2 General Backup InformationBefore starting any backup, please determine a location for the backup folder.Name the backup folder as follows: Backup_yyyymmdd

3 PLM 4.7 to 4.x

3.1 Backup - PLM 4.7 to 4.xRequirements• Connect a keyboard and a mouse to the IPC• Connect a USB Stick (or other storage medium) to the IPC

3.1.1 Backup - PLC XML Files1. Ensure that PLM is running2. Select System Settings

3. Select Edit Device Settings

4. Select tab PLC

5. Scroll down and select Teach

6. Select Read

7. Select Back

8. Select Import / Export

9. Select the following buttons:– Export all settings

– Export parameters

– Export messages

– Export counters

– Export teach parameters

10. The files are stored in …\PCE\Pilot\distribution\PLC\ (5 different files with different namesplc_plcname_exportname.xml)

11. Copy the created files

3.1.2 Backup - PLC ConfigurationThe PLC backup configuration is provided as an option besides the import / export. By selecting Import /Export all backup data are provided automatically.

1. Ensure that PLM is running2. Select System Settings

3. Select Edit Device Settings

4. Select folder PLC

5. Scroll down and select Teach

6. Select Read

7. Take screenshots for all pages of PLC configuration (see chapter Taking Screenshots )8. Save all screenshots

3.1.3 Backup - PLM System Settings Log File1. Ensure that PLM is running2. Select System Settings

4. Select Save

5. The file is stored in …\PCE\Pilot\log\ (file name system_info.log )

4. A new window Back Up Log file appears. Select the backup details (e.g. format PDF), selectBackup Drive and then Backup

5. The created backup folder of the log file is stored in the selected folder6. Copy the created file

3.1.5 Backup - PLM Log File (Debug Mode)To keep the number of entries low, the PLM does usually not log debug messages. In case of errormessages which require evaluation by PCE's R&D, activate the debug log mode as follows:1. Close PLM2. Rename the file …/Pilot/bin/logback.xml to logback_old.xml3. Rename the file …/Pilot/bin/logback-debug.xml to logback.xml4. Rename the file …/Pilot/log/plm.log to plm_old.log5. Start PLM and reproduce the relevant error6. Close PLM7. Rename the file …/Pilot/log/plm.log to plm-debug.log8. Rename the file …/Pilot/bin/logback.xml to logback-debug.xml9. Rename the file …/Pilot/bin/logback_old.xml to logback.xml10. Copy the file …/Pilot/log/plm-debug.log

Backup - PLM Log File PLM 4.10 and higherDebug.log can be activated in the PLM:System Settings > System Information > System Logging > Enable Debugging

Note

The debug log is temporary activated until next PLM shutdown.

3.1.6 PLM Line Formats1. Ensure that PLM is running2. Select Production

3. Select Add/Edit line format

4. Select a line format and choose button PDF Report

5. A new window Report settings appears. Select report template design and choose OK button

6. The file is stored in …\PCE\Pilot\pdf\ (file name lineformatname_lineformat_report_yyyyMMdd_time )7. Copy the created file

3.1.7 PLM Order Report1. Ensure that PLM is running2. Select Production

3. Select Order results create report

4. Select an order, select PDF Report

5. A new window Report settings appears. Select report template design and choose OK button

6. The file is stored in …\PCE\Pilot\pdf\ (file name lineformatname_lineformat_report_yyyyMMdd_time )7. Copy the created file

3.2 Restore - PLM 4.7 to 4.x

3.2.1 Restore - PLM Internal Database Only1. Ensure to have a backup of the database (H2)2. PLM must be closed3. Delete the folder C:\PCE\Pilot\database4. Copy the database folder from the PLM backup into the folder: C:\PCE\Pilot

3.2.2 Restore - PLM Except Internal Database1. Ensure to have a backup of the relevant PLM files, especially PLC XMLs (see chapter 3.1.1)2. Ensure PLM is closed3. Delete all folders and files in the folder except the database folder4. Copy all folders and files contained in the folder except the database folder into the folder C:\PCE\Pilot5. Restart the PLM6. Select System Settings

