Dear all,
I assume most of you are already inpreparations for our Congress and PartneringEvent in Dublin. Flights and accommodationhave been booked. My Agenda just startedand you are busy making appointments.Dublin is close.
This is my last Chairman’s report and I amsure my successor will do the utmost to makeIELA even more beneficial for you, themembers.
So what has been achieved over the lasttwo years?
We have built a very stable financialbackground for the Association over the lastyears. This, of course, is the base for any furthergrowth and development of IELA. On this basis,we wanted to create something new, something unique (again!) in our industry. Soin January, we had the first ever OperationsSummit, which was a great success for allparticipants and their respective employers.
Besides that, we had our Winter Seminar inJanuary 2015 in Zurich and of course theWinter Seminar will take place again inJanuary 2017. Dates and programme will beannounced later this year and we will havevery good news about the Winter Seminar. This will be announced during the Congress!
Over the last years a lot of new, qualified IELAmembers could be won and we have coveredsome white spot countries, such as Peru andIran. We have exceeded the magical numberof 150 members this year! Simply wonderful!
A lot of work has been put into severalprojects and there is more to come in the nexttwo years. You will be amazed.
I would like to take this opportunity tothank my fellow members of the Board ofManagement for their support during myChairmanship and of course I would like tothank you all again, for putting your trust inme and electing me Chairman of the Board.
I am standing for re-election to the Board ofManagement in Dublin and I would be morethan happy to serve IELA for another term!
In the past we often heard the sentence“Don’t ask what the association can do foryou, but what you can do for the Association!”We heard this sentence a lot, but it is so true.Be active in the Association, deliver your bitand you will get more back!
See you all in Dublin! t
Cheers

HUMANITARIAN FACE OF IELA
We at IELA feel ourselves as members of a big family and contact each other to reach out for ourprofessional needs.
I would like to highlight the humanitarian face of the IELA family.
One of my close friends was on a visit to the United States and was travelling to Las Vegas wherehe had a stroke and was hospitalised in emergency condition.
When I came to know about it, I immediately tried to review my contacts in the USA, particularlyin Las Vegas, when it suddenly struck me that there is an IELA member in Las Vegas. I picked upthe phone and called Steve Barry whom I had met only during the previous IELA Congresses.
He immediately called my friend’s family and offered all his assistance. Unfortunately, my frienddid not survive and passed away. Steve and his wife personally called the family of my friend andguided them through the procedures and documentation process for the transfer of mortal remainsof my friend to India.
This is an example of the IELA Family bonding and a reminder that its members reach out toeach other in the hour of need.
Any words of appreciation for support extended towards Steve in these circumstances areinsufficient for his gesture.
I am writing this down to highlight the strong bond IELA members have and which differentiatesIELA from other associations. t

Be prepared for Dublin!
From 25th to 28th June 2016 we, IELA, will once again gather for our annual General Assembly andCongress in Dublin, Ireland. Over 250 Congress participants will be meeting at the DoubleTree by HiltonDublin - Burlington Road for the largest Congress held in IELA's history!
The topic this year: "Inspire Business - Welcome Tomorrow".
We will start the next decade of IELA's history not only with the growth in the number of eventdelegates, but also with the growth in the number of members of the association: Since the 30th
anniversary in Singapore, IELA welcomed more than 10 new members out of which five representnew countries: IELA is glad to have members in Estonia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Lithuania,Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Peru now as well.
I’m very pleased to share with you our 2016 Congress highlights:
> Two outstanding motivational speakers addressing the topics “how do we navigate throughchallenges” and “developing the strategic horizons to shape markets to your advantage“.
> The IELA FORUM focusing on Operations Health & Safety including overall protection issuesin the Exhibition Industry (see more details on page 16).
The Forum as panel discussion is based on IELA's initiative "Building the Bridge". This initiativestarted back in 2014 to bring together all players from the industry like organisers, venues, associations and service providers as well as exhibitors. The goal is to evaluate and strengthenpartnerships between the different players of the exhibition and event industry and we are veryproud this year to welcome such a distinguished panel of experts to discuss about this very prominentand needed task.
Last but not least: As this edition of the IELA REPORT is going for print, 375 delegates representing 54countries committed their participation to the IELA PARTNERING EVENT in Dublin. This year's largestindustry event platform is expected to attract over 400 delegates! The importance of IELA's PartneringEvent for the industry is enormous. Compared to the last event in Europe, taking place in Amsterdam, the growth of registrations is above any expectation. Not only does the event attract loyal attendeesparticipating for the fifth time in a row, but also motivates over 130 new delegates to attend for thefirst time.
The IELA Team is very much looking forward meeting you all in Dublin!

