ONION FACTS
Onions add the per-fect combination of flavorand nutrition to any dish.
Yellow, red and whiteonions from the UnitedStates are available yearround. Fresh onions areavailable from March to
August. Storage onions, harvested in early fall, aremarketed the remainderof the year.
Chopped or slicedonions can be stored in asealed container in therefrigerator for up to sev-en days.
To reduce tears whencutting onions, use asharp, straight-edgeknife. Refrigerating an
onion about 30 minutesprior to cutting will alsolessen the chemical reac-tion that causes tears.
Choose fresh onions
with thin, light-coloredskins free of spots orblemishes. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated loca-
tion.

BUSINESSOFTHE
Dr. Melody O. Quenzer, owner of Eye-QOptometry understands both sides of thepatient/doctor relationship of eye healthcare. She was born with crossed eye (strabismus)and lazy eye (amblyopia) and, by the age of 18
months, had her first pair of glasses and firstsurgery.
For her, those lifelong trips to heroptometrist and ophthalmologist created aninterest in the field.
As long as I can remember, she states, Ialways wanted to be a doctor; and, during mylast year of college, I decided that optometrywas the perfect career for me.
Dr. Quenzer grew up in the Sacramento areaand attended California State University,Sacramento where she received a degree inbiology. She went on to earn her doctorate from the New England College of Optometry inBoston, in May of 1999. Following that, she was in private practice in South Lake Tahoe untilSeptember of 2008 when she decided to move back to the Sacramento vicinity and pursue herdream of owning her own business, which evolved into Eye Q Optometr y.
Eye-Q Optometry has two wonderful and experienced employees Fareha Anwar and AnneCook, who are multitalented in making everyone feel comfortable and providing excellent careand assistance from filling out paperwork to fittings and selection. Dr. Quenzer is available to
treat eye care emergencies 24 hours a day.Located in the Sterling Point Shopping Center, near Raleys, the practice offers the latest in
fashion eye wear for all ages, styles and budgets as well as comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and emergency eye care. Laser & Cataract evaluations and surgical co-management with leading ophthalmologists are also available.
Dr. Quenzer loves the smaller, intimate feeling of Lincoln. Her passions include spending timewith family and friends, and taking on the challenge of being the best optometrist she can. Sheenjoys drawing, something she has done since a child, exercising, dancing, and listening to music.
Dr. Quenzer feels very fortunate for the new referrals and returning patients thus far that havehelped build her practice.
Stop by and say hi to the staff and view some of the great eye wear selections they offer. Ifscheduling permits, Dr. Quenzer would love to meet you as well.
