2. THE ARTISTRY® SIGNATURE SHADE FINDER

The combination of Level and Undertone is what will determine your perfect shade. In the chart above, match your Level in the left column with your Undertone. For example, if your skin tone Level is Level 1, and your undertone is Warm, you would be L1*W1 (lightest) or L1*W2 (slightly darker than L1*W1).

WArM (W): For skin that has a golden or olive hue, with wrist veins that appear more green than blue. Wearing browns, dark greens, oranges, or yellows suits you.

nEutrAL (n): For skin that has an even-toned, neutral hue that is neither pink nor golden, with wrist veins that appear a little green and also a little blue. Wearing any color suits you.

CooL (C): For skin that has a pink or rosy hue, with wrist veins that appear more blue than green. Wearing pinks, purples, blues, and whites suits you.

L E V E LThe depth of your natural skin tone. Natural skin tones vary, so Artistry® foundations are categorized into six natural levels – from light to dark – to make finding your shade easy and more accurate.

Choose the row of swatches in the Artistry® Signature Shade Finder that most closely matches your natural depth of skin color. Here is an easy way to gauge:

EVEN: APPLICATION TIPS

To quickly develop your confidence with the EVEN step, Artistry® color recommends mastering these basic application techniques.

FOUNDATION

1. Perfect Liquid Foundation Technique

Work in sections to create a perfected look every time.

• Apply a small amount of foundation to the back of your hand. Doing this allows product to warm up so as to get the best color result.

• Apply foundation with a foundation brush for the best results, but fingertips or a sponge may be used.

• Start by applying a dab of foundation to lips; this will allow you to see any imperfections on the skin more clearly because the whole face will have the same color value.

• Beginning in center of face, apply foundation sweeping outward from the center of the face.

• Move to other areas of the face, blending toward hairline.

• For areas that require more coverage, apply more foundation by tapping it onto face. (Sweeping motion may remove the first application.)

2. Perfect Powder Foundation Technique

Using your cosmetic sponge or your large powder brush, apply powder foundation:

• Across the forehead.

• Down the top and sides of nose.

• Across the cheek toward the ear.

• Around the lips.

• Onto the chin and blend away at the jawline.

• Finish with a very light application to the eyelids.


4. Fast and Flawless Face

Accentuate skin by evening out skin tone with a lightweight and natural foundation:

• Use a natural matte finish foundation, such as Artistry Exact Fit® Powder Foundation.

• For a moderate coverage, use the sponge side of the applicator.

• For more sheer coverage, use the velvet side of the applicator, applying with a light touch.

3. Get Dewy, Perfected Skin

• Apply a small amount of Artistry® foundation to back of hand.

• Mix this with a smaller amount of Artistry Youth Xtend® Serum Concentrate.

• Once this mixture is well blended, apply to skin in circular motion using a fluffy powder brush.

How to achieve the look and feel of dewy, perfected skin every day:

• Apply Artistry Youth Xtend® Serum Concentrate over clean skin.

• Massage Artistry Youth Xtend® Moisturizer over top to lock in moisture.

• Blend Artistry Youth Xtend® Lifting Smoothing Foundation onto skin to even and perfect.

5. Secret to Radiant Skin

Overall illumination makes your whole face brighten.

• Make sure skin is well moisturized before applying makeup. Use Artistry Ideal Radiance® Illuminating Moisturizer for an instantly hydrating, radiant look.

• Apply Artistry® Concealer to any discolorations. Use brush or buff with fingertips. Allow it to set for 60 seconds before applying foundation over top.

• Apply Artistry Ideal Radiance® Illuminating CC Cream over concealer and to rest of face as needed.

• If needed, revisit any visible discoloration and apply more concealer.

6. 24-Hour Flawless Skin Perfection

This brush trick gives a skin-perfecting look and helps foundation wear on and on.

• Apply a small amount of Artistry Exact Fit® long-wearing foundation to the back of your hand; this warms the foundation, helping to create a more natural result.

• Use a fluffy powder brush to apply foundation to the face: tap the brush into the foundation on the back of your hand, then apply to your face using a circular motion.

• Start in the center of your face, on and around your nose, then work outward to other areas.

