5.3.2 Installing the BTS3812E Cabinet on the Spandrel Girder
This topic describes how to install the cabinet on the concrete floor with insufficient load capacity
of smaller than 5,500 N/m2. In this situation, you need to fix the supporting U-steels to the ground
as spandrel girders and then install the cabinet on the steels.
Context
CAUTION
To install the equipment in a building, ask architectural and structural engineers to check the
load capacity of the building from the following respects:
l Equipment weight
l Equipment floor space
l Position for installing the equipment
l Structure of the building
If the load capacity is insufficient, reinforce the building.

Supporting U-steels are necessary when the load capacity of the concrete floor in the equipment
room is insufficient for carrying the cabinet. The supporting U-steel should be made of
GB707-88/14b-3000 hot-rolled U-steel and have the total length of 3,000 mm.
ProcedureStep 1 Prepare supporting U-steels.
1. Drill holes in the U-steels, as shown in Figure 5-27.
Figure 5-27 Drilling holes on the U-steels (unit: mm)
(1) Hole for fixing the base (2) Hole for fixing the U-steel to the floor
NOTE
The distance between two holes for fixing the base on the same U-steel must be 460 mm. The holes
for installing the cabinet in two U-steels must be symmetric.
2. Apply antirust paint and finishing coat to the U-steels.
Step 2 Determine the position for installing the cabinet.
1. Determine the position for installing the cabinet according to the engineering design and
referring to 2.3 Space Requirements for Installing the BTS3812E.
2. Determine the position for installing the U-steels in compliance with the position forinstalling the cabinet.
3. Mark two parallel lines 441 mm apart from each other on the ground.
4. Mark the anchor points on the lines, as shown in Figure 5-28.

before drilling holes.
NOTE
The depth of the holes must range from 52 mm to 60 mm. All the holes must be in the same depth.
7. After drilling holes, measure the distance between the holes. If there is a big error between
them, relocate and drill new holes.
Step 3 Secure the U-steels.
1. Clean the dust both inside and around the holes by using a cleaner.
2. Measure the distance between holes. Ensure that the holes in the floor and those in the
support can match each other. If there is a big error between the holes, relocate and drill
new holes before inserting the bolts.
3. Insert the expansion bolt assembly into the holes and hammer them until the expansiontubes are buried into the holes, as shown in Figure 5-29.
