    Brit Milah is the initiation service for Jewish babies

    Its literal meaning is covenant of circumcision

    Circumcision was one of the covenants given to Abraham byGod

    Eight days after birth, unless health problems with the babydelay this, the newborn boy is taken to the Synagogue to havethe circumcision performed on him

    celebratory meal, many different prayers are recited, an

    example of one being the ha-RachamanAnother prayer often recited at these meals is the Sandek,

    Some Jewish communities believe that meat should be servedas part of the meal following Brit Milah, as most templeofferings in olden times consisted of meat.