• Create an extra-polished finish: After sweeping loose powder over face with brush, tap a small amount of loose powder into palm of your hand. Rub hands together to distribute the powder, then press palms into the skin, and lightly glide fingers over skin to create a poreless, polished look.

8. Bye-Bye Blemishes and Imperfections

Place, tap, and repeat for best results.

• Place Artistry® Concealer directly over and around blemish with a small concealer brush or a cotton swab.

• Gently tap or pat foundation over the concealer; use a sponge or your fingers.

• Repeat these steps if the blemish is still visible.

• Set the concealer with a light application of Artistry Exact Fit® Perfecting Loose Powder.

CONCEALER

7. Concealer 1-2-3

Artistry® tips for successful concealing every time.

• Apply Artistry® Concealer after foundation and before powder.

• When concealing under the eyes, keep concealer to the dark areas only. Do not apply concealer directly underneath the eye as this can emphasize under-eye puffiness, fine lines.

• The heat from your fingertip will warm your concealer, making it easier to blend. So consider depositing concealer onto the back of your hand first instead of directly onto your skin.

9. How to Get an Instant Eye Lift

To brighten, refresh, and give the face an instant lift—the secret is in the mix.

• Deposit a small amount of Artistry® Concealer onto back of your hand.

• Mix it with a smaller amount of Artistry Youth Xtend® Eye Cream, using your hand as a palette.

• Gently pat this mixture under eyes, starting at outer corner and working toward nose.

• To finish, apply concealer to inner and outer corners of eyes, onto tops of cheekbones, and under the arch of each brow.

12. Long-Lasting Shine Control

Apply different ways for shine-free hours.

• For a matte look: Sweep a translucent oil-absorbing powder, like Artistry Exact Fit® Translucent Pressed Powder, over the face twice. Once to set makeup in place; repeat to ensure a lasting matte look.

• Want an even more poreless, polished look? After sweeping powder over face, tap a small amount of loose powder into your palm and then rub hands together. Gently press palms onto face, then lightly massage powder into skin with fingers.

11. Powder Application Tips

• Pressed powder: sweep brush or applicator sponge over the compact.

• Loose powder: tap a small amount of powder into the cap, then press a fluffy powder brush into powder to distribute product evenly.

Using your brush or applicator sponge, apply:

• Across the forehead.

10. Illuminated From Within

One product gives different ways to get a glow.

• For ultimate results, use Artistry Ideal Radiance® Illuminating CC Cream as part of the Artistry Ideal Radiance® skincare system. It will help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation while it evens skin tone and enhances radiance.

• Wear Illuminating CC Cream alone anytime you’d like less coverage than a liquid foundation but still want an even skin tone with a radiant finish.

WHEN TO USE LOOSE POWDER VS. TRANSLUCENT PRESSED POWDER

14. Setting Makeup With Powder

Always use a loose powder to set your foundation. This ensures a strong set and an even finish to the skin.

• Tap a small amount of Artistry Exact Fit® Perfecting Loose Powder into its cap.

• Use a fluffy powder brush; press brush into the cap, then tap off excess. Before tapping, turn brush over: this will distribute powder evenly through the brush.

• Sweep brush over face to set your foundation.

• Repeat process if a more matte look is desired.

• If a more luminous look to the skin is desired, sweep brush just on the center of your face, leaving a soft glow along the outer edges.

How Do I Know if My Customer Wants Contouring?

Customers who are interested in contouring may ask about it. For example, “What do you have for contouring?” or “Do you have anything to help make my cheekbones stand out?”

Customers who already wear a full face of makeup may be interested. For example, “Do you ever use contouring techniques?” or “Are you familiar with face shaping products?”


CONTOURING

Secrets for shaping the face during the EVEN step

What is Contouring?

Contouring means using products to accentuate or change the natural shape of a face—the contours—so they are more noticeable. Contouring is also known as “shaping” and “slimming.” It is often combined with highlighting techniques, which make parts of the face appear lighter and brighter. Customers may want to apply contouring and highlighting to their whole face or just to specific areas (e.g. make nose look more narrow, make cheekbones look more prominent).

How Does Contouring and Highlighting Work? All Artistry® Contouring and Highlighting Tips are Based on Understanding Light and Dark Facial contouring and highlighting follows the same shape-changing principles that you use with clothing. For example: black pants make you look slimmer, while white pants accentuate your curves.

