Captain Richard Henry Pratt

• Richard Henry Pratt was an army officer who participated in the Indian wars on the Great Plains. After a successful experiment with the"education" of Native American prisoners at Fort Marion in Florida, Pratt received permission to establish an industrial training school for Native American children at Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He served as superintendent of the school from 1879 to 1904.

The Facing History Literacy Strategies Project: NEXT STEPS

- Following Up: A FH Teacher Leader or Staff Member will be contacting youAs with Facing History’s core work, we aim to meet teachers where they are and

support them to reach their goals. A Facing History Teacher Leader or Staff member will be contacting you to offer follow-up to support you in implementing a Literacy Strategy.

- Confirming Implementation:As part of their follow up, the FH Teacher Leader or Staff member will be asking

if you have used any of the Literacy Strategies we have modeled for you or resources we have shared.

- June 2017 Project 3rd Party Evaluation: A 3rd Party will be administering an evaluation of this project in June of 2017.

They are asking for a high return rate and we GREATLY appreciate you completing the survey. We feel we all have an important contribution to make to the field about the importance of the work of FH Teachers, Teacher Leaders and Literacy Strategies.
