CALL FOR ABSTRACTS Friday 4th December 2015 0830 to 1630hrs Clinical Education Centre Level 5, Auckland City Hospital Park Road Auckland All NZ anaesthetic trainees are encouraged to submit abstracts for the 2015 NZ Annual Registrar Meeting. Work may include audit, research or survey data. All abstracts should conform to the “Instructions for Authors” (see below). A declaration of contribution and ethics committee approval is required for all projects. All trainees who submit an abstract will be invited to display a scientific poster. The best abstracts will be invited to give an oral presentation to be considered for the prizes. There are three prizes on offer to recognise excellence in research – the ANZCA prize and trophy for the best scientific presentation; the NZSA prize for the best quality assurance project; and the University of Auckland Caduceus Award to reward originality and contribution by the author.

All NZ anaesthetic trainees are encouraged to submit abstracts for the 2015 NZ Annual Registrar Meeting. Work may include audit, research or survey data.

All abstracts should conform to the “Instructions for Authors” (see below). A declaration of contribution and ethics committee approval is required for all projects. All trainees who submit an abstract will be invited to display a scientific poster. The best abstracts will be invited to give an oral presentation to be considered for the prizes. There are three prizes on offer to recognise excellence in research – the ANZCA prize and trophy for the best scientific presentation; the NZSA prize for the best quality assurance project; and the University of Auckland Caduceus Award to reward originality and contribution by the author.

The morning session is set aside for topics of interest to trainees. The scientific presentations will be held from 1300-1700hrs.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS: ABSTRACT

1. Abstracts are required for all presentations and posters.

2. The title should be brief and explicit.

3. The name of the author(s) and institution should be included.

4. The body of the abstract should be no more than 300 words in length and should be divided into –

Purpose of study Methods Results Conclusions

5. The font to be used is Arial, size 11 with single spacing.

6. The abstract must contain some results. It is not acceptable to state that the results will be presented at the meeting.

7. All abbreviations should be defined after the first use of the word. Avoid creating new abbreviations.

8. A full list of references should be included.

9. A statement that institutional ethics committee approval has been obtained must be included. Reference numbers should be provided where applicable.

FURTHER INFORMATION

A set of instructions about the scientific poster requirements including an example and a template will be forwarded upon acceptance of the abstract.

The abstracts will be reviewed and a number will be selected for an oral presentation in the afternoon scientific session. A set of instructions for presenters in the oral scientific session will be forwarded once the selection is completed.
