FUEL-EFFICIENT DRIVING TECHNIQUES MOTIVATION | To achieve a longer mileage per liter with ICT Logistics’ own trucks as well as trucks run by subcontractors through fuel-efficient driving.

ACTION | Through an explicit environmental policy, monitoring of environmental data and the training of drivers, ICT Logistics ensures that drivers focus on fuel-efficient driving. In addition, ICT Logistics cooperates with its permanent suppliers (hauliers) on energy-efficient driving, which involves the sharing of environmental data (such as fuel consumption and mileage) for the activities related to ICT Logistics.

REDUCTION OF EMPTY RUNNING AND BETTER UTILISATION OF TRANSPORT CAPACITY MOTIVATION | To achieve better utilization of exsisting transport capacity by optimizing logistics and reducing the share of empty runs, where market developments make it possible.

ACTION | ICT Logistics continously seeks to minimize ”empty mileage” and reduce the energy consumption of every ton of goods that is carried. By engaging in close dialogue with our customers, ICT Logistics focuses on careful route planning, round trip coor-dination, and consolidation of shipments to optimize utilization of our transport capacity. In order to reduce fuel consumption, ICT Logistics also collaborates with customers on routes, where there may be an efficiency enhancement by introducing extra ”hubs” (cargo exchange) or return loads on the route.

ENSURE ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE, RELIABLE, SUSTAINABLE AND MODERN ENERGY FOR ALL

For ICT Logistics, this means that the company and all its employees continuously contribute to ensuring more energy efficient transport services. This entails optimization of logistics, measures to reduce fuel consumption and utilization of the most energy-efficient technologies.

Of the 5 UN targets for SDG 7, the following is the most relevant for ICT Logistics:

AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY

ENERGY CONSCIOUS TRANSPORT

By 2030, double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency 7.3

MODERN AND FUEL-EFFICIENT TRUCKS AND TRAILERSMOTIVATION | To reduce fuel consumption in ICT Logistics trucks by using the most energy-efficient available technologies, taking into account economically viable solutions.

ACTION | ICT Logistics will regularly monitor the market and assess the possibilities of implementing new innovative solutions in the trucks, which can reduce fuel consumption – for example, regenerative braking and more energy-efficient engines. Generally, when purchasing new equipment, ICT Logistics takes energy efficiency and environmental impact into account as a key selection criterion.

BUSINESS WITH IMPROVED ECO-EFFIENCY IN MINDMOTIVATION | To work proactively on improving the eco-efficiency of the activities carried out and thus ensure that economic growth does not have a negative environmental impact.

ACTION | In 2012, ICT Logistics set the managerial framework for the company’s environmental work. Through our environmental organization we have elaborated an environmental policy, annual action plans and a number of KPIs that measure the effect of our endeavours. We now use our environmental policy and improved eco-efficiency explicitly in sales work – this helps retain existing customers and attract new ones. ICT Logistics is thus in the fortunate position that environmental improvements translates into better economic results. This gives motivation for further improvements.

and reducing the number of km without cargo. For example, to achieve a higher efficiency in our cross-boarder services, ICT Logistics has as one of the first Danish freight forwarding companies been certified as Authorized Economic Operator (AEO). In order to maintain the productivity-enhancing AEO benefits, ICT Logistics has drawn up procedures to ensure that all employees comply with the requirements of the certification, that new employees are trained in the safety measures and that SKAT is notified if changes in the AEO’s safety conditions occur.

EFFICIENT UTILIZATION OF TRANSPORT CAPACITYMOTIVATION | To make better use of existing transport capacity and thereby reduce the number of empty runs, so that employees spend their time where they make a difference.

ACTION | Through the use of route planning solutions and close collaboration with our subcontractors, ICT Logistics constantly focuses on optimizing our transport capacity

Improve progressively, through 2030, global resource efficiency in consumption and production and endeavour to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation.8.4

PROMOTE SUSTAINED, INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH, FULL AND PRODUCTIVE EMPLOYMENT AND DECENT WORK FOR ALL

ICT Logistics will support sustainable economic growth, productivity and accountability in the transport sector by being a frontrunner in good work environment and intelligent use of existing transport capacity.