IELA FORUM 2016: OH&S in the Exhibition Industry - Quo vadis?
In these Health & Safety and Security conscious days, the advantage for organisers to work with IELA members, as trusted andreliable logistics providers, became a key factor in intelligence operations. Trusted and reliable logistics partners, well trained, experienced and well informed, can make the difference in a world in which we all became vulnerable.
All industry actors, Venues, Organisers, Freight Forwarders, Stand Constructors, Exhibitors are responsible to seek to encourage andshare best practices across all industry players, with a series of very prudent measures to protect staff and customers.
This is the idea behind the 2016 IELA FORUM: a multi-industrial meeting platform to brainstorm and enhance the health, safety andsecurity global standards in the Exhibition Industry.
IELA is proud to welcome key industry players to our Congress in Dublin, to discuss what we need to do differently: Giving organisers, venues and customers the service that has become vital and essential.
Don’t miss this chance to get valuable input that may change your business!
Impulses and insight will be given by: IAEE - Cathy Breden / UFI - Sonia Thomas / IFES - Bruno Meissner / X-Venture - Simon Garret /IELA - Robert Moore. t

IELA GALA DINNER & AWARDS NIGHT
Some venues are special; One is extraordinary: Introducing the Royal Hospital Kilmainham
The Royal Hospital Kilmainham is an iconic landmark. It was built in 1680 and until today, is a
beautiful treasure. This is the oldest classical building in Ireland and was based on Les Invalides
in Paris. Impressive, isn’t it?
When it was built, the hospital housed just 20 people although it was designed for 400 (at times
through history it housed up to 2,500).
The beautiful gardens were originally used for medicinal purposes but over time they became
the private gardens of the Master of the RHK who was in charge of the British Army in Ireland at
that time.
In 1991, the RHK became home to the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) which explains all
of those stunning sculptures you’ll see around the hospital’s 48 acres.
The RHK has hosted many EU Presidency events for the Government in 2004 and 2013, Failte
Ireland’s Meitheal (huge tourism trade event) in 2008 and 2015 and the National Commemoration
Day every year. If the RHK looks familiar, that’s because it has been used for many movies and
TV shows, including most recently The Tudors.
This event venue will invariably, inevitably, completely astonishe everyone!
As an event location, the 17th Century Royal Hospital Kilmainham stands alone.
Join the IELA GALA DINNER 2016 and get enchanted by the magic of the RHK! t

IELA CONGRESS 2016 DAY OUT
Have you ever heard of "Location Based Gaming"?
One of the latest trends and innovations within the field of geocaching combined with team-building
is going to be IELA's 2016 Day Out.
The streets of Dublin will be our playground for exploring the city, learning about it and competing
against other teams.
IELA iTreasures 2016 will be a fun way to see and experience Dublin in an interactive way. Led by
smartphones or Tablets you and your team will visit famous sites and pubs in Dublin, meet character
actors and play music with traditional Irish musicians. The scavenger hunt will send you all over the city
from important historical sites to cool, new places you never knew existed.
Each smartphone will be pre-programmed with settings to allow the teams find their way around
the city where they will need to seek out secret locations using GPS and 3G/4G technology. Follow the
maps and compete with the other teams in Tweet and Photo Challenges as well as in bonus quizzes.
There are several ways of earning points to win the challenge together with your team, but an easy
way is to solve the clues given out. Marked on a map you will easily be able to find all places to solve
the clues and answer the fun questions about Dublin. Delve into historical happenings, identify famous
people from the area and gain amazing new facts – this really is interactive learning and fun at its best!
Be prepared for a lot of potential twists within the IELA iTreasures 2016 so you and your fellow
teammates will need to develop a really good strategy to be able to outsmart your opponents.
To master this state-of-the-art treasure hunt you need inspiration and creativity as well as the ability
to think "out of the box". Within a time-frame of approximately three hours you will face all the
challenges you know from daily business - but in a much more fun and relaxed way.
IELA iTreasures will give you fun memories and an experience you might not forget - Come, join us
and give it a try! t

