General Machinery Safety Instructions

1. Read the entire Manual before startingmachinery. Machinery may cause serious injury ifnot correctly used.

2. Always use correct hearing protection whenoperating machinery. Machinery noise may causepermanent hearing damage.

3. Machinery must never be used when tired, orunder the influence of drugs or alcohol. Whenrunning machinery you must be alert at all times.

4. Wear correct Clothing. At all times remove all looseclothing, necklaces, rings, jewelry, etc. Long hairmust be contained in a hair net. Non-slip protectivefootwear must be worn.

5. Always wear correct respirators around fumesor dust when operating machinery. Machineryfumes & dust can cause serious respiratory illness.Dust extractors must be used where applicable.

6. Always wear correct safety glasses. Whenmachining you must use the correct eye protectionto prevent injuring your eyes.

7. Keep work clean and make sure you have goodlighting. Cluttered and dark shadows may causeaccidents.

8. Personnel must be properly trained or wellsupervised when operating machinery. Makesure you have clear and safe understanding of themachine you are operating.

9. Keep children and visitors away. Make surechildren and visitors are at a safe distance for youwork area.

10. Keep your workshop childproof. Use padlocks,Turn off master power switches and remove startswitch keys.

11. Never leave machine unattended. Turn power offand wait till machine has come to a complete stopbefore leaving the machine unattended.

12. Make a safe working environment. Do not usemachine in a damp, wet area, or where flammableor noxious fumes may exist.

13. Disconnect main power before servicemachine. Make sure power switch is in the offposition before re-connecting.

14. Use correct amperage extension cords.Undersized extension cords overheat and losepower. Replace extension cords if they becomedamaged.

15. Keep machine well maintained. Keep bladessharp and clean for best and safest performance.Follow instructions when lubricating and changingaccessories.

16. Keep machine well guarded. Make sure guardson machine are in place and are all workingcorrectly.

17. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing andbalance at all times.

18. Secure workpiece. Use clamps or a vice tohold the workpiece where practical. Keeping theworkpiece secure will free up your hand to operatethe machine and will protect hand from injury.

19. Check machine over before operating. Checkmachine for damaged parts, loose bolts, Keys andwrenches left on machine and any other conditionsthat may effect the machines operation. Repair andreplace damaged parts.

20. Use recommended accessories. Refer toinstruction manual or ask correct service officerwhen using accessories. The use of improperaccessories may cause the risk of injury.

21. Do not force machinery. Work at the speed andcapacity at which the machine or accessory wasdesigned.

22. Use correct lifting practice. Always use thecorrect lifting methods when using machinery.Incorrect lifting methods can cause serious injury.

23. Lock mobile bases. Make sure any mobile basesare locked before using machine.

24. Allergic reactions. Certain metal shavings andcutting fluids may cause an ellergic reaction inpeople and animals, especially when cutting as thefumes can be inhaled. Make sure you know whattype of metal and cutting fluid you will be exposedto and how to avoid contamination.

25. Call for help. If at any time you experiencedifficulties, stop the machine and call you nearestbranch service department for help.

Metal Cutting Coldsaw Safety Instructions

1. Maintenance. Make sure the saw is turned off anddisconnect from the main power supply and makesure all moving parts have come to a complete stopbefore any inspection, adjustment or maintenance iscarried out.

2. Saw Condition. Saw must be maintained for aproper working condition. Never operate a saw thathas damaged or worn parts. Scheduled routinemaintenance should performed on a scheduledbasis.

3. Blade Condition. Never operate a saw with a dull,cracked or badly worn blade. Before using a sawinspect blades for missing teeth and cracks.

4. Replacing Blade. Make sure teeth are facing thecorrect direction. Wear gloves to protect hands.

5. Hand Hazard. Keep hands and fingers clear fromthe line of cut of the blade and offcuts workpieces.Hands can be crushed in vice or from falling machinecomponents and cut by the blade.

6. Leaving a saw Unattended. Always turn the sawoff and make sure all moving parts have come to acomplete stop before leaving the saw. Do not leavesaw running unattended for any reason.

7. Avoiding Entanglement. Blade guard must beused at all times. Remove loose clothing, belts, orjewelry items. Never wear gloves while machine is inoperation. Tie up long hair and use the correct hairnets to avoid any entanglement with the saw movingparts.

8. Understand the machines controls. Make sure youunderstand the use and operation of all controls.

9. Power outage. In the event of a power failure duringuse of the saw, turn off all switches to avoid possiblesudden start up once power is restored.

10. Work area hazards. Keep the area around the sawclean from oil, tools, chips. Pay attention to otherpersons in the area and know what is going onaround the area to ensure unintended accidents.

11. Workpiece Handling. Workpieces must besupported with table, vice, roller conveyor/stands,or other support fixtures. Unsupported workpiecesmay cause the machine to tip over and fall. Flaglong pieces of material to avoid tripping hazards.Never hold a workpiece with your hands during thecut process.

12. Hearing protection and hazards. Always wearhearing protection as noise generated from sawblade and workpiece vibration, material handling,and power transmission can cause permanenthearing loss over time.

13. Hot surfaces. Workpieces, machine surfaces andchips become hot due to friction and can burn you.

14. Starting position. Never turn the saw on when theblade is resting on the workpiece.

15. Guards. Do not operate saw without the bladeguard in place.

16. Call for help. If at any time you experiencedifficulties, stop the machine and call you nearestbranch service department for help.