With makeup:

Contouring: Darker areas of the face appear to recede or look smaller.

• Use products with shades deeper than your skin tone

• Wear on the areas you want to minimize (below cheekbone, temples, along jawline, under chin, etc.)

Highlighting: Lighter areas of the face look highlighted and appear to stand out.

• Use products that are lighter than your skin tone, or which reflect light

• Wear on the areas you want to highlight or to make stand out (e.g. cheekbones, above brows, center of nose, etc.)

EXPERT TIP: Contouring and highlighting products do not have to be the same formula. For example: Contour with a darker shade of foundation, and highlight with a multi-tasker.

TECHNIQUES:

1. How to Naturally Contour Your Cheekbones and Jawline

• Start by applying your perfect shade of Artistry Exact Fit® Powder Foundation all over the face.

• To create a narrower shape to your face, use a shade of Artistry Exact Fit® Powder Foundation that is two levels deeper than your skin tone.

• Apply the powder foundation with a brush. Start below cheeks; sweep the brush forward, starting at the ear, directly toward the corner of the mouth.

• Sweep more of this deeper shade on temples and along jawline.

• To seamlessly blend, follow with another application of Artistry Exact Fit® Translucent Pressed Powder to the top of your cheekbones and on brow bones.

• Apply a light catching powder to the top of your cheekbones and above your brow bone.

3. Contouring and Highlighting with Liquid Foundation

Contouring with Darker Foundation

• Apply your liquid foundation as usual, using your favorite shade.

• Select a shade of the same formula, two levels deeper than your shade.

• Apply to area just under cheekbones (to locate, use the middle of the ear and the corners of your mouth as a guideline). Use your fingers, a foundation brush, or a makeup sponge. Sweep this shade from the middle of the ear toward corner of mouth. Be sure and blend the two shades together well so there are no hard lines.

• To soften the jawline, apply the darker shade to the area just under your jaw, then blend to create soft contour.

• To narrow a wide forehead, apply the dark shade to temples, then blend.

Highlighting with Lighter Foundation

• To create the look of natural highlights, select a shade of your liquid foundation that is two shades lighter than your shade.

• Apply on the center of your forehead, to the tops of your cheekbones, and a thin line down the center of your nose and continue to the dent just above your upper lip.

• Use a brush or sponge to blend well.


2. How to Contour Your Nose

Define the bridge of the nose, or narrow a wide nose and make it appear slimmer.

• Select a powder foundation 2-3 shades darker than your foundation shade. Apply it to the tips of your index fingers.

• Place fingertips on either side of bridge of nose (at inner corners of eyes), press lightly, and slide fingers straight down sides of nose.

• Blend out any hard lines, and buff with loose powder to create a softer more natural definition.

DEFINE: APPLICATION TIPS

To quickly develop your confidence with the DEFINE phase, Artistry® color recommends mastering these basic application techniques.

EYE LINING

1. Easy Eyelining

• Using Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil, line upper lash line first. Start at the inner corner of eye, work outward.

• Use short, feathery strokes. Do not worry about creating a perfect line.

• Smudge the line after application using the sponge end of Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil. For longer wear, set in place by smudging a coordinating shade of eye shadow over top of the liner.

• When finished, check the following:

- Is your line a little above the lash line? If so, go back and fill in the gaps by smudging color down into the lashes.

- Is the line broken or crooked? If so, fill in the gaps to connect the line.

4. Basics of Eye Shadow Blending and Placement

Here are the quickest ways to feel confident when applying Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quads:

• Make sure the eye shadow is not applied past the outer corner of your eye. Keep the eye shadow inside the outer corner to add lift to your eye.

• Make sure that you cannot see where one shade of shadow ends and another begins. Blending creates a soft and diffuse look.

• Start with only a small amount of product on the applicator or eye shadow brush—it’s much easier to add shadow than it is to take it away.

• To avoid redoing concealer, apply Artistry® Concealer and foundation after eye shadow. To collect extra eye shadow dust under the eye, first tap a small amount of an Artistry® eye cream under the eye; do not rub it in. Next, place a sponge over the area and press it into the skin. The eye shadow dust will be absorbed by the sponge, leaving the skin ready for concealer and foundation.