IELA ROAD RUNNERS 2016
Join the IELA runners!
This year’s run will take us around through the leafy suburbs of Dublin. We will pass by Ailesbury
Road where many embassies and diplomatic residences are located. Ailesbury Road is the second-
most expensive property on the Irish Monopoly board. We will continue on to Sandymount and run
along the waterfront before hanging a hard left and sprinting for Aviva stadium, home to Irish rugby.
Our tour guides will be Austin Browne and Phil Oakley.
These guys are serious marathoners and adventure racers. They recently competed in the prestigious
Art O' Neil challenge.
On January 6th, 1592 Art O’Neill, his brother Henry, and Red Hugh O'Donnell made a bid for freedom
from Dublin Castle. It was the middle of winter and Ireland was held fast in its icy clutches but they
hoped to reach the relative safety of the remote Glenmalure Valley over 50km away. Ill equipped
and underfed they were the only prisoners ever to successfully escape captivity from Dublin Castle
but it was an ill-fated journey with Art O’Neill dying from exposure only miles from his goal.
Date of run - 26.06.2016
Time of run - Approximately 45min - 60min
(2 Groups as the last time in Amsterdam), after the 1-2-1- Networking has ended
Meeting place - Hotel Lobby DoubleTree By Hilton Burlington Road
Ending place – Aviva Stadium (bus back to DT Hilton)
Looking forward to it!

The Guinness Storehouse building dates back to 1904 and is built in the style ofthe Chicago School of Architecture. IELA Golf Tournament 2016
We are pleased to invite you to the 2016 IELA Golf Tournament taking place on Thursday, June 30th at
The K Club!
Renowned for its superb golf, The K Club is recognised as one of Europe’s greatest golfing destinations.
Offering golfers 36 of the most exciting and dramatic holes, The Palmer Ryder Cup Course and The
Smurfit Course promise to challenge and excite golfers with treacherous rough, water hazards in
abundance, long greens and undulating fairways. Both courses are considered two of Europe's finest
Championship Courses and recently voted on the top ten worldwide golf resorts by CNN.
The Palmer Ryder Cup Course is quite simply, one of Europe's most spectacular courses. The philosophy
in developing the Smurfit course was to ensure that a comparison with the existing Palmer Ryder Cup
Course would be difficult and that the golfers experience would be completely different. In essence the
course is entirely different from The Palmer Ryder Cup Course located just across the River Liffey. From
feedback to date golfers state that it is almost impossible to make a comparison such is the difference
in experience.
Enjoy the tournament, the great scenery, the golf and of course the relaxed, informal networking.
Arrangements for transport will be made from The Hilton DoubleTree to the K-Club at approx. 07:00 am.
The tee will be reserved from 08:00 so there will be plenty of time to check-in, and collect the clubs,
which are available for hire. After a round of golf, enjoy lunch at the Club Café: Sitting on the cozy
terrace, having a lovely view, getting ready for the Cup Handover. The event is again kindly sponsored
by E.S.I. Group, France.
Who will be the successor of the 2015 back-to-back champion, Mr. Frederic de Weck from E.S.I. Group?
It is scheduled that transportation will depart from the Club at 16:00 to return to the hotel. Cabs will be
available for those who wish to return earlier. Also a good alternative for those who wish to go straight
ahead to the airport from the Golf Course, travel time is about 40 minutes.
Please let us know if you are interested in joining the IELA Golf Tournament and send us a short email
including your mobile number and your needs (Full or Half Set of Clubs, left- or right-handed) and your
handicap as well to [email protected]. t

