Why not Chrome and G Suite
● Need Internet unless file has been set to work offline
● Free does not always equal quality
● Pervasive and invasive
● G Suite core apps not as robust as Office or iWork
● G Suite mobile apps not robust
● Security concerns: make sure that file sharing settings are correct
What’s the difference...
Personal Google Account:
Limited free storage in Drive
Access to some apps not available
Some apps lack functionality
School Google Account:
Unlimited free storage in Drive
Access to all apps available
More functionality in some apps
Apps vs. Extensions vs. Add-Ons
● Apps: Optimized to work with Chrome Browser. User interface. Very interactive.
○ Examples: Core G Suite Apps, Noteflight, Soundtrap, Soundation
● Extensions: Function like “apps light.” Do not have own interface. Limited
interactivity.
○ Examples: Google Translate, Search, Maps, Screencastify
● Add-Ons: Tools that are specific to a Google App. Work only with that app.
○ Examples: VexTab (for Docs), Doc to Form (for Forms)