Of the 12 UN targets for SDG 8, the following are the most relevant for ICT Logistics:

DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

SUSTAINABLE PROFIT FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET

RESOURCE AND SUSTAINABILITY CONSCIOUS EMPLOYEESMOTIVATION | To increase the environmental consciousness of everyone in the company by training employees and including them in the development of sustainability policies and goal-setting.

ACTION | To ensure that ICT Logistics’ sustainability policy takes root in the company and that employees are conscious about our corporate responsibility, employees are involved in the development of company policies on a regular basis. Furthermore, to make sure that everyone in the organization acts in accordance with our sustainability policy and ISO certification, we carry out ongoing employee training. This is done through thorough a comprehensive introduction to new employees, quarterly newsletters and the annual sustainability report.

APV DECENT WORKING CONDITIONS IN THE TRANSPORT INDUSTRYMOTIVATION | To live up to our core values of decency and credibility by ensuring that we constantly improve ourselves in environment, working environment and business ethics.

ACTION | ICT Logistics has always focused on decent employment conditions and consistently followed local laws and conventions. Since many of our subcontractors of transport services employ labour outside the Nordic countries, we have adopted a Code of Conduct for hauliers developed by Danish Freight Forwarders (Danske Speditører). The document describes what we, in ICT Logistics, consider good business moral and ethics, including complying with rest periods and opportunities to rest at home. Our subcontractors all sign this Code of Conduct upon conclusion of a freight contract with ICT Logistics. In case of breaches, we reserve the right to terminate the business relationship with the haulier.

ENSURE SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION PATTERNS

ICT Logistics will boost the transport and logistics industry’s environmental efforts by being a front figure in green business development, making explicit demands on its suppliers and making its green profile visible. ICT Logistics has environmental policies and objectives with a management that takes the lead.

Of the 11 UN targets for SDG 12, the following are the most relevant for ICT Logistics:

RESPONSIBLECONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

RESPONSIBLE AND VISIBLE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

EXTENDING THE LIFETIME OF TRAILERS ON LEASEMOTIVATION | To reduce waste and save resources by extending the lifetime of trailers on long-term lease.

ACTION | Our fleet of tilt trailers on long-term lease comprises of 160 units. Previously we replaced these after three years – a view we have now changed. We now change our long-term lease trailers, based on development in technologies that can reduce CO2 emissions. We now consider 5 years as the maximum age before replacement.

MEASURABLE AND TRANSPARENT SUSTAINABILITY MANAGEMENTMOTIVATION | To ensure managerial accountability and a sustained corporate focus on reducing our environmental impact, use of resources and generation of waste.

ACTION | The management of ICT Logistics takes the lead and shows commitment based on the company’s environmental management system, management manual and environmental policy, which together ensure that ICT Logistics can accomplish its sustainability goals. The focus of our environmental work particularly consists in the involvement of our partners, employee training, modern equipment, openness to ideas that can improve eco-efficiency as well as measuring and reporting on our environmental impact.

ACTION | Through continuous improvements, ICT Logistics wants to reduce the environmental impact of our transport activities (emission of particles and air polluting substances such as NOX, SO2, HC and CO) and comply with all regulatory requirements. To achieve this, we regularly procure modern and environmentally efficient trucks and trailers, and we continously measure the progress that the company has made to ensure a better environment. As an example, ICT Logistics has chosen to measure the composition of the Euronorm for our own trucks and for the trucks used by other hauliers to drive the company’s customers’ goods.

By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources

Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle

By 2020, achieve the environmentally sound management of all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment

WORKING FOR A GREENER VALUE CHAINMOTIVATION | To continually meet the requirements and standards for environmental management and reporting.

