COMPETITION
1. There should be special focus on deploying technological innovations such as GPS, Big data,
Artificial intelligence and IoT in daily farming practices.
2. Focused research efforts towards design and development of farm machinery suitable for
different type of soils, farm sizes and diverse crops are required.
3. Faster testing for speedier induction of new farm machinery/innovations: A joint working group
of government and industry representatives needs to thoroughly review current testing
methods and suggest best practices prevailing worldwide to smoothen and accelerate the
testing process.
4. There is 20% cheaper power generation from crop residues used as biomass as against coal
based power plant. Therefore biomass-based energy plants utilizing crop residue for electricity
generation should be promoted.
5. Access to Custom Hiring Center services is not uniform across categories of farmers. As the
number of CHCs need to increase, especially in central and eastern region, innovative financial
products for end users should be designed by financial institutions, to enable farmers to
purchase the CHC services.
