Ford Model T Car:the mindset of Henry Ford

Henry Fords model T remained unchanged for years while General

Motors (Chevrolet) was making changes often using new technology.

Henry Ford said: Well give the customer any color he wants as long as

it is black. It was a statement by a man who had been on top so long he

thought nothing could dislodge him from that position. He did not

perceive the effects that the changing environment would have on

customers wants and needs, and in particular on their requirements in

terms of the motor car. Increasing consumer affluence, which

developed as the American economy grew in the early part of the

twentieth century, meant that people had more disposable income and

hence more capacity to exercise choice. General Motors recognized

this, but Ford did not. In the late 1920s Ford nearly went out of

business as a result of this myopic approach. General Motors

(Chevrolet) took over as number one in the USA, and Ford did not

catch up until the late 1980s.

Identify the blocks to creative thinking in this case?

What action do you think Mr. Ford should take?

laku dijual. Alasannya, orang disuruh minum air putih

gratis saja enggan, apalagi kalau disuruh membayar

    mahal.

    Mellisa Poe - Kids FACE

In the summer of 1989, an episode of the television show

"Highway to Heaven" disturbed Melissa Poe in Nashville, Tenn. The 9-year-old saw an angel played by Michael Landon take the

viewer 25 years into the future and show what the earth would

look like if no solutions to environmental problems were found.

The earth was dead, there were no trees, children were dying of

    cancer.

Landon spoke at the end of the television show, saying it was not

too late to change this bleak future. "It showed the world that

was my future, and it was a world I couldn't survive in," said Poe.

Trish Poe could see that her daughter was upset and encouragedher to deal with those feelings by taking action.

After watching the "Highway to Heaven" episode, Poe

wrote a letter to then-President George Bush, telling him

how concerned she was and asking him to help. The

president seemed an ideal choice to spread the word about

    saving the environment.

The president eventually did reply, Poe said. Several

months later, the White House sent a form letter that told

her to stay in school and not do drugs. There was no

mention of the environment. "At first it made me angry, but

then it just made me want to do something more," she said.

Poe was recycling, planting trees, talking to friends and

writing letters to newspapers and politicians -- "just anything

to get involved," she said. She recruited six friends to form

Kids F.A.C.E. at Percy Priest Elementary School.

She called billboard companies and convinced them to

donate advertising space. By April of 1990, she had 250

billboards with her letter to Bush posted across the United

States. With the billboards, local news coverage of her

activities and an appearance on the "Today Show," Poe

began to receive letters from other children asking whatthey could do.

Poe suggested to them that they start their own Kids

F.A.C.E. club at school. The result is that Poe's club has

grown from her six friends to 300,000 members in 20

countries. The organization's newsletter, Kids F.A.C.E.

Illustrated, goes out to over 3 million people.

Poe herself will continue to be on the board, but in October

1997, she stepped down as president, handing the reins

over to Rachel Jones and Ashley Craw, both 15. Poe said

she is too old to lead the organization. "There's a lot ofclubs out there that say they're run by kids, but that's not

    exactly true," she said.

"Sometimes people think they can't do much,

    because

they're only one person," Poe said. "But we needthat

one person. When you think in terms of total worldpopulation, one in a million becomes a big number.

One in a million can make a difference.

Konsumen bersedia membayar dengan harga lebih

mahal untuk memperoleh produk-produk yang biaya

produksinya jauh lebih rendah. Ingat, murah bukan

    jaminan untuk laris.

Seorang guru besar pemasaran dari Amerika dalam

suatu konferensi tahunan di New Orland mengatakan,

Price has nothing to do with cost. Harga

Alasannya: ia penemu

BlackBerry. Bersama dengan berbagai situs jaringan sosial,

Tahun 1979, Lazaridis memutuskan kuliah di Universitas

Waterloo jurusan Electrical Engineering bidang ilmu

komputer. Saat menjadi mahasiswa, dia mendapat kontrak

500.000 dollar dari General Motors (GM) untuk

membangun display kontrol jaringan komputer.

mendirikan perusahaan bernama Research in Motion

(RIM).

    The Six Myths of Creativity

In an interview with Fast Company , Teresa Amabile busted

    six cherished myths about creativity.

    1. Creativity Comes From Creative Types

    2. Money Is a Creativity Motivator

    3. Time Pressure Fuels Creativity

    4. Fear Forces Breakthroughs5. Competition Beats Collaboration

    6. A Streamlined Organization Is a Creative Organization

Very creative people are often thought to be highly intelligent. While this is

occasionally true, evidence shows that the connection between intelligence andcreativity is not straightforward. Sternberg and OHara (1999) found people withlow IQs are not likely to be exceptionally creative but above 120, there is nocorrelation between traditional intelligence and creativity. They even suggest thatindividuals with very high IQs may be rewarded so much for their analyticalthinking that they do not reach their creative potential.Sternberg, R. J. and OHara, L. (1999). Creativity and intelligence (251-272). In R. J.Sternberg, Creativity handbook, (pp. 251-272). New York: Cambridge University

    Prioritas

agung mulia hanya menjadi khayalan semata.
