On order to motivate young people to participate , achieve and thereby enabling them to progress to further learning, the government has created a new Curriculum for 14 to 19 year olds. In today's changing world, the curriculum changes will make young peoples’ education more relevant and interesting.

Raise the level of participation and achievement of young people.

Reduce the assessment burden for both learners and teachers.

Provide greater strengths ,challenges to enhance the breadth and depth of the learning process.

Equipped young people with the knowledge, skills needed to succeed in adult life, further learning and employment.

Strengthen vocational routes in order to improve the quality and status needed by employers.

GCSEs and A-Levels. Diplomas. Apprenticeships. Functional skills. Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)

Reduce the burden placed on students due to large number of examinations.

Designed to :◦ more challenging ◦ stimulating to students,◦ Bolster students’ motivation.

Students to be assessed by broad range of question types.

Synoptic assessments to determine the students’ understanding of the whole subject.

A diploma combines both theory and practical experience.

Qualification designed to enhance the work-related competence levels for young peoples.

For less academic teenagers, can be more interesting and relevant qualification.

Future options i.e. (Sixth Form, college, Apprenticeship, University) .

The structure maps well with the modern industry practice and the demands.

Help to develop the knowledge, understanding and transferable skills needed for the future.

This is a combination of paid work with on-the-job training.

Training leads to nationally recognized qualifications developed by the industry.

Can make employees (young people) reach high levels of competencies.

Increase productivity. Address skills gaps.

• Practical skills in English, information and communication technology (ICT) and mathematics .

• Equip the young to work confidently, effectively and independently in life.

• skills necessary for young people to fulfill their potential.

• An integral part of other qualification e.g. Diplomas, Apprenticeships etc.

• Without them, the young are less likely to succeed.

• Gives young people the opportunity to choose a mix of learning which motivates, interests and challenges them.

• Require teacher's knowledge of how to teach the skills, knowledge, concepts and attitudes of the subject.

• Curriculum ensure the success of the 14-19 provision, and for it to be the best anywhere (DfES, 2007a).

In order to raise the education and skills levels of students, the curriculum changes were necessary .

• The delivering of education that offers students life and social skills.

• Prepares young people for study at a higher level or employment.

• Prepares student to face the fast-changing world.