7. Select Edit Device Settings

8. Select corresponding tap of PLC9. Scroll down and select theImport/Export button

10. Select Import all settings

11. A window appears12. Please navigate to the folder where the PLC XML backup is stored13. Select XML and click open

4.2 Restore - PLM up to 4.61. Ensure to have a backup of the database2. Ensure that PLM is closed3. Delete the folder …\PCE\db\pilot4. Copy your database backup folder from your backup folder into …\PCE\db\

5 Smart Camera

5.1 Backup - SMC Series 1&2Requirements• Connect a keyboard and a mouse to the IPC• Connect a USB Stick (or other storage medium) to the IPC

Backup via JDataTrans1. Close PLM.2. Start JDataTrans (icon on Desktop).3. Confirm or enter the IP address of the Smart Camera.

You will find the IP address of the Smart Camera in your documents (e.g. wiring diagram) and on thetype plate on the Smart Camera.

4. Stop the Smart Camera software by selecting esc+Q . The frame (command line) under the button esc+Q will turn green.

5. Select Backup. A window appears.

6. Select the backup destination.7. Select Open.

8. The backup will be stored in the selected path with folder name CamBack-yyyy-MM-dd time.9. Close JDataTrans.10. Switch off the camera by removing the system cable for at least ten seconds.11. Connect the system cable back to the camera so it will restart.12. You may now restart the PLM.

Note

The destination must be located on a local hard drive. It is not allowed to store the backupdirectly on an USB flash drive. Afterwards, the backup can be moved to an USB stick.

5.2 Backup - SMC Series 3Requirements• Connect a keyboard and a mouse to the IPC• Connect a USB Stick (or other storage medium) to the IPC

Backup via JDataTrans1. Close PLM.2. Start JDataTrans3 (icon on Desktop).3. Confirm or enter the IP address of the Smart Camera.

You will find the IP address of the Smart Camera in your documents (e.g. wiring diagram) and on thetype plate on the Smart Camera.

4. Stop the Smart Camera software by selecting Exit Program. The terminal will display a # sign as thelast output, when the Smart Camera software stopped.

5. Select Backup.

6. A window appears.7. Select the backup destination.8. Select Save.

9. The backup will be stored in the selected path with folder name SMCBackup - yyyy-MM-dd hh-mm-ss.10. Select Reboot and wait until the Smart Camera is back to it's running state.

11. Close JDataTrans3.12. You may now restart the PLM.

You can also restart the Smart Camera by double-clicking the file "ORC7.000" in the file explorerinstead of rebooting the camera.

NOTICEUse Local DriveThe destination must be located on a local hard drive. It is not allowed to store thebackup directly on a USB flash drive. Afterwards, the backup can be moved to a USBstick.

5.3 Restore - SMC Series 1&21. Ensure that PLM is closed.2. Start JDataTrans (icon on Desktop).3. Confirm or enter the IP address of the Smart Camera.

You will find the IP address of the Smart Camera in your documents (e.g. wiring diagram) and on thetype plate on the Smart Camera. In the right window (File Explorer) you will then see a list of filesconcerning the Smart Camera.

4. Stop the Smart Camera software by selecting esc+Q. The frame (command line) under the button esc+Q will turn green.

5. Select Upload. A new window appears.

6. Select the path where your backup file is saved.7. Select the backup folder Camback - YYYY-MM-DD time.8. Select the files in the backup folder, then select Open. Allow approximately two minutes for the restore

procedure.9. Close JDataTrans.10. Switch off the camera by removing the system cable for at least 10 seconds.11. Connect the system cable back to the camera so it will restart.12. Start the PLM again.13. Open the Smart Camera screen and enter the ID Code if necessary.

Note

If the restore is from a different Smart Camera, you are asked to enter an ID Code. To get this IDCode please contact PCE.

