Thank you for your purchase of Protocol’s Black Hawk™ RC Helicopter. You are about to experience the best of what remote control flight has to offer. We strongly recommend that you take the time to read this manual thoroughly. It contains many tips and instructions on how to get the most out of this aircraft, and maintain it for long life. As with any aircraft, this is a precision flying machine. Treat it well and enjoy all the fun it has to offer, flight after flight. AGES + 14 The helicopter is equipped with a high-performance Lithium-Poly battery. 1. Always turn the helicopter power switch off when charging the battery. 2. Connect the charge plug of the battery charger to the charge slot on the helicopter. (see diagram) 3. Plug charger into power outlet. 4. While charging, the LED charging light is off. 5. When the charge is complete, LED light turns green. 6. The battery requires 120 minutes of charging for approximately 7-9 minutes of flight. 7. The helicopter is equipped with a high-performance Li-poly battery. IMPORTANT! Do not use or leave the battery near a heat source such as a fire, heater, or stove. Doing so can damage the battery. Do not immerse the battery in water. Keep it in a cool dry environment. Do not use a battery charger other than the one provided. Do not disassemble the battery. Make sure that the battery charger power adapter fits your electrical outlet. Never leave the battery unattended when charging. If helicopter is not used for long periods (approximately 6-9 months) maintain at least a half charge in the battery (about 30 minutes of charging). 1. Once the helicopter is charged, disconnect the AC charging cord from the charge slot of the helicopter. 2. Turn on the helicopter. 3. Place the helicopter onto the ground and stand at least 9 feet behind it. 4. Pull the remote control antenna to its full extension. 5. Make sure the throttle on the remote control is at its lowest position. 6. Turn on the remote control. Control your helicopter as described in the following section. Note: If the remote control indicator light is flashing, you need to change the batteries. If the helicopter turns left during flight, turn the trimmer to the right until the tproblem resolves. If the helicopter turns right during flight, turn the trimmer to the left until the problem resolves. **Flying helicopter beyond the range (> 45 feet) of its remote control results in instability and uncontrolled flight. Cannot control the helicopter: 1. Make sure the remote control's power switch is on. 2. Make sure the remote control's antenna is fully extended. 3. Do not fly the helicopter in wind, which can interfere with control. The helicopter will not ascend: 1. Make sure you are pulling up on the throttle stick. 2. Make sure the helicopter battery is fully charged (see instructions above). The helicopter lands too fast/crashes: 1. Slowly pull down the throttle till the helicopter lands smoothly. 2. Make sure the helicopter battery is fully charged (see instructions above). Cautions: 1. When helicopter battery is not fully charged, control distance is shortened. 2. When helicopter battery is not fully charged, helicopter can be difficult to fly and may not achieve full flying height. 3. Do not fly the helicopter if the rotor becomes damaged or broken. Doing so may lead to injury. 4. When the remote control is not used for long periods, remove its battery to avoid battery leakage and subsequent damage to the remote control. 5. Do not crash land the helicopter. Doing so can seriously damage the helicopter and shorten its usable life. 6. Do not charge the battery for longer than 120 minutes (2 hours). 7. Do not use the battery in locations where it cannot be recharged following use.
