InSitu lecture feedback system InSitu for student Research and development project for adaptive teaching Challenges in mass lectures InSitu for lecturer Research and development Aims to assist learning in mass lectures Difficulties in giving and getting feedback Versatility of students’ backgrounds Adapting teaching according to students Creating interactive conversation instead of monologue A program for Java-enabled smartphone Giving feedback with a push of a button Measuring one’s knowledge by answering questions provided by the lecturer Assists learning by increasing interaction Helps to determine students’ prior- knowledge Makes possible to adjust teaching real- time according to feedback of students Prototypes of the system will be developed in order to test various approaches of using large amount of devices The network is initially formed with Bluetooth technology Full suppor for GPRS and WLAN clients will also be added in later point Compared to similar system the InSitu has minimal equipment costs The system is being developed by two part-time research assistants at the moment During fall 2007 the system will be tested with 20-30 simultanious clients The main goal of the research is to enable 200 devices to operate effectively within the system The prototypes being developed will be tested in the lectures of information technology Project is funded by the deparment of mathematical information technology Further information: PhD Vesa Lappalainen [email protected]