The Tel Aviv Convention Center: the most significant business and culturalcomplex in the Middle East
The Tel Aviv Convention Center, the business and cultural venue of choicein Israel, is the largest and most advanced venue in Israel for conventions, exhibitions, fairs, stage performances and events on a global scale. The venuehosts hundreds of events and exhibitions, which attract over 2.5 million visitorsannually. Along with the excellent facilities that exist in the country, the TelAviv Convention Center places Israel in the forefront of the world'sinternational congress-organizing destinations. The Tel Aviv Convention Centeris a member of UFI and ICCA organisations.
The Tel Aviv Convention Center offers approximately 20,000 square metersof indoor exhibition space, divided into 8 pavilions of varying size, complemented by 25,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition space on lushgreen lawns that can accommodate any type of event. The combination ofmodern buildings, on the one hand, and the open exhibition areas on theother, provides the Tel Aviv Convention Center with a special and singularplace in the exhibitions and events industry, and imbues the venue with aunique and pastoral atmosphere.
Acknowledging the importance of the exhibition and convention industryto Israel – and to their own well-being – the Center hosts hundreds of eventsand exhibitions of various types. For instance, WATEC Israel, the WaterTechnology and Environment Control Exhibition & Conference broughtthousands of water professionals from around the world to Israel, in order todiscuss issues related to water treatment; this included 100 delegations fromover 90 countries. The conference was attended by prominent speakersincluding Arizona’s Governor Doug Ducey, Florida's Commissioner ofAgriculture Adam Putnam, an impressive delegation from Kenya including theVice President and Minister of Water, as well as Israeli President Shimon Peres, who was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by Economy Minister AryehDeri. Another notable example is the Cybertech conference and exhibition, the largest conference on cyber technologies outside the US. Cybertechbrought together leading multinational corporations, SMB's, Start-Ups, privateand corporate investors as well as venture capital firms, experts and clients.Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opened the conference alongsideleading cyber experts. An additional exhibition worth mentioning is theTechnology Exhibition for technological developments in the industry, whichattracted 300 exhibitors and over 20,000 visitors. In addition to the localtechnological scene, the exhibition offered a unique platform for foreigncompanies to introduce and launch innovation in Israel’s professional arena.
Despite its small size, Israel is home to countless tourist attractions andhistorical landmarks. It is also at the forefront of technology and innovation invarious industries and disciplines such as high-tech, cyber, agriculture and water
technology. This combination turns Israel into an attractive tourist destination aswell as the perfect location for conferences and exhibitions. In 2015 the Tel AvivConvention Center launched Pavilion 2, the largest, most advanced, and cutting-edge pavilion in the Middle East, putting Israel on the map alongside the leadingconvention and fair trade centers in the world. Approximately NIS 380 million(100 million dollars) was invested in the construction and the result is a smartand versatile space that, almost literally, ‘allows every dream to come true’.
The launch of Pavilion 2 presents a world of possibilities in the field ofevents, both from the aspect of operational functions and in terms ofversatility. For example, large-scale events, seating for performances whichenable high-quality vantage points from anywhere in the Pavilion. In addition, the Pavilion conducts interactive exhibitions for professional audiences as wellas exhibitions requiring advanced logistics and technology; hugeperformances, circuses and exceptional parties, alongside exclusive boutiqueevents that require particularly sophisticated technical specifications. In orderto succeed in achieving the utmost from any event, and allow the productionand organization team to fulfill any fantasy that comes to mind, unique slidingdoors 6 meters high and 5.3 meters wide were built, allowing exhibits of non-standard size to pass through freely. They also permit separation of the spaceto accommodate various events simultaneously. Furthermore, the ceiling andfloor loads in the Pavilion can reach up to 600 kg., allowing exceptionalflexibility. During 2015, Pavilion 2 hosted a diversity of exhibitions, events, fairs and live concerts.
Pavilion 2 is part of a development plan for the Tel Aviv Convention Center, such as establishment of restaurants, cafes and a hotel. These plans will makethe Tel Aviv Convention Center the most impressive leisure and entertainmentcomplex in Israel, providing an unforgettable experience for the millions ofvisitors each year.
Mirit Bachar, CEO of Tel Aviv Convention Center: "The opening of Pavilion 2constitutes a revolution in the field of events and trade fairs in Israel. This isa significant milestone for us – from a local trade fairs center to aninternational global trade fairs center. With professionals from the entireindustry – including all the worlds of content in the field of events andexhibitions – we invested a vast amount of time and planning so that we canprovide the widest platform for our clients and visitors; one that will focus theproper attention on both the large and the small details equally. I have nodoubt that today, thanks to the experience, professionalism, humanity andingenuity, the Tel Aviv Convention Center is the most significant business andcultural complex in the Middle East that promotes its city, Tel Aviv, to one ofthe most avant-garde and innovative tourist locations in the world". t