EYE COLOR APPLICATION

3. Mix and Maximize Eye Shadow Shades

• Wear shades one at a time, or in any combination. Want it all? Apply shades from left to right. Here’s how:

- Use the largest, lightest shade as a Highlighter all over eyelid, from lash line to under the eyebrow.

- Then work left to right across the bottom row: add the lefthand shade as a Crease color in the crease and at outer corner of eye.

- Next, Accent with the middle color: apply to center of lid, blending outward toward corner.

- Finish with the deep color on the right for Definition, smudging it along the upper lash line.

• To use shadow as liner, apply Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quads against lash line using the tip of the applicator or an angled eye shadow brush.

2. Liquid Eyeliner Tricks

• Begin line one fourth of the way across your lid from your nose.

• Position the tip of the Artistry Signature Eyes® Automatic Liquid Eyeliner brush to the base of your lashes.

• Draw the liner out toward the outer corner of your eye.

• Having difficulties drawing a neat line? Make dots at the base of the lashes and then connect the dots.

5. Basics of Eye Shadow Finishes

• Matte: Least-reflective shades that help smooth skin’s appearance or create contour.

• Shimmer: Sophisticated glimmer shades to highlight under the brow or as all-over wash of light.

• Metallic: Maximum shimmer for lash line or blended into the crease for added depth.

6. Easy Everyday Eye Shadow

Make the most of any one shade.

• One of the secrets to makeup is placement. For everyday eye shadow, use your fingertip or an applicator to apply a light layer of Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quads on eyelid.

• Applying it after—and over top of—your Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil will keep the liner in place even longer.

• Then blend shadow color up toward the crease line.

8. Perfect Filled-In Brows

Simple measurements help create the perfect brow every time.

• Brush the brows up and over in the direction of the hair growth.

• Use a pencil to mark the starting point, arch point, and end point for the brow.

• Hold the pencil vertically at the inner corner of the eye.

• The starting point of the brow should be directly above the inner corner of the eye. Mark this with your pencil.

• Now, place the pencil in a vertical line from the outside edge of the iris to the brow. The highest point of the arch should be on the line mark it with your pencil.

• Angle the pencil from the outer corner of the nose to the outer corner of the eye. This is where the brow should end. Mark with your pencil.

• Using short, controlled strokes, use the Artistry® Automatic EyeBrow Pencil to etch in the brow following your guide.

• Blend with a brow brush. BROWS

7. Modern Brow Tips

How-to’s for fashionable and flattering brows.

• To create lift in your brow, apply a light, shimmery shade from an Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad just under the arch of the brows. This helps define the arch.

• If you have close-set eyes, start the brows a little farther out from the nose.

• If you have wide-set eyes, start the brows a little closer to the nose.

• If brows look too dark, select a lighter shade pencil or soften the color after it’s applied by combing the brows to distribute the color.

9. Control and Shape Brows

Mascara makes a gorgeous brow-tamer.

• After applying your mascara to your lashes with any Artistry® mascara, wipe mascara wand with tissue to remove excess mascara from wand, then sweep the wand through brows to create fullness and definition.

• If brows need more definition, brush brows up with the brush on the end of the Artistry® Automatic EyeBrow Pencil.

• Fill in any sparse areas to perfect brow shape.

11. Get Volume, Curl, and Lift with Mascara

Maximize your mascara by starting on top of lashes.

• Sweep Artistry Signature Eyes Volume Mascara® over top of lashes using an up and down motion, then sweep wand up under lashes.

• Wiggle wand for a second at lash base to create more volume at base of lashes, then move wand through lash tips.

12. Red Carpet Lashes

Different wand movements create definition and Red Carpet Length to your lashes:

• Tap the brush wand of the Artistry Signature Eyes Length & Definition Mascara® over top of lashes.

• Now sweep up and under, pulling wand through lashes.

• Turn the wand vertically and—with the tip of wand—sweep back and forth over lash tips.

• Wait one minute for formula to set and repeat until desired effect is achieved.

MASCARA

10. Basics of Mascara Care

What every mascara wearer should know.

• Replace mascara every three months. This avoids the changes that happen to formulas when air is introduced, and helps maintain a smooth and even application every time.

• Never share your mascara with another person. You will be able to guarantee your mascara stays sanitary and each application remains comfortable.

