Hugh Baird College, based in Bootle, Liverpool is one of the largest providers of education and training in the area, delivering over 300 courses to more than 5,000 students. Hugh Baird tailored the myday dashboard and mobile app to provide students with access to information systems and applications that are critical to their studies.

Integration was simple – the college IT team found it easy to integrate with the college’s many systems. Hugh Baird uses LearningPool as its VLE. Tasks are pulled and displayed from a variety of sources and the

students find the information easily and are better able to manage their workload. LearningPool is just one of a number of VLEs that can be integrated into myday.

Another benefit that Hugh Baird have celebrated since the introduction of myday is the ability for staff and students to easily find contact details for each other, using the myday staff search function – this has improved interaction between staff and students enormously.

Formed in 2010 as the result of a merger between two existing colleges, South Essex College has around 18,000 students including 1,200 higher education students and some 2,800 apprentices. Operations are across three campuses in Basildon, Southend and Thurrock. Like many of its contemporaries, South Essex had a desire to offer its students a digital campus environment and the ability to access college resources easily, via one log in, on a smartphone or other device.

myday was deployed as the homepage and presented as the first page students could open on a browser.

College resources such as timetables, email, calendars and attendance records – those things that students required numerous times in any day were delivered via myday with one easy access point – and via the app. Students could also easily raise a query within myday and feedback delivered with the same ease.

The customisable features of myday also means that the college can use the multiple dashboard functions for each type of student based upon any number of criteria – identity, subject, geography, campus etc.