5.4 Restore - SMC Series 31. Ensure that the PLM is closed.2. Start JDataTrans3 (icon on Desktop).3. Confirm or enter the IP address of the Smart Camera.

You will find the IP address of the Smart Camera in your documents (e.g. wiring diagram) and on thetype plate on the Smart Camera. In the right window (File Explorer) you will then see a list of filesconcerning the Smart Camera.

6 HRC CORE

6.1 Backup - HRC COREApplicable for:• HRC AI-CORE• HRC LI-CORE• HRC 360-CORE

6.1.1 Backup - System Information1. Ensure the HRC CORE is running2. Log in HRC CORE with administrator rights3. Select button Back until button Reports appears

4. Select Reports

5. Select Export

6. Select the path C:\Printinspection\

7. Select OK. A file (Systeminformation.txt) will be stored

8. Copy the created file

6.1.2 Backup - HRC CORE1. Ensure the HRC CORE is running2. Log in HRC CORE with administrator rights3. Select Management

4. Select Additional option

5. Select backup

6. Select OK. A new folder for the backup will be created (C:\Backup_Printinspection\yyyy_MM_dd_(h;min)_Verison_BackupPrintinspection)

7. Copy the created file

7 VGL 7/8

7.1 Backup - VGL7/8Requirements• Software @CHIPTOOL from Beck IPC GmbH• Connect a keyboard and a moue to the IPC• Connect a USB Stick (or other medium for storage) to the IPC

Backup1. Create a folder for backup2. Open program @CHIPTOOL

3. The program automatically scans if comparators are available and then displays all comparators found4. With right click, select VGL7 or VGL8

5. Select FTP

6. A connecting window opens. The IP address of selected comparator is automatically shown in Target-IP field

7. Enter 'ftp' in User field and password field8. Select Connect. Connecting window will close and @CHIPTOOL FTP-Client window is opened. On

the right side, you can find the comparator content. On the left side is displayed the local folderstructure

9. Select the backup folder on the left side10. Drag complete comparator content ( *.txt, *.bat, *.ini, *.exe ) on the right side to the desired path on

the left side11. Select Disconnect

12. Copy created folder

7.2 Restore - VGL 7/81. Open program '@CHIPTOOL'2. The program scans automatically if comparators are available and then displays all comparators found3. Select VGL7 or VGL8 by right click

4. Select FTP

5. A connecting window opens. The IP address of selected comparator is automatically shown in target IPfield

6. Enter ' ftp' in 'User field' and 'password field'7. Select Connect. Connecting window is closed @CHIPTOOL FTP-Client window is opened.

On the right side, the comparator content is displayed. On the left side the local folder structure isdisplayed

8. Select the path …\PCE\Pilot\distribution\VGL7_IPaddressor or VGL8_IPadress)9. Select all files ( *.txt, *.bat, *.ini, *.exe ) on the left side and drag these on the right side (comparator)10. Select Disconnect

8.1 Backup - Printer Wolke m600 advancedRequirements• Connect a keyboard and a mouse to the IPC• Connect a USB Stick (or other storage medium) to the IPC

8.1.1 Backup - Wolke m600 advanced - Labels1. Close PLM2. Create a folder for Backup3. Start Wolke Ethernet Manager (Icon on desktop) with administrator rights4. Select Connect

5. Select the path for backup in the left down window6. Mark the labels which should be stored in the upper window7. Copy the marked labels with drag and drop to the selected backup path8. Select Disconnect

9. Close Wolke Ethernet Manager10. Copy the created folder

8.1.2 Backup - Wolke m600 advanced - System Settings1. Close PLM2. Start Wolke Ethernet Manager (Icon on desktop) with administrator rights3. Select Connect to connect the printer

4. Select Install, Installation Settings

5. Select m600 > PC

6. Enter a file name (Linename_yyyyMMdd). The file will be stored on the IPC under …\Programme\Wolke\m600 Ethernet Manager\System Properties

