Karen Griego, senior prod- uct marketing manager for Amazon, will give a presen- tation on Gender Bias Pat- terns and How they Affect Our Careers. The presentation takes place during the moring portion of the morning portion of the ICSEWs May 21 meeting. The meting takes place from 8 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the Department of Labor and Indus- tries in Tumwater. Meetings are free and anyone may attend, regardless of gender or employment status. Presentation Preview: Gender Bias Patterns and How They affect Our Careers Women still face adversity in the professional world. Often times, leaning in hasnt been enough to over- come unconscious gender bias. Karen Griego will discuss four patterns of gender biases and how to navigate the ways these patterns affect our careers. She will also discuss and provide tool kits with tips on: Searching for new roles Writing a winning resume and cover letter Preparing for interviews Building your network. Following the presentation, the ICSEW will be host- ing its first ever Career Fair. Registration Info: This meeting includes a catered, networking-style lunch, so all attendees must register through Event- Brite. Greigo Career Fair Preview Following Greigos presentation, the ICSEW is host- ing its first ever career fair. The fair also takes place at the Department of Labor and Industries building. Human resources experts from state agencies and private companies will provide group and individual- ized career planning advise. Activities include mock interview panels, resume critiques, tips on creating LinkedIn Profiles, and more. Bring several copies of your resume and receive feedback by HR staff. Be prepared to have your professional headshot taken for your LinkedIn and oth- er Social Media profiles. Dress as if you were going to an Interview. Come ready to participate in mock inter- views with HR representatives. Parking Information: The Department of Labor and Industries has a limited amount of visitor parking. There is some street parking along 73 rd Avenue. An overflow parking lot is located behind Moun- tain View Church of the Nazarine, (on the free- way side) 940 Israel Road SW, Tumwater. Public transportation and carpooling are highly encour- aged.

YWCA Other Bank Drive May 20 - June 7

The ICSEW is holding a product drive for the YWCA of Olympia’s Other Bank.

ICSEW representatives and alternates will be placing collection boxes for items at their worksites May 20 to June 7, 2019.

ICSEW representatives will deliver the items to the YWCA.

If you’re interested in collecting items at your agency, contact [email protected] or 360-236-3487.

About the Other Bank:

The Other Bank distributes

household cleaning products to

thousands of low-income

individuals and families in

Thurston County. All items the

Other Bank distributes cannot be

purchased with food stamps.

Note: You can get a downloadable flyer to share from our website: icsew.wa.gov.
