAL FROM PLACEMENT
Dismissal or retrenchment from an Industry Training position must be reported to a Consultant
immediately.
If dismissed on grounds of misconduct, illegal behaviour, or non-performance, and ICMS have assessed
that the grounds are just, the student will be required to find their own replacement position and
complete Industry Training in the same term. Depending on the reason for the termination the student
may be dismissed from ICMS based on unsatisfactory academic progress.
If the dismissal is not due to any fault of the students, or circumstances prevailed beyond the students
control to perform the duties, the Industry Training Department will assist the student in finding an
alternative position.
