Technology Literacy Course (TLC)

TLC is a student-directed, teacher-mediated course designed to integrate technology literacy and 21st century information literacy skills.TLC is for students, ages 11-15. The course has three levels to build student skills over three years. TLC learning is active, creative, exploratory, and collaborative.

TLC Background

TLC Course Objectives

- Embed technology in the core curriculum for students ages 11-15

- Create opportunities for authentic research, writing, and communication

- Develop student skills in critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving

- Encourage collaboration between subject matter teacher and ICT teacher

Technology Literacy Course

- 3 Levels (Level I = 6th Grade; Level II = 7th Grade; Level III = 8th Grade)- Curriculum is flexible and can be modularized- Important concepts revisited throughout projects and levels –

more in depth- Consistent structure across levels

- Each Level includes:- 2 projects. Each project is completed per semester with

scheduling options, for example: - Two 40-minute class periods per week for 18 weeks- Four lab periods per week for 9 weeks