7. Select Disconnect

8. Close Wolke Ethernet Manager9. Copy the created files

8.2 Restore - Wolke m600 advanced

8.2.1 Restore - Printer Wolke m600 advanced - Labels

1. Ensure that PLM is closed2. Start Wolke Ethernet Manager (icon on desktop) with administrator rights3. Select Connect to connect the printer

4. Select your backup folder path in the window on the lower left5. Mark the labels which should be restored in the lower window6. Copy the marked labels with drag and drop to the upper window7. Select Disconnect

8. Close Wolke Ethernet Manager

8.2.2 Restore - Printer Wolke m600 advanced - System Settings1. Ensure that PLM is closed2. Start Wolke Ethernet Manager (icon on desktop) with administrator rights3. Select Connect to connect the printer

9 PLC S7-1200

9.1 Backup - PLC S7-12001. Determine your backup folder.2. Copy all folders and files from the SD Card into the backup folder

It is not possible to create a backup of the PLC program without having a special Siemenssoftware. PCE provides program files on Siemens SD card for simple recovery processes. Thebackup purpose of the PLC is limited to the settings' export see chapter 3.1.1 Backup – PLCXML files)

9.2 Restore - PLC S7-12001. Take a backup of the PLC settings (see chapter 3.1.1)2. Close PLM3. Switch off the PLC4. Insert the SD memory card into the memory card slot of the PLC5. Switch on the PLC.

A flashing sequence between the RUN/STOP, ERROR and MAINT LEDs indicates that the program iscurrently being transferred to the controller. The end of the transfer is indicated by the RUN/STOP LEDlighting orange and the MAINT LED flashing at the same time.

6. Switch off the S7-1200 CPU and remove the SD memory card from the slot7. Switch on the S7-1200 CPU.

The application starts up automatically RUN/STOP LED lights green8. Restart the PLM9. Select System Settings

10. Select Edit Device Settings

11. Select corresponding tap of PLC12. Scroll down and select theImport/Export button

13. Select Import all settings

14. A window appears15. Please navigate to the folder where the PLC XML backup is stored16. Select XML and click open

Note

This process deletes all the data on the S7-1200 CPU and overwrites it with the contents of thememory card. The program on the memory card must always contain the complete S7-1200application (device configuration and all the blocks). Even if you only want to update amodified block, all the blocks must still be on the memory card.

10.1 Backup - PLC S7-2001. Open the file <*.mwp> with Step 7 Manager2. Select status table

3. Select <ANWENDER 1>4. Select Single Read (glasses symbol) to read the data from the CPU

5. Print data as PDF file6. Choose the sheet Fehler_aus and read the data (glasses symbol)

7. Print data as PDF file.Note the version number of the machine on the printed documents

8. Copy the <*.mwp> and the PDF file into your backup folder.

10.2 Restore - PLC S7-200Data Restore1. Switch the PLC to Stop.

2. Select the path where your backup file is saved.3. Open the file <*.mwp> with Step 7 Manager.4. Transfer the programming module and the system module into the PLC.5. Switch the PLC to Run.

Complete Restore1. Switch the PLC to Stop.

2. Open the file <*.mwp> with Step 7 Manager.3. Transfer the following modules into the PLC:

– Programming module– Data module– System data module

4. Enter all data from the stored PDF files ANWENDER1 and Fehler_aus into the fields 'Neuer Wert'.5. Enter all data and set the bit M_Store_to_EEPROM to 1.

The data will be written to the EEPROM after the next start of the PLC.6. Select the table Fehler_aus.

7. Enter all data from the stored PDF file.8. Switch the PLC to Run.

11.1 Backup - MSSQL Server DatabaseRequirements• Pilot Suite Database on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or 2012• Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio• Connect a keyboard and a moue to theIPC• Connect a USB Stick (or other medium for storage) to the IPC• Access to the database1. Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio2. Select the server name and select Connect

3. Select the database which should be backed up

4. Right Click onto the database in the tree view and select in the menu Tasks > Backup

5. Set the backup options:– Backup type Full– Backup component Database
