Together with friends, the brothers andsisters at our missions in Bolivia visitedthe juvenile detention center of Calauma,in a morning of evangelization to take tothem through the Word of God faith andhope to the young people who areincarcerated for a period of 3 years. Theyalso held an encounter, “awake”, that hadthe participation of approximately 40people from La Paz and Viachu. Theyclosed the encounter with a moment ofadoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Solemnity of the SacredHeart of Jesus

On the day dedicated to prayer by thesanctification of priests, the sisters of themission house, Sacred Heart of Jesus,and the mission house Nazareth, unitedwith the clergy of the Diocese of St.Michael in the Eucharistic Sanctuary, OurLady of Penha, in the Holy Masscelebrated by Bishop Manuel. InGovernador Valadares, Parana, Brazil,Bishop Werner celebrated the memory ofthe Immaculate Heart of Mary at themission house, Beaterio Sacro Cor Iesu,with the participation of friends,benefactors, lay-people and religious ofthe local community.

The brothers and sisters of the missionsin Rio were present at Rio plus 20,(conference of the United Nations forsustainable development), andparticipated in Holy Mass presided byBishop Leonardo Ulrich Steiner, AuxiliaryBishop of Brasilia and Secretary of theCNBB.

The sisters of the mission in Manaus,Amazonas, Brazil, celebrated the patronof their mission house, Our Lady ofPerpetual Help, with prayers in honor ofthe Virgin Mother of God, and on the dayof the festival celebrated one more stepin the religious formation of one of ouryoung people in their entrance to theaspirancy period.

Reflecting theFeast of St. Peter and St. Paul, themission house Nazareth, in Penha, SaoPaulo, Brazil, prepared a special breakfastfor the poor, that had the rhythm ofBrazilian June festivals with popcorn, hotdogs, corn chowder, peanut tea and corncake.

Mission in the United StatesThe mission in Kansas City welcomedsome young people who wereparticipating in a volunteer program(Prayer in Action) that is held annually bythe Archdiocese of Kansas City, withyoung people from various places in theArchdiocese. With our sisters they hadmoments of prayer, adoration, sharing anda Franciscan welcoming.

Fr. Gilson visited the benefactors andparishioners of Sonora, California, at theinvitation of the new Parish Priest, Fr. Ray,at the St. Patrick Parish. The parishannually opens their doors to receive ourfounder to celebrate Masses in Englishand Spanish, and to promote ourMissionary work. Our benefactors assistthe pastoral service of two missions in SaoPaulo, Brazil, Mission house MotherTeresa, and mission house St. Francis.They prepared encounters and dinners,with the goal of making our mission workknown.

During the month of June there were fiveRescue-Me encounters in Brazil, and ourfirst encounter outside of the country inCiudad del Este, Paraguay. In these daysapproximately 1,100 people participatedin the encounters.

On the 8th and 9th of June the brothersand sisters promoted the CRA – that hasthe goal of formation for our lady-associates reflecting on the text “Apostolicexhortation Christifideles Laici. On the13th and 14th there was an encounter ofreflection for the professed religious andnovices who are in mission in the regionthat unites houses in Para, Maranhao andManaus.

The brothers of the mission in Belem,Para, Brazil, held a missionary week inTaciateua, Santa Maria do Para, the citythat welcomed our first mission in the Stateof Para. During the week-long activitiesthey visited families with the image of OurLady of Nazareth, as well as moments ofpraise and adoration.

In the beginning of June our founder wasvisiting the mission of Campo Mourao,where he celebrated the Solemnity ofCorpus Christi. During the occasion hesent out new acolytes, blessed and sentout sixty people who were a part of the

campaign “The Father seeks adorers”,that animates men and women to take onan hour of adoration in our PerpetualAdoration chapel. Three vocations werewelcomed for religious life and four forthe lay-associate life.Fr. Gilson then trav-eled to Sao Paulo to visit the Missionhouses St. Francis and St. Lawrence,where he celebrated the Solemnity of theSacred Heart of Jesus, attended the shel-tered men in confession and celebratedthe end of treatment of two young men.In Guaianazes Fr. Gilson con-celebratedwith Fr. Messias de Manduri, who helpsyoung people who are addicted to drugsand alcohol.
