LifeSkills Training (LST) LifeSkills Training (LST) is a school-based curriculum proven to target the fundamental reasons why students engage in behaviors that put them at risk

Thirteen 45-50 minute lessons implemented in the classroomIndividual lessons include: Self-Image, Making Decisions, Smoking, Alcohol, Marijuana, Advertising, Coping with Anxiety, Coping with Anger, Communication Skills, Social Skills, Assertiveness and Problem Gambling Awareness

LST promotes healthy alternatives to risky behavior through activities designed to help youth enhance cognitive and behavioral competency to reduce and prevent a variety of health risk behaviors

Infusion project targets students in 6th grade

Session Goal: To provide students with information to help prevent problem gambling

Increased knowledge about gambling & problem gambling

Increased awareness of risks associated with gambling activities

Increased knowledge of the signs & symptoms of problem gambling

Increased understanding of the probability

Increased knowledge of local and state problem gambling support services

Through this program we are also able to disseminate information to parents through home activities and bulk textinghopefully generating home discussions. Today we talked about problem gambling and its effects. Ask your child to describe two risks associated with problem gambling. Information is also infused into other lessons such as the advertising lesson using the Oregon lottery billboards
