entitled „Scheme for promotion and

Preservation of Endangered Languages‟, with

Central Institute of Indian Languages, Ministry

of Human Resource Development, Mysore in

which documentation of eight (o8) endangered

languages of the Jammu and Kashmir State

with a grant of Rs. 40 Lac per annum has been

going on from the year 2014. Three Resource

Dictionary‟ with a grant of Rs 6.5 Lac and

„Linguistic Description and Documentation of

Kohistani Language‟ with a grant of Rs. 6

Lacs‟ have been completed in the department.

Two projects namely „Development of

Language Tools and Linguistic Resources for

Kashmiri‟ with a grant of Rs. 45 Lac and „

Development of Indradhanush: An Integrated

Wordnet for Bengali, Gujarati, Konkani, Oriya,

Punjabi, Urdu and Kashmiri‟ with a grant of Rs.

35 Lac sanctioned by Department of

Electronics and Information Technology,

Ministry of Communication and IT, Govt. of

India have been completed while as the project

„Development of Shallow Parser Tools for

Twelve Indian Languages‟ , sanctioned by

Department of Electronics and Information

Technology, Ministry of Communication and

IT, Govt. of India with a grant of Rs. 36 Lac is

currently undergoing in the department.

The project ‟Translation of An Introduction to

Sociolinguistics ‘ into Urdu‟ sanctioned by

wherein, the SAP team visited different parts of

the Valley and tapped non-conventional sources

of varied nature especially Oral Testimonies. Presently, UGC is funding the second phase of

Sources of Kashmir”

characterization of Adenoscolex kasmirensis with Tomas Scholz,

Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

Centre has completed collaborative work with Prof. Omer Amin,

Leading Scientist in Acanthocephala, Institute of Parasitic Diseases,

Arizona, 85259, USA, SEM and Histopathology characterization of long

forgotten Pomphorynchus kashmirensis. Work has been documented and

has been published.




Department of Environmental Science in

collaboration with the Centre has been sanctioned

proposal recommended for support under funds for

improvement of S &T infrastructure (FIST) and has

been been granted 58 lakhs for the current year on

18th Nov 2015 in a meeting held at New Delhi


Centre was able to establish the Green House with

Net House (worth 25 Lakh) with funding from:

ICAR, New Delhi through CITH Srinagar

under Walnut Project.

DBT, New Delhi under Saffron project.

University of Kashmir. Centre was able to get Rs. 10 Lakh for the

purchase of Mobile Ecological Laboratory from

Ministry of Environment & Forests (J & K

Government). This laboratory is used to conduct

air analysis and water analysis at different places. Spawn Production Unit:

Spawn Production Unit has been established in the

Centre under Women Entrepreneurship

Development project entitled “Mushroom

Cultivation & its Marketing” sponsored by DBT,

New Delhi. The main aim of this unit is to

continuously raise spawn in a scientific manner

and supply to four beneficiaries selected under the

project and to other interested parties for

Mushroom cultivation and its marketing.