13. How to Create Bigger, Brighter Eyes

An easy tip to make any eyes appear more open and prominent.

• Fill eyelid from outer eye to inner eye with a medium tone shade from Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quads. Shimmer finishes work best, versus Matte or Metallic.

• Then apply an accent color to the center of the eyelid and blend left and right.

• Smudge a dark shade of Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil along upper lash line and extend toward outer corner. Soften the line with sponge end of pencil.

• Finish with a strong highlighting shade from an Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad on the brow bone.

16. Hooded Area

The eyelid is pronounced, sometimes shadowing the eye.

Goal: Minimize the appearance of the eyelid.

• Apply a light color shade from an Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad to the entire lid.

• Keeping the eyes open, apply a darker color of eye shadow to the hooded area above the eyelid.

• The darker color minimizes the appearance of the hooded area and the lighter color brings the lid forward, opening up the eye.

WHAT’S YOUR EYE SHAPE

These techniques use light and dark shadows and sometimes liner placement to change the shape of the eye.

14. Deep Set Eyes

The eyes are set back beneath a prominent brow bone.

Goal: Bring eyes forward.

• Line the upper and lower lid with a medium shade of Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil.

• Apply a shimmer shade of eye shadow on the lid and into the crease. The shimmer in the formula creates the illusion of bringing the eyelid forward, minimizing the depth under the brow.

15. Single Eyelid Eyes

The space between the eyes is greater than the width of one eye.

Goal: Eyes appear closer together.

• Keep makeup simple to make a single eyelid appear more open and prominent.

• Use a medium-toned shade from an Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad to fill two-thirds of the eyelid from outer eye to inner eye.

• Apply Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil to the entire eye; focus more on the inner corner.

• Finish with a strong highlighting shade of eye shadow on the brow bone.

17. Double Lidded Eyes

These eyes have a thin second lid above the upper lash line.

Goal: Maximize the appearance of the lid.

• Use a matte, medium shade from an Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad to fill in the contour from outer eye to inner eye. Avoid shimmer or metallic colors.

• Apply a lighter shade to fill in lash line from the outer to the inner corner.

• Apply the same shade along the bottom lash line.

Goal: Play them up by emphasizing the upswing at the corners and highlight their shape.

The outer corners of the eyes take a downward dip.

Goal: Lift the appearance of the eyes’ outer corners.

• Blend this color up and around into the crease to add a lift.

• Apply Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil to upper lids only; at outer corners, wing the eyeliner up slightly rather than follow the natural downward slope.

20. Small Eyes I

These eyes appear small because they either have a shortened or more prominent brow area.

Goal: Make eyes appear bigger.

• To make small eyes appear larger, apply the lightest color in an Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad to the entire lid.

• Apply a darker color of eye shadow to the crease, focused on the outer edges.

• Apply the darker color in the crease and the highlight on the lid brings the lid forward, making the eyes appear larger.

21. Small Eyes II

These eyes appear small because they either have a shortened or more prominent brow area.

Goal: Use light and dark shades to create the appearance of more lid space.

• Blend a medium shade from an Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad onto the middle of the eyelid, from the base of the lash line to above the natural crease. It should be visible even when the eye is open.

• Then blend the medium shade shadow outward and across the eye; the shadow should get wider as you get closer to the outer corner of the eye. This enhances the appearance of the crease.

• Apply eyeliner to upper lash line. Start two-thirds from inner corner and extend toward outer corner.

• Apply a highlighter eye shadow beneath the brow bone, blend it down to the medium-tone shadow.

• Apply mascara to upper lashes only.

1. Blush Perfectly: Choosing the Perfect Shade

The secret to your perfect blush shade is in the palm of your hand. To choose your shade of Artistry Signature Color® Blush:

• Close your hand and make a tight fist.

• Open your hand, and hold it next to a selection of blush shades.

• Select the shade of Artistry Signature Color® Blush that most closely resembles the skin tone at your just-pressed fingertips and palm. This is your best natural shade.

4. How to Add a Pop of Cheek Color

Looking for a more youthful flush—or to give your look a midday pick-me-up?

• Apply Artistry Signature Color® Blush to the “apple” of your cheeks only.

• Avoid overapplying for this technique by using brush to “tap” color onto skin versus sweeping.

