Administration 48th Annual Sports Meet

The 48th Annual Sports Day was organized on 8th February 2019. Mr.J.R.Samartha, I.F.S. District Forest

officer, Madurai Division, Madurai and Dr.M.Krishnan, Vice Chancellor, Madurai Kamaraj University,

Madurai were the Chief Guests.

Vivekananda Jayanthi Celebration

The 48th Vivekananda Jayanti Day was celebrated on 9th February 2019. Dr.S.Natrajan, I.A.S. District

Collector, Madurai District was the Chief Guest.


Pulwama Attack Condolence Meeting

Our college conducted the Condolence Meeting on 22nd February 20190 for 44 CRPF Jawans who

were killed in Suicide bomb attack in Pulwama, Kashmir. Our college secretary Swami Vedananda, Principal

Dr.T. Venkatesan and Gurukula Acharyas are paid their tribute to 44 CRPF Jawans.

The Department of English conducted a one-day Workshop (Under UGC autonomy grant) on “Approaches, Methods and Theories towards Reading and Re-reading of Literary Texts” on 2nd February 2019.

Greatness of Sanskrit Language

On 23/02/2019 Department of Sanskrit has organized one day state level seminar on the Topic

“Greatness of Sanskrit Language” under UGC. Autonomy grant. Dr. G. Suresh M.A. Ph.D. Assistant professor of

Sahitya, The Madras Sanskrit College, Mylapore, Chennai -4 was the resource person for the forenoon session and

the topic for lecture is “Moral Values in Valmiki Ramayana”. Swami Adhyatmananda, Sri Ramakrishna

Tapovanam (Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Tiruvedakam West, Madurai-234) was the resource person for the

afternoon session, and he delivered a special lecture on the topic “Role of Srimath Bhagavad-Gita in daily life”.

• A One Day “INTER-COLLEGIATE MEET – VIVECOM-2019” was organized by the Post

Graduate and Research Department of Commerce, Vivekananda College, Tiruvedakam West, Madurai,

on 22nd February 2019.

National Science Day Celebration

On 28th February 2019, Department of Physics celebrated National Science day celebrations 2019 in a grand manner to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by the Nobel laureate Sir C. V. Raman. The chief guest for our function was Dr.N.Nagendran, IQAC Coordinator, Associate Professor of History, Vivekananda College. He motivated the students on the general aspects of science and its application to technology and sustainable environment development. Sri.P.Jeyasankar, Head, Department of Physics delivered the welcome note and Presidential address was delivered by our Principal Dr.T.Venkatesan. On account of Science day celebration 2019, science quiz, paper presentation, were conducted. The events were conducted exclusively for the Science students. Most of the students were involved and all the deserved students were appreciated with certificates and prizes.

Industrial Visit

On 11.02.2019, 39 II B.Sc., Physics students along with Sri V. Rajendran and Sri S. Ganesan, Assistant Professor of Physics visited U.R.Rao Satellite Centre, ISRO Bangalore. Students got an opportunity to visit the Satellite Museum to know about Indian Space Programs, various launch vehicles, its components of different stages along with their prototypes, associated control systems and assembly, integration and various testing facilities of earth storable propellant engines, cryogenic engines. Further, students along with the faculties visited the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological


Museum and went through various science exhibits, scientific working models, numerous displays and Digital Planetarium.
