Depending on your climate, summer may
still seem like a few snowflakes away. Butnow’s the perfect time to start thinking
“vacation” and making plans for warmer
months ahead.
If you’re looking for a not-so-typical
getaway this year, consider one of the
many summer festivals around the country
that celebrates something out of the
ordinary. Like these:
Gilroy Garlic Festival
Gilroy is the southernmost city in the San
Francisco Bay area and is nicknamed the
“Garlic Capital of the World.” Every year
they host the world-famous Gilroy Garlic
Festival where guests can sample tons of
delicious food (yes, most with garlic)
including Gilroy’s infamous garlic ice
cream. There’s also music, arts and crafts,
rides and the famous Great Garlic Cook-
Off, in which the greatest garlic-themed
recipe of the year is announced. Last year,
over 108,000 people showed up for a tasteof the festival. This year the 32nd annual
Gilroy Garlic Festival takes place
July 23–25.
Maine Lobster Festival
Each year, the small town of Rockland,
Maine, hosts the annual Maine Lobster
Festival. Apart from massive amounts of
lobster meat, clams and other assorted
seafood, the festival features the bizarre
Lobster Crate Race, in which contestants
attempt to walk across a string of 50
lobster crates from one dock to
another without falling into the
cold Atlantic. The festival also
includes a seafood cooking
contest, a 10k run, music and
lots of activities for kids.
This year’s lobster fest runs
August 4–8.
Woofstock
Woofstock could be considered theworld’s biggest party for dogs and their
people. The no-admission outdoor festival
takes place in Toronto’s St. Laurence
Market, and features games, food, fashion
shows, music, talent shows and other
festivities for more than 140,000 dog
lovers and their furry friends. This year
dogs and dog lovers can participate on
June 12 and 13, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Impressions Enters “Going Green” the Scene by
Before Thomas Edison’s invention of the
light bulb, people slept an average of 10
hours a night. Today Americans average
6.9 hours of sleep on weeknights and
7.5 hours per night on weekends.
Insights
“Going Green.” It sounds so cool to say and it seems everybody’s doing it. But what does it really
mean? According to a popular “self-help” website, “Going Green” is described as the process of changing
one's lifestyle for the safety and benefit of the environment….including decisions about their daily lives
while considering what impact the outcome of those decisions may have on global warming, pollution, loss
of animal habitats, and other environmental concerns.
In other words….taking responsibility to making a positive difference to those around you. Now that’s an
impressive idea!
Which is why “Going Green” for Impressions was such a “natural” fit and a big initiative they’ve been “harvesting” for
quite some time. So the decision was made to expand even further their own “crop” of eco-friendly products, services
and labor.
And by “green”… they mean:
• Every print job uses eco friendly soy based ink
• The majority of the paper used is at minimum 10% post consumer waste
• Ninety-nine percent of all paper scrap is recycled and is monitored annually to track efforts
• Eco-friendly solvents used in printing and for easier recycling as waste
• Paper suppliers are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certified. FSC is a governing entity
that oversees global sustainability and environment principles, criteria and standards.
“Our decision to “Go Green” wasn’t to
follow a trend. We actually consider it a
responsibility to our community to keep
ourselves as a company, accountable,”
said Jeff Summerford, Impressions CEO.
“We decided as a full-service printer, we
would do a better job at making apositive difference so that professionally
and personally, everyone benefits for
years to come. That’s not trendy.
That’s just smart.”
With every order, from start to
finish, Impressions’ commitment
to joining the world-wide effort to
protect our planet and environment
is just another great reason to
choose Impressions Printing
for all your printing and
creative needs.

Sentiments “I don’t mind going back to Daylight Saving
Time. With inflation, the hour will be the
only thing I’ve saved all year.” -Victor Borge
Daylight Saving Time equals springing
ahead—and for many people, that canmean falling behind.
Losing just one hour in your schedule can
disrupt your body’s circadian rhythm,
interrupt sleep patterns and negatively
affect your daily routine.
It may seem like losing one hour should be
no big deal, but it appears to be significant
as evidenced by the increase in auto
accidents in the two days following the
Daylight Saving Time shift. Moodiness and
exhaustion are also common, which can
lead to fatigue and irritability. And for
parents, this loss of sleep can mean a
disruption in their children’s natural
sleep systems.
To make it through the time change with
little to no consequences, think aheadbefore you spring ahead.
Schedule gradual sleep adjustments.
Make sure your sleep schedule is regular
for most of the week. On Friday, Saturday
and Sunday go to bed 30 minutes earlier
than normal. A regular schedule lets your
brain know when it is supposed to sleep.
Don’t take naps over the weekend.
The extra sleep will mess with your
nighttime schedule.
Avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol.
Caffeine and nicotine are stimulants and
can suppress deep sleep. Alcohol may
make you sleepy, but it will not let you
sleep deeply. Try to avoid these substances
within three hours of bedtime.
Exercise 30 minutes each day. Regular
exercise relieves tension, uses excess
energy and helps the mind unwind after a
hard day at work, allowing for restful,
uninterrupted sleep.
Make your bedroom a haven,
not a workplace.
A quiet, dark and cool bedroom is the
perfect environment. Remove distractions
such as television, computers, video games
and bright lights. Consider unwinding with
meditation and relaxation exercises 20 to
30 minutes before bed—this will prepare
your mind and body for the night ahead.