Dear Friends
I usually use the IELA Report pre-
Congress edition to give a preview of
the Survey. However, this year we
decided to keep the Survey system
open longer than in the past years.
We want to make sure members
have enough time to fill out the
questionnaire. The results of the
2015 Survey will be presented in
Dublin.
If you are not anxious to know the
results, I AM!
The Standards & Customs Working
Group is not only occupied with the
Survey. Our task force dedicated to
increase our Venue and Customs
database did a fantastic job. Take a
look at the IELA website, the volume
of precious information is very good.
We also revised the IELA Standards
for Export and Domestic Agent. Several
hands from different countries wrote
these two documents contributing
with valuable inputs resulting on an
easy understandable and updated
version of our guidelines.
Our main goal in revising the
guidelines is to enable newbies to
understand and familiarise themselves
with terms and procedures of our
business and to help members to
keep working according to the
standards established by our
Association and what is expected
from us.
Inspired by the good result we
reached on the review of IELA
Standards, our group also created
IELA OH&S that pretty soon will be
available for all members.
Standards and Customs Working
Group is an untiring team and new
projects, tasks and actions will be
defined during the Congress. And if
you have any suggestion or idea that
can be developed by our WG, share
with us.
Looking forward to meeting you inDublin!

Dear Friends
As promised in the last IELA
REPORT, after we had given more
time to let people answer our
Training Working Group Survey, it is
about time to analyse the
answers we got.
We had asked just a few very
simple and open questions.
First of all, I wish to express
my heartfelt thank you, to the
probably awfully busy, as we
all are, 46 members out of 147 that
took a few minutes of their precious
time to answer the survey, which
makes it only 31,3% of the
membership!
That is not enough!!! Training our
staff is building the future of our
companies and of our Industry and I
feel it is vital to ask ourselves
questions about how we deal with
training. See the pie chart below, it is
self-explanatory on the answers rate:
Yet some people brought in somevery interesting and exploitable infor-mation on how they operate inter-nally and what their expectations are.
Question 1: Do you have a formaltraining programme in yourcompany?
Basically, we can see that out of the
people that answered, 17 companies
have an in-house training programme
related to exhibitions handling, which
means: approximately, only 10% of
the overall membership has a formaltraining programme, which is very low.
That means two things:
1) The “learning by doing” old
school method is still in use and
will obviously always be in use,
because it has proved to be
efficient over the years, most of
us learned this way!
However, in our highly
technological world speed,
reactivity, multimedia and social
networks mean that our staff has
less time to learn on the job and
must be efficient immediately.
We just have no time, we work
with less staff than in the past, the
clients, organisers and venues want
us to deliver a quicker and cheaper
service with buildup and breakdown
periods that tend to diminish year
after year… to the bone.
With the new generation of staff,
taking time to learn, making
mistakes, can be some what difficult
to cope with and some youngsters
may give up after a while
if they face difficulties and
might feel lost sometimes
if they don’t have a
formal method or guide to
follow.
2) The IELA training tools
are, for some of our
members, the only “formal” training
action available. It therefore should
and will be enhanced and reinforced.
IELA provides two very efficient and
important training tools: the Winter
Seminar and the Operations Summit,
which are already something very
valuable for the members. Other
projects are on their way, you will get
to know more in Dublin.
Question 2: If Yes, can you give us afew information on its process andhighlights?
Only 20 members answered.
Maybe they want to keep their
valuable trade secrets ☺
“THE LAST 11 METERS”
One very interesting answer came
from my old friend Peter Busscher from
Ceva Showfreight NL: “(we) have
approx. 1001 training programmes. All
about how to get goods from A to B,
but no one explains how to deliver
goods the last 11 metres”.
That sums up a lot! Indeed, freight
forwarders educate in freight

