InPro Services
Turnkey and innovative environmental solutions
Inpro Systems was established in 2012, providing water and solids clean up solutions for
the energy sector by optimising proven technologies to create an integrated delivery
solution.
The global market is changing significantly in water and solids clean-up, where many
regions are tightening their environmental specifications in the Oil and Gas market. Under
OSPAR the requirements will be reduced to 15ppm in 2017.
The intended clean-up will be focused on water over-boarding, drilling cuttings and well
services (workovers).
Utilising Aiken Groups specialist knowledge of project management in the construction of
containerised modules, for both onshore and offshore applications, and their expertise in
the global market, InPro Systems can deliver bespoke, fit-for-purpose, turnkey systems.
Introduction

Oil and Gas Industry Market Drivers
Regulatory
• Changes to legislation & legal
framework
• International treaties,
discharge/disposal limitations
• Environmental discharge
consent limitations
• Enforcement
Industry challenges
• Maturity, effects of mature production &
enhanced recovery techniques -
(increase use of chemicals /water,
production water and workovers)
• Changing requirements relative to current
end-of-life treatment plant
• Costs for local containment, transportation
and disposal (skip and ship)

Market opportunities – ‘3Rs’ Oil & Gas
• Regulations are becoming tougher – are the agreed discharge rates being met?
• Reservoirs and subsea are increasing in complexity, requiring more water and
chemicals
• Remediation of fluid and solid cleanliness impacting both onshore and offshore
Challenges – Oil & Gas Globally
Reservoir:
• Drilling activities
• Chemical injection for well management is
increasing
• Water injection is increasing:
− Extended reach drilling
− Water flooding
− Fracking water pressurisation

Typical Solutions
• Electrocoagulation and Advanced Electrochemical Oxidation, electrochemical
processes for treating diverse wastewater streams
• Cavitation Scrubbing of Solids, stripping gases from liquids and other applications
• Natural Biostimulants and their application to bioremediation and wastewater
treatment
• AquaPurge; an Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) using ozone and UV to treat
produced water and other wastewater streams

The Process – Using Proven technologies
• Crushing to break up/grade contaminated solids below a maximum size for optimum
processing
• Cavitation scrubbing to hydrodynamically generate cavitation vapour bubbles and
harness the energies released when these bubbles collapse to separate oils and
hydrocarbons from solid particulates
• Oil separation to recover the majority of the released hydrocarbons
• Electrocoagulation to continuously treat and recycle all process water to remove
dispersed/emulsified hydrocarbons, larger organic molecules and polymers,
suspended particulates, heavy metals, alkaline earths
• Optionally ultrafiltration, high pressure reverse osmosis and vacuum effect evaporation
to remove salts washed from drill cuttings, e.g. to comply with current Canadian
legislation

Technology – Hydrodynamic Cavitation Scrubbing
• This process utilises the energy release and intense pressures produced by
hydrodynamic cavitation bubble collapse to separate the hydrocarbons from the solid
particulates

Discharge of treated water
Contaminated solids are prepared and broken down to
a maximum size, e.g. 10mm using a cone crusher.
Next the solids are loaded into the scrubbing unit, which
uses hydrodynamically generated cavitation to separate
adhering oils/hydrocarbons from solid particulates
Separated materials and process water are ejected into
the separator cyclone, which in turn overflows into the
oil/fines separator units, where the oil/hydrocarbons are
collected
The separated solids are discharged from the underflow
of the separator to a screw elevator/ dryer for discharge
into skips
Prior to recirculation or discharge the process water is
treated to remove suspended ultra-fines, dissolved/
emulsified oils and heavy metals using
electrocoagulation systems

Cavitation Scrubbing in Soil Remediation
• Mobile and static plant use cavitation scrubbing to separate and recover hydrocarbons
from sand, soils and sludges
• Environmentally effective, reduces residual hydrocarbon contamination of solids to 1.0-
0.05% depending porosity of the substrate and the contaminants
• Process solution is treated and recycled to remove emulsified oils, hydrocarbons,
BOD, COD, suspended solids and heavy metals
• Cavitation systems proven in the clean-up of old industrial sites, e.g. Isle of Grain oil
refinery (UK) – two previous generation systems supplied to UK Maritime and
Coastguard for emergency response use