3. How to Create Naturally Defined Cheeks

To create definition on your cheeks, use two colors of Artistry Signature Color® Blush: one in your brighter blush color, the other in a contrasting shade.

• Apply the more contrasting blush shade with a blush brush.

• Begin by placing brush on the face at the middle of your ear. Sweep this shade toward the tip of your nose; allow the brush to lift off your skin as you sweep forward.

• Complete with bottom lip: Keep your knuckle anchored; draw a horizontal line in the center of your lower lip first, then draw liner outward to each corner, following your natural lip shape.

• When applying lipstick directly from the tube, never press too hard. Open mouth slightly for easier application.

• When using a lip brush, do not use too much lip product at a time. It is better to reapply a few times.

• Apply gloss and lipstick to lips using your ring finger; it can make application easier and help color stay inside the lip line. Using your ring finger can help you achieve a light stain on lips. A bare finger can be used to soften the edges of lip liner, too.

• Blot lips together lightly for a perfect blend.

Product: Concealer

• Dot a small amount of concealer onto the dark areas under the eyes and onto any discoloration. Using your finger, gently pat concealer into skin to blend.

Step 2: DEFINE

Product: Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad (two shades), Artistry Signature Eyes® Automatic Liquid Liner, Artistry Signature Eyes Length & Definition Mascara®

• Sweep the lighter eye color shade over entire lid—start at lash line and blend up to midway or natural crease. Brush darker shade along crease: start at outer eye and blend inward toward nose, no more than two-thirds of the way across. Tip: Start with a light layer, gradually add more to build the depth of color you want.

• Starting one-fourth of the way across the lid from the nose, apply the tip of the eyeliner brush to the base of the lashes and draw it out toward the outer corner of the eye.

• Place the mascara wand at base of lashes; wiggle it in place to deposit product—this creates the most volume there—then sweep wand up through lash tips.

Step 3: COLOR

Product: Artistry Signature Color® Sheer Lipstick

• Apply lipstick in a single motion, starting from center of lip to sides on both top and bottom, then squeeze lips together.

Step 1: EVEN

• Apply Artistry Ideal Radiance® Illuminating CC Cream. Start applying to the center of your face, working outward one area at a time.

• If you need more coverage apply your perfect shade of Artistry Exact Fit® Powder Foundation using a large powder brush. Apply to the face in a circular motion; start on and around the nose, then move to the other areas of the face one at a time. Finish by lightly dusting your eyelids.

Step 2: DEFINE

Product: Use the skin tone enhancing natural brown tones of Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad in Natural Glow to define your eyes without showing too much.

• Apply shade #3 into the crease and along lower lashes.

• Apply shade #1 to the center of the eyelids; start along base of lashes and blend up.

• For a brighter look, apply shade #1 under brow arch. Buff the shadow to erase any distinct line so that the color fades at the edges.

• Apply Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil in Black along upper lash line. Use the sponge end to smudge the liner into the roots of lashes.

• Apply one coat of Artistry Signature Eyes Volume Mascara® to the top and bottom lashes.

Step 3: COLOR

• Sweep blush brush over Artistry Signature Color® Blush in Peachy Pink. Apply by placing brush on cheek near hairline by middle of the ear, then sweep forward toward corner of mouth.

Sometimes we need our makeup to last all day, because we do not have time for a complete reapplication later. Here’s the key when you need to make a few changes to get ready for the evening: You don’t have to touch up everything.

During the DEFINE step, creating a creamy base allows eye shadow to give a smoky, lasting look.

• Using the back of your hand as a palette, blend a coin-size amount of Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil with Artistry® Concealer until it creates a creamy base.

• Using a brush or your ring finger, smudge a small amount of this creamy base over one eyelid. Start from the base of the lashes and blend up to the crease. Add more as needed, but work quickly.

• Before the creamy base sets, apply a shade from an Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Shadow Quad over it; choose a medium or deep shade for a soft, smoky finish.

• Choose a medium shade if it is a daytime smoky eye look.

- For an evening smoky look, choose a darker, more dramatic shade.

• Start with Artistry Signature Eyes Length & Definition Mascara®. Starting at the base of the lashes then sweeping under and out.