forwarding, that is a fact, and most
of the big players have training
programmes and manuals for the
newcomers. That is understandable
as it is all about processes at a
certain stage. Are we, exhibition
people, always stuck into processes?
I bet we should not be, as our job
covers such a variety of topics that
applying rigid processes could
somewhat be dodgy. The last 11
metres, that is what is so hard to
teach and formalise in a manual.
Job shadowing in Canada,
National apprenticeship in
Germany, personal development
and core training in Australia, yearly
training for managers in the USA, 20
hours of mandatory training per
annum in India, trouble shooting
courses in Singapore, handling
forklifts in Malaysia, workshops in
China... these are only a hint of the
variety of answers we obtained, I
was nicely surprised though. This is
a lot of food for thought for the
working group!
Question 3: What areas would beinteresting for your staff-training, so wecan put extra emphasis on one subjector another at the Winter Seminar?
It seems that on-site customerservice training / disposals is what is
requested the most, which means we
are absolutely right when we want to
bring this to surface even more strongly
at the next WS. More details will be
given later on about what we envision
to add, but this will be lively, interactive
and very down to earth training.
Sales and marketing will also be
treated as it deserves by a new, famous
and experienced lecturer in Zurich.
Other topics are already pretty
much covered by the multiplicity of
the presentations we ought to offer
the lucky students that will attend a
very exciting Winter Seminar 2017.
Question 4: What do you expect fromtraining in general?
We received a lot of interesting
answers. This question seemed silly
in the first place! Of course we
expect our staff to be trained! Were
we serious in asking this question?
Yes we were indeed, asking the
question allowed to go further into
detail about what is Training and got
members to think about it, here are
some of the key words we obtained:
Learning, improving, to be in line
with global company standards,
understanding documentation, growth,
knowledge, empowerment,
coordination, standards and processes,
sharing information, education,
evaluation, knowing each other face
to face, having a wider experience
and a global outlook, increasing
communication, understanding how
other countries work, ensure a better
qualified staff.
This survey has given the TWG a
lot of valuable information to work
on in Dublin, in Zürich and in our day
to day approach of training.
Many thanks for your attention,
input and reactions.
See you guys in Dublin!

Dear Members,
With Dublin only a few weeks away,
we look forward to seeing you there.
Let’s hope the sun shines down on the
beautiful city of Dublin during the
Congress. If you have the time do try
to visit Trinity College, the old library
houses the Book of Kells and some
very unique giant Maple trees.
You are more than welcome to
attend our group session with any
ideas you may have in relation to PR
& Marketing.
Discussions
During Dublin we will present and
discuss the following topics:
IELA (Logo) with Hyperlink
It was not possible to create the
IELA Logo template with an inclusion
of a hyperlink to the IELA website.
However for those who would like to
include this such, just simply create a
hyperlink as indicated below:
The purpose of this was to add the
IELA Logo and hyperlink as part of your
signature on your emails. If, where
possible, all IELA members included
this on emails to all clients the
exposure could be huge. Of course,
IELA appreciates that for a variety of
reasons many of you may not be
able to do this, but for those who
can, please give it a try.
IELA Slogan
We have many suggestions on this
subject that coincide with the poster
design and the advertising
campaign. All suggestions will be
presented during the conference for
consideration, discussion and
possible further action.
Social Media
The marketing group is researching
more ways for IELA to capitalise on its
Social Media exposure. IELA needs to
be more connected with its members
and target market through existing
platforms. The creation of business
pages, instead of the now established
personal pages, will add
professionalism and are easier to
search. With the addition of different
social media platforms,the IELA
message will reach a broader
audience and the marketing group
recommends adding Instagram to
IELA’s suite of Social Media.
IELA App
The marketing group is working on
making the IELA App a tool for all our
members. We want it to be a resource
centre before, during, and after the
IELA Congress. Members should be able
to interact with one another through
the app, keep up with the industries
and IELA’s current events, and also
schedule their meetings for the
congress. The group also wants the
IELA App to be aesthetically appealing
and convey IELA’s branding and
messaging promptly. The app should
also be interactive with all of IELA’s
marketing platforms.
IELA TV
The idea has been suggested to
make a short presentation via a video
to demonstrate what we do, how we
do it, IELA and the benefits of working
with a member. A presentation will
be made during the Dublin seminar.
IELA Story
The App has already been
mentioned and the group is very
excited about the concept of IELA TV.
Many ideas have been put forward
and a presentation will be ready for
Dublin. The IELA story will form part of
the advertising campaign. The concept
is to tell the IELA story over a period
of time via editorials in selected
magazines. We wish to give the
reader a true insight to IELA, its
history, its ethics, its members, how
we operate, training, aims etc. The
development of this story can involve
any member and it is important we get
this right to promote IELA throughout
the exhibition & event industry.
New ideas
Open session for new ideas.
With kind regards,
Feicfidh mé go luath thú,
Jim Callaghan t