Ask Denise Vladovich, Director of
Business Development, Medical
Liaison for RELAX THE BACK
tores what she considers, well….
elaxing about using Impressions
Printing. And she’ll tell you…“quality
products…backed by quality service.”
Relax The Back specializes in
products designed to help prevent and
elieve back pain. The stores in
Oklahoma City and Tulsa are ranked
#1 and #2 nationally, and the company
also has markets in Boca Raton,
Houston, and Seattle. They’re knownor their Zero-Gravity recliners,
rgonomic office furnishings, and
pressure-relieving sleep systems.
Their staff consultants are all trained
n spinal health and anatomy.
So when Relax the Back started
ooking to update their new sales
materials, it was certainly “comforting”
o find a printer willing to be a
partner, and not just a business
ooking to sell.
“At Impressions, they truly understand
that printed materials should reflect the
professionalism of the business. And
the quality materials we receive with
every job give us a “look” that is
recognizable and effective,” said
Vladovich. “Just like we educate our
clients about back pain, we turned to
the pros at Impressions for guidance
on the best way to produce materials in
a creative and cost-effective manner.
From logo design to die-cut booklets,
the results are always top-notch.”
But after all this time, whyImpressions?
“For over 13 years, the interaction
with everyone on the Impressions
team has been friendly, engaging and
professional. I feel the key to Relax
the Back’s success seems to be the
same as the key to Impressions’
success… providing high-quality
solutions with old-fashioned service.
And they’ve never missed a deadline.
What’s more relaxing than that?”

Turn Up the Heat Without Cranking Up the Furnace
When outside temperatures
plummet, most people reach for the
thermostat. But there are ways you
can warm up without increasing
your energy costs—a win-win for
both the environment and your
bank account. Before you send
your furnace into overdrive, try to
create a little heat with a few of
these suggestions.
1. Plastic is your friend, at leastwhen it comes to sealing off your
windows. Most people are not in
the market to replace their old
windows or doors, so this is the
next best option. Window
insulation comes in kits and is
easy to put up. It does a great job
at keeping that draft at bay, and
most people won’t notice it since
it’s transparent.
2. Reverse your fans to runclockwise. It might seem
counter-intuitive to have fans
running during the winter, but
reversing the direction helps
move warm air down from
the ceiling.
3. Drink and eat warm foods and
beverages. This is a good time
the year to try new soups or
sample a variety of teas, flavor
coffees or other drinks like ho
cider or hot lemonade.
4. Get an electric blanket or smal
space heater. They use less
energy than running your
furnace higher.
5. Dress in layers. If you’re runn
around the house in a T-shirt a
jeans when the temps are in th
single digits, throw on a
sweatshirt and some socks and
shoes or slippers. Layers provi
insulation and help keep your
body heat in.
Also, to keep your furnace
operating as efficiently as possib

paper can have a significant impact on theappearance of the printed images. If your piece is

Five Ways Travelers
Saved Money in 2009
For some airline passengers, flying
the friendly skies comes with a
boatload of anxiety.
To help calm their fears, Virgin
Atlantic recently launched its first
iPhone app called Flying Without
Fear. The app was developed in
partnership with Mental Workout,
which has also created applications
designed to help people overcome
insomnia. The app sells for $4.99
and covers material that Virgin
Atlantic reviews during its in-
person courses for fearful fliers.
In preparation for flight jitters, the
videos run through the in-flight
experience and address topics like
wing movement and turbulence. If
struck by a wave of intense anxiety,
users can click on the “fear attack
button” for a breathing exercise and
other tips, along with Virgin’s
reassuring words, “This is natural.
We know you’re scared. You will
be okay.”
This isn’t the only iPhone app
developed for travelers, of course—
iPhone users can choose from a
myriad of other apps that can
enhance their on-the-go experience.
Here are some of the most popular.

Calendars are an effective tool in promotional advertising. It’s
estimated that 99 percent of U.S. homes and businesses use a
printed calendar, which gives you the opportunity to promote your
products and services with 12 unique messages each year.
Passing Glance
Tick tock…Tick tock. Ahhh….the wonderful sound
of time moving along. A sound many busy
individuals and businesses
would love to hear more of,
but quite honestly, seem to
hear even less of in this
faster-than-ever pace we
work and live in today. So
when it came time to enhance
overall service offerings for 2010,
the Impressions team decided that
saving customers time and money is still
at the top of the list. They enhanced an
already sophisticated feature in their
website, simply called “Send-A-File.”
So what’s the big deal? If you’ve
spent any time doing business on acomputer, you’ve probably
mastered the technique of sending
attachments via daily on-line
correspondence. But when it
comes to printing and creating,
sending a file becomes less
about just “getting it there”
and much more about
efficiency, quality and
peace of mind.
The “Send-A-File” feature
on the newly designed Impressionswebsite allows customers to send in
printing projects electronically from any computer,
at anytime with just a click of a button. Gone is the
timely task of dropping off CDs, flash drives, or
worrying about how to simply start a project when
time really matters. Users can also enjoy an
automatic response letting them know files have
been received with the option to submit special
comments, including listing their preferred meth
of communication for follow-up. Service, value
commitment. Yeah…”you can do that” at
Impressions.
“In our industry, it was surprising to find that m
customers experienced the most anxiety and
disappointment during the file transfer process a
were often left wondering if their projects were
received with the quality and turn-around they
need,” said Jason McWilliams, Impressions VP
Sales. “Our new Send-A-File offers a convenien
and “easy to use” quality that anyone, at any lev
of technical–savvy can use and benefit from. It’
about creating solutions that save customers tim
and money every time you choose Impressions
Printing.”
