The IUT is a real meeting place and is surrounded by a botanical garden. It is composed of eight
departments and offers 28 courses (eight undergraduate programmes and 20 Bachelor
degrees) in the fields of Food Engineering, Health Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Networks and Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Quality control and Logistics,
Chemical Engineering and Business Technologies.
The IUT Nancy-Brabois has bilateral agreement regarding Erasmus exchange with 30 universities
all over Europe and is part of the BMD system. The IUT also has special links with Québec, the
French speaking part of Canada. Each year the IUT welcomes a large number of students from China,
Gabon, Mexico and Thailand.The international relations office will help you with every step during your stay: registration, housing,
tutoring, grants, information, etc…

Lorraine. The objective of the new university is to acquire international visibility as well as becoming
a leader in regional and national development. There is a double challenge to undertake, that of scientific

Collegium of Technology
The eight IUT (University Institutes of Technology) of Lorraine, spread all around Lorraine,

If you are from one of the member states of the European economic area and if your country of

Nancy has been named “city of Art and History” and is referred to as the “cradle of French Art Nouveau”
due to its unique architectural heritage. Places of interest to visit include Place de la Carrière, Saint-
Epvre Basilica and Place Stanislas (registered on the list of UNESCO world heritage sites).
Nancy boasts a wide range of activities. There is something for everyone from bike rides to amuse-
ments parks close by. It is ideally situated for travel-ling. It only takes 1h30 by TGV train to Paris, 2h to
Germany and Strasbourg, and 3h to Belgium.

I obtained my Bachelor
degree in June 2010 after a whole
year spent at the IUT Nancy-Brabois.
When I first arrived in Nancy, I realized straight away that I was in good hands : the teachers gave me a warm welcome and the students of my class took care of me and are nowadays real friends.
As I went along, I became totally integrated into my new life and into the student life of Nancy. I also took advantage of weekends and holidays
to visit France; Nancy of course but also Montpellier, Strasbourg, Paris and Rouen. It
really was a great experience.

The beginnings are always
difficult: new places, new
people, and new culture, everything
around is new…
The first few days I felt lost and lonely, but soon I found out that there was nothing to be worried
about. The IUT as a building is not oversized and what is the most important about the IUT
are the people you meet. I found them very helpful, sociable and pleasant. Shortly after arriving and thanks to everyone’s support I
could honestly say “it feels like home here”. It was an unforgettable experience. I learned a lot more than I could have learned while staying
at home, in Poland. I came to France as a beginner and I left with an advanced level of French. It cost me a lot of effort and time, it
wasn’t easy at all, but now, without any doubts, I can say that it was definitely worth it.
Grants
If you are interested in coming to study at the IUT Nancy-Brabois for
one or two semesters then you can apply for the Erasmus grant.
You can also apply for mobility grants ; in that case ask the
international relations office of your home university.