Dear friends,
I'm looking forward meeting you
in Dublin!
In this Working Group report pre-
Congress, I would like to share with
you that members applications keep
increasing, quality not quantity is in
the fore front. We are today 152
members and 32 affiliates from 49
countries. Truly a global association!
And here’s the more interesting
statistic. As of going to print, we
have approximately 81% of ourmembers and 89% of countries
present at Dublin. This year
members come-together will be the
biggest and strongest of 30 years of
IELA's history! This is phenomenal,
and I give maximum credit to the
members commitments.
Our WG now needs to venture to
newer heights. We need to establisha review mechanism for existing
members and this is going to be oneof our main topic of discussion during
the Working Group brainstormingsession on DAY 2 of our Congress: Arestandards being followed? Is liability
insurance being adhered to? Is IELAbeing promoted within ourcompanies?
So put on your thinking caps
(turbans), and let's have a productive/
fun time in a few weeks from now!
God BlessRavinder Sethi t
Dear members,
You will all be aware that over the
last few years IELA has reached out
and signed up new members from
so called “White Spot Areas”.
Since Singapore we have signed up
5 new members, whose names are
listed below.
1. UPEX LS LTD, Estonia
2. BCC Logistics, Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia
3. TEHRAN RAKHSH CO. LTD,
Islamic Republic of Iran
4. WAIVER LOGISTICS PERU S.A.C,
Peru
5. PAN-LIT Service, Lithuania
Personally, I feel that has been a
great success and is down to the
efforts of everyone concerned, not at
least our Secretariat.
Moving on from here I believe we
must continue to reach out and sign
up new members from other white
spot areas to increase IELA’s
coverage and “colour in” those
”White Spots”. We must not, of
course, drop our standards and not
compromise quantity over quality.
Over the last 12 months I have
contacted those potential members,
who attended last year’s partnering
event, that may be of interest to
IELA, not only to encourage them to
join but also to try and ascertain the
reasons why they don’t or can’t join.
One of the reasons seems to be that
certain countries do not have
enough events for any particular
company to justify the outlay.
So this leads me to the real
reason for my report, how do wemove on from here and reach outfurther. This is where I’d like tostart a conversation on the nextmove forward during the upcoming
Working Group Session in Dublinand I would in particular ask thegroup for their thoughts, ideas orsuggestions.
Thank you and see you all in Dublin,
Jeff Broom t

Dear friends,
As you know, on the 8th of June we
celebrate the first Global Exhibitions
Day driven by UFI and IAEE, which is
a very important event for all of us
as players in this beautiful game.
I hope many of us will participate
at the different regional events in
order to promote our role in the
Industry.
It would be great to share with our
Group the individual experiences and
feelings in Dublin during the IELA
Congress in late June.
Talking about IELA Congress and
the Organisers Working Group
meeting, I invite all of us to look back
at the individual goals we want to
achieve related to the Organisers
targets i.e. health&safety and
sustainability among them.
Hope to meet you all soon in
Dublin with fresh ideas and good
news!
Cheers.Guido Fornelli t