ACTION | ICT Logistics complies with the guidelines and procedures laid down in the environmental management standard ISO 14001 and thus provides transport solutions that take into account the environment, quality and employee safety. A formal evaluation of the management system is made once a year and our environmental impact is documented in the annual environmental report.

WORKING FOR A GREENER VALUE CHAINMOTIVATION | To take (commercially justified) responsibility for a green development of the transport sector and thus position ourselves in the market.

ACTION | ICT Logistics wants to influence our entire value chain to focus on resource consumption, waste and pollution. Thus, with environmental work as an integral part of our business strategy, we use our environmental policy actively in meetings with customers and partners – it is an integral part of our sales work. Ultimately, contracts with suppliers and customers who have no interest in working for greener solutions are terminated.

Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle 12.6

TAKE URGENT ACTION TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS IMPACTS

At ICT Logistics this means that our transport services, procurement and waste management will help to limit emissions from the transport and logistics sector.

Of the 5 UN targets for SDG 13, the following are the most relevant for ICT Logistics:

CLIMATEACTION

CLIMATE ACTION

TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS OPTIMIZATIONMOTIVATION | To reduce CO2 emissions through reduced fuel consumption and better utilization of resources.

ACTION | ICT Logistics contributes to reducing emissions in the transport sector by optimizing logistics to drive fewer empty kilometers and by ensuring that drivers have the right knowledge about eco-efficient driving.

IMPLEMENTATION OF LOW EMISSION TECHNOLOGIESMOTIVATION | To contribute positively to the global goals of the Paris Agreement by reducing CO2 emissions in the ICT Logistics’ total logistics system.

ACTION | Through the implementation of new technologies, ICT Logistics will work to achieve a reduction of 25% in CO2 emissions by 2022 compared to 2012. Given the objective of the Paris Agreement to have phased out fossil fuels such as coal and oil by 2050, we believe there will be a need to look for further opportunities, which are not market or technologically mature today.

13.1 Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters in all countries

TRANSPORT SERVICES THAT SUPPORT GREEN ENERGY SOLUTIONSMOTIVATION | To ensure that our services contribute to pushing the transition to renewable energy sources.

ACTION | At ICT Logistics, we want to make a positive contribution to the global transition to renewable energy sources. For many years, the company has provided transport and logistics solutions to the very challenging areas where the gas and oil industry works – especially the CIS countries and Eastern Europe. However, the energy sector in particular in Eastern Europe is undergoing major changes, among other things with an increasing focus on the opportunities in wind power, and ICT Logistics would like to support this transition. Therefore, we have created a setup specifically aimed at this sector, which can meet the need for flexible transport and logistics solutions in connection with the renovation of heating lines, the re-establishment of heating systems and wind turbines. ICT Logistics provision of transport services to ”green” industries currently amount to approx. 15% of our revenue.

CLIMATE ACTION

INCREASED SHARE OF SHIP TRANSPORT IN THE MODAL SPLITMOTIVATION | To ensure that transport is done with the most climate-friendly vessel, as this reduces energy consumption, reduces total transport costs and reduces CO2 emissions.

ACTION | We use sea transport between Central Europe and the Baltics and between England and Denmark. This is a more direct route (thereby ensuring lower CO2 emissions), and we relieve the road network of heavy goods traffic. In 2018, transport by sea accounted for 10% of the total transport activities performed by ICT Logistics.

13.1 Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters in all countries

INCREASED SHARE OF RAIL TRANSPORT IN THE MODAL SPLITMOTIVATION | To increase the proportion of rail transport to destinations where it is marketable and suitable for the goods transported, as this reduces energy consumption, reduces total transport costs and reduces CO2 emissions.

ACTION | We use rail transport when possible and financially viable. Rail transport is widely used for regions in central Russia where it is often difficult to find return loads. Rail transport emits less CO2 per ton/km. In 2018, rail transport accounted for 2% of the total transport activities performed by ICT Logistics.
