Instructional Plan – Phase IV

As we move forward on our design method for Phoenix Career Services, we will be able to assist employees on the knowledge needed to improvise and assist students through their career searches. University of Phoenix has contracted Phoenix Career Services with Jobing.com, Monster, Ranstadt, Indeed.com and Career Builder. This ensures our capability of offering services for students whom are seeking their career field based upon their degree and program. Our site will remain up to date with career postings due to our contract with each desired listing for 18 months. We have also linked up with the Department of Defense, which allow our veteran and active duty military students to utilize their current military experience for civilian careers.

Our plan to communicate our new services with our employees is to provide an effective

training plan that will prepare our employees for knowledge and experience to help assist students on preparing for their dream job and chosen career. Our training will be held over a whole quarter starting at the beginning of the fiscal year, 09/01/2014. We will be hosting our training sessions in a live face to face environment for the first two training sessions. This will allow employees to understand why and what we are offering for students and provide clarity on each outside third party that we are contracted with. The first two face to face training sessions will provide the effectiveness for employees and build rapport and commitment with our staff. Our participants are focused on all participants that interact with students on a daily basis.

Instructional Plan – Phase IV The focus is on our enrollment,

academics and finance divisions and advisors. All parties will remain consistent with the training plans. After the first two live training sessions, we will then be implementing WebEx training sessions. This will keep the interaction live; however, employees will be able to utilize the necessary tools in a technological manner. The assessments that we have created are a Q&A example of what students may inquire on, and employees will have a technology based “classroom,” in which they can visually see what student’s see and will be tested on where to find certain items and answers for students. Employees will also be provided a hard copy of information to use for reference material as well.

Instructional Plan – Phase IV Employees will be able to

calculate and count the hours of training and provide them as professional hours logged through their HR portal. After each successful training session, employees will be given 250 EPIC points in which they will receive for their time during training. This will allow the employees to see the importance of their services and the how the University of Phoenix values their time and acceptance of the new professional skill.

Instructional Plan – Phase IV

Preparing for Success Feedback from Student’s (retained, tenured and non continuing)

• The school appears to suffer a high turnover rate among its advisors. Some courses have gone smoothly, some haven't. For the ones that haven't, there doesn't seem to be any process in place to improve the situation. Just pretty much "ride it out", and move on to the next course. (Anonymous, Degree: Psychology, General)

• The program is great, I feel as though I have learned a great deal of information in the past three years. I received my Associates in Accounting and am working toward my Bachelors in Business Management. ( Anonymous, 2014)

• University of Phoenix has been an excellent experience for me. I was incapable to attend a traditional school, because I was working, and I am also a single mother. They made it possible for me to get an education while still maintaining all these things. I enjoyed the online environment. I learned a great deal, and feel I expanded my mind and my knowledge. (PhoenixStudent77, 2014)

• I have had issues with just about everyone I have had contact with. One class I took was ethics they teach about doing the right thing, but the school itself does just the opposite. I would highly recommend doing a ton of research before committing to this school.(Carol, 2014)

• Few academic advisors actually work for you. (Anonymous, 2014)• I did very well in the classes, and I was able to secure a job with the county Juvenile Probation Department

within 3 months of graduating! (S. Seifried, 2014)

Facts about University of Phoenix

News to pass around • Fact: Thousands of University of Phoenix graduates are credentialed

teachers.• Fact: Our programs are held to the same rigorous accreditation standards as

public four-year colleges and universities.• Fact: We are dedicated to ensuring that students understand what it takes to

succeed at University of Phoenix, before they enroll.• Fact: We are committed to ensuring that prospective students receive

factual, useful information about the University.

The Need… The need for this course it prepare students for the “real world,” but to provide internal and

external resources for support on their path towards graduation. Adult Learners tend to lose motivation, which is why with University of Phoenix linking up with outside resources as well as companies and organization, we can assist students on seeing their potential, prior to even starting class. Allowing students to view the support that the University of Phoenix receives and gives, is what we need to increase our graduation rates, but most importantly, allow students to meet their professional and personal needs in life.

This training is necessary if the University of Phoenix wants to pave a path that no other University or school has attempted to walk. We have made our name for the “online” world, but now it is time to change. It is time to create more skills for internal employees and prep students in a direction in which they will succeed academically.
