Dear LYC Members: First there are a couple of items that were not completed last year during the construction period and a couple of thank you to members. 1. Currently the landscaping committee has been meeting and has several landscaping designs for the outside at LYC. 2. We are also getting proposals for furniture for the new deck and bar. There are some newly completed additions in bar and kitchen. Thank you to Rob and Abby Ruhlman, they have added some color to the bar by re-hanging the burgees from other yacht clubs along the soffit. We also have addi- tional china place settings, a stainless steel kitchen utensil rack and additional stainless steel shelving in the kitchen thanks to Emory Wolf. As a reminder please be sure that you have transmitted a current Certificate of Insurance to Cindy in the LYC office prior to this springs boat launch. And I hope to see you at the club.

We also have addi-tional china place settings, a stainless steel kitchen utensil rack and additional stainless steel shelving in the kitchen thanks to Emory Wolf.

As a reminder please be sure that you have transmitted a current Certificate of Insurance to Cindy in the LYC office prior to this springs boat launch. And I hope to see you at the club.

Mark Shapiro, Senior member, asked to place in abeyance. His boat was damaged. Ap-proved by vote.

Linda Graham, Senior member, asked to go into abeyance. She has sold her boat and eval-uating options. Approved by vote.

Bryan Inithair is resigning his Social membership. Approved by vote Lynn Barley is resigning his Social membership. Approved by vote. Barbara Ruhlman is resigning her Social membership. Approved by vote.

Commodore Carrabine requested that an honorary membership be extended to Ruhlman due to her longevity with the club. All agreed. Larry to communicate.

Treasurers Report (Hunt) – Report attached. Positive news, the club came out of the unusual year very well. Membership can be improved (more members needed), we did better than the prior but not to plan.

Cash balances were $275K at year end. The member bond fund was $155K of this amount.

Club is in good financial condition – after the tough year of construction.

Question:

Are we going to address how to get new members – what are we going to do? Jim Kubik identified that there were 35 people that were at the boat show that expressed an interest. Discussion to be tabled until the Membership section.

A motion was made by Szabo and seconded by Emory to accept the report. Approved by vote.

Manager’s Report (Orlowski) – Report attached. There were positive signs in the end of the year. November and December sales year over year (2016 to 2015) were roughly $23K better - $60.6K in 2015 versus $83.5 in 2016.

We continue to work through the transition to the new operating system from the old one. We will review security for the member only access site once the system is stable and fully functional.

Parties continue to be a good revenue source. The kitchen and bar were changed and remodeled during the shutdown. We have good

work flow and better management of the areas. The January boat show was a big success – 3 membership applications are already in pro-

cess with the remaining 32 being called for appointments. We will not be holding a large party for membership and instead will be setting up board meetings with the indi-viduals.

Question: What is happening with the 32 people that are interested (prior comment from above)?

Need to make contact and get appointments. Larry to handle meetings and will set up quickly. An email will be sent to ask board members to participate – please respond quickly to be included.

Harbor Masters Report – No Report. Carrabine, discussed the job description and work that has been done by Marquiss, Cunningham, Vittardi and Carrabine to get the appropriate training for the Harbormaster dock hands.

There was discussion on the projects and the direction that we are taking. Due to the nature of the dis-cussion notes were suspended. Please connect with the Commodore with any questions.

Fleet Captain (Vittardi) – No Report

Committee Reports (Following)

Membership Report (Kubik) – Report Attached. Jim indicated that we have applications are pend-ing for 3 new members. Each are going through the process, only one can be voted on today.

We will be posting application electronically – and vote as the process is set. Marquiss will handle the communication process.

Comments:

It is nice to see the club vibrant on Thursday and Pasta night – the club will show well and with the people in the club present a compelling picture to a new member. Ask them to come during that time.

Now is the time to get these people in as they are paying for dock fees in other clubs. Since we have waited, are we potentially losing opportunities? Let’s get these people in now. Larry to handle.

What are we going to set up to get new members – how do we create awareness. What are we do-ing to get these members?

Jamie and Nicco are now part of the membership team and will work with Kubik to answer the questions and assist in bringing in new members. Larry will set the meeting.

Finance Committee (Hunt) – Report attached. Mostly personnel issues discussed in the committee. The club remains in good shape.

House and Grounds Report (Cunningham) – Reviewing landscaping proposals for the spring, 2 quotes with a 3rd on the way. In the near future will be the target to be completed – before the season.

Concrete is being looked at for the edge of the deck for south deck to the south wall. New drain tile was installed for the front of the building to help manage water run off toward the

building. The new drain tile appears to be working well. There is a new leak in the front of the building around the windows that needs repaired. The con-

struction company has been called. Erosion by the gas house needs to be addressed, the extra concrete from the South wall project can

be added to fix the issue. Walter Span – looking at how to tie in the West Wall and railing. More to follow on this project. The repair for the front gate for the remote entry – in process to review a new entry method. Furniture – we need, when do we order? Cunningham in charge. Hunt expressed the interest to

order the furniture now. Landscaping, furniture, and security system. Refer to the budget for the breakdown for the various pieces.

A sub-committee was created to assist in this project. Bevins and Condone will help to get bids and present them to the board.

Regatta and Sailing Fleet (Ruhlman) – Report attached. Rainbow Babies is the fundraiser for the Regatta in 2017. The date for the Regatta is ***July 2017

Rules (Szabo) – Attached. A full 42 page document representing the Constitution and Rules were disseminated. So far, comments have been received and they are very good.

Comments:

Gratitude for the work that is done. Thank you. Need any board comments by early next week. Marquiss to send out a reminder. Domestic partner discussion – offers the same status as the spouse? The domestic partner is

renewed annually, so the provision to offer them the same treatment as a spouse is not necessary. Szabo will review and place it into the document.

Assistant treasurer – needed due to the complexity of the position and to maintain the conti-nuity of the club.

Good idea for only one person to sign checks – double signature checks are not a norm and not recognized by the banking system.

Are their methods in place to monitor and manage the checks and money? Discussion - yes What is the difference between the club officers and board of directors? Addressed, the

board are the officers. There was a fair amount of discussion on various sections and how they will impact the

club, the membership and staff. The goal is to present this to the membership in April. Should there be a smoking area where smoking is allowed – versus the current policy.

Make a suggestion. All comments to John by early next week.

The process - send a note to Szabo – and it will be addressed.

Grievance (Szabo) – No Report

Restaurant and Bar (Lovinger) – No Report. The board needs to be aware that Antwone is going to have a second knee surgery. Modifications to the kitchen will be made to accommo-date the injury and keep the kitchen running. Someone has been hired to take care of the kitch-en, new staff during this time of recuperation.

Entertainment Committee (Wolf) – No Report

Community Outreach committee (Sparano) – No Report

Officers Comments (Carrabine) – No comments

Unfinished Business (Carrabine) – None

New Business (Carrabine) –

Marquiss, described the day to clean up. A project plan and day to clean up the club will be posted. Fix the place up for the summer. More to follow.

House and grounds may be overwhelmed by the furniture. See note in that section for reso-lution.

Meeting Adjourned – Marquiss motioned and Ginsburg seconded the motion to adjourn at 19:20. Approved by vote.