• Follow with one coat of Artistry Signature Eyes Volume Mascara® in the same manner except wiggle the wand at the lash root to create more definition.

• To finish, smudge same Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil along lower lash line.

• Lastly, apply Artistry Signature Eyes Length & Definition Mascara® over lower lashes.

Step 1: EVEN• Add shimmer powder or an illuminating formula of multi-tasker along cheekbones,

across the forehead, and above your upper lip.

• Sculpt and contour: Use a darker shade of loose or pressed powder. Blend this contouring shade flawlessly by starting at the middle of your ear and blending toward the tip of your nose. Add a little more on the “apple” of your cheek for subtle definition.

Step 2: DEFINE• Enhance eyes: Refresh the eye area by patting your favorite eye cream around your

eye; gently pat remaining excess on fingertips onto eyelids, then buff a shade from an Artistry Signature Color® Eye Shadow Quad over the lid to smooth this makeup. Blend a shimmering neutral shade from lash line to crease. Finish eyes by smudging Artistry Signature Color® Longwearing Eye Pencil along upper and lower lashes. The less perfect, the better.

• AS A CONVERSATION STARTER: Makeup makes an incredibly effective conversation starter. A truly professional impression is conveyed by more than just the facts you know and your passion for the business—other factors can also give your customers subconscious and influential signals. So Artistry® color encourages specific demonstration hygiene standards, listed below. We also asked IBOs who are successful selling Artistry® Signature Makeup for helpful image tips that make them feel more credible and trustworthy.

HYGIENE

It’s important to always maintain a clean environment. These procedures help ensure that you and your customers will be safe and feel comfortable trying Artistry® products.

Clean Hands• Always clean your hands (in view of the customer if possible) before

any demonstration.

Brushes• Professional brushes give the best application results. If using brushes, wash

thoroughly and dry them after use.

• If brushes are not available, use disposable items (e.g. cotton pads, sponges, facial tissues, cotton tips); fingers are great for blending, also.

Applicators• Always use disposable applicators—such as cotton tips—never use your

fingers to remove product from a jar or tube.

• Offer the customer the applicator.

• Once the applicator touches you or the customer, throw it away and use a new one to collect more makeup product.

Multi-Taskers, Liquid Foundations, Concealer• Use a cotton tip to remove foundation and concealer from the bottle or tube.

• Place the product on the back of a clean hand and take the product from there.

Powder Foundation, Eye Shadow, Face Powder, Blush• Gently wipe the surface of the compact with a facial tissue. Use the appropriate

disposable applicator or professional brush to collect product and apply.

• Check that the mirror in the compact always remains clean.

Pencils• Sharpen pencils and wipe clean with facial tissue before every use.

Lipstick & Lip Gloss• To avoid direct contact between the lipstick and lips, use a disposable applicator

to gently scrape some of the lipstick from the top of the tube, then apply to lips using fingers or brush.

• Remove lip gloss from the tube using a cotton tip. Never apply the gloss directly to the lips using the attached applicator wand.

Mascara• Dip disposable mascara wand into tube and use to apply. If more mascara is

needed, use a new disposable wand. Discard each disposable wand after use.

The combination of Level and Undertone is what will determine your perfect shade. In the chart above, match your Level in the left column with your Undertone. For example, if your skin tone Level is Level 1, and your undertone is Warm, you would be L1*W1 (lightest) or L1*W2 (slightly darker than L1*W1).

U N D E R T O N EThe amount of warmth vs. coolness in your complexion. Artistry® foundations are divided into three groupings based on Undertone.

WARM (W): For skin that has a golden or olive hue, with wrist veins that appear more green than blue. Wearing browns, dark greens, oranges, or yellows suits you.

NEUTRAL (N): For skin that has an even-toned, neutral hue that is neither pink nor golden, with wrist veins that appear a little green and also a little blue. Wearing any color suits you.

COOL (C): For skin that has a pink or rosy hue, with wrist veins that appear more blue than green. Wearing pinks, purples, blues, and whites suits you.

L E V E LThe depth of your natural skin tone. Natural skin tones vary, so Artistry® foundations are categorized into six natural levels—from light to dark—to make finding your shade easy and more accurate.

Choose the row of swatches in the Artistry® Signature Shade Finder that most closely matches your natural depth of skin color. Here is an easy way to gauge:
