Maison Dada, Design Editor since 2016, was created in Shanghai and in Paris by Designer Thomas Dariel and Delphine Moreau.

Maison Dada was born out of the wild dream to inject a dose of Dadaism into our everyday life. Maison Dada develops furniture, lighting, rugs and accessories with in mind the desire to create the unexpected from ordinary objects, the will to harmonize dreams and reality.

DADA IS A STATE OF MIND

Collages, inventions, re-appropria-tions: Maison Dada creates objects that are gently crazy, defying cer-tainty, taste and gravity. The style is poetic, bold, playful, daring and based on the belief that everybody deserves inspiring and meaningful design.

Maison Dada artistic direction is in the hands of Thomas Dariel who leads its creative potential through his own design pieces and the supervision for the overall design selection.

Of course, there will always be

thosewho look only at technique,

who ask 'how',while others

Collection 2017 / Seoul by Day

The South-Korea capital is known for its Thirty-one bridges spanning the vast Hangang River. The collection was born from this idea: the view one may have from the sky looking over Seoul, the graphic and natural patterns created by the river winding its way through the City and crossed by a multitude of bridges connecting both banks and their inhabitants. A cartographic reference that is also translated through the rugs’ mix of materials and thickness variation, the fragility of the silk lines contrasting with large wool geometrical tint areas.

Vibration, perspective, energy, Shanghai By Night is an interpretation of what could define the gigantic City that is Shanghai. While geometrical shapes and pure lines empower the pieces with masculinity, pastel shades and roundness soothe this strength at first sight by bringing softness and poesy. As much as Shanghai and its everlasting contrasts, the rugs feature a combination of opposite elements, which, well balanced, finally lead to harmony.

Collection 2018 / Autumn in New York

Vibrant, electric, blunt and gritty, this capsule collection – based on Sophie Dariel’s illustrations - features seven pieces that bring back New York’s autumn memories. While the graphic patterns of the background reflect that whatever the season the city exist in black and white to the great tunes of jazz, the rugs as well depict why the town is at its best during the cool days of autumn. Wandering through Central Park, the ginkgo trees turning bright yellow against the high blue skies, everything crisp and golden as an apple. Autumn in New York collection captures these dreamlike images. Juicy autumnal fruits, glowing foliage and explosion of colors…a graphic answer to Billie Holiday’s question “Autumn in New York, why does it seem so inviting?”

Artistic DirectorThomas Dariel

As great grandson of a French furniture designer, grandson of a jazz musician and son of an architect, he has always drawn his strength and inspiration from his family heritage. French Designer by training and tireless traveler, he came to China in 2006 to launch his own interior design studio at the age of 24.

Dariel has since earned the praise of the interior design industry. He has received several awards, among them selection for Best International Interior Designer - 2012 Andrew Martin Awards, awarded Top 100 talents in Architecture and Design – 2017, 2015 and 2013 AD Magazine, Top 40 Young Design Talents under 40 – 2013 Perspective 40 Under 40, Top 10 Best Designer in China – Vantage Magazine 2016. In 2017, Thomas Dariel has been elected The Young Design Talent of the Year by EDIDA China Awards, Design Talent of the Year by Trends and The Person of the Year by Trends Home magazines.

Dariel draws his creativity from the different worlds of design, fashion, gastro-nomy, visual arts and luxury. His design philosophy is driven by his passion for breaking traditional codes and clichés which creates a new language for each design. By confronting heritage and cutting-edge innovations, combining French design heritage with Eastern cultural influence, Thomas Dariel’s open approach unfolds original perspectives.

Thomas Dariel is recognized for his very personal creative style and his habit to push boundaries, to provoke and surprise. A singular signature that he has extended with success to product design, signing with – among others – Cappel-lini and Moroso. In 2015 and while pursuing his interior design activity, Dariel decided to revive a childhood’s dream by launching his own brand of furniture, lighting, rugs and accessories, Maison Dada.

Born in Paris, José Lévy enters the world of design through the fashion door.First with his eponymous label José Lévy à Paris, he establishes himself bothas an outstanding colorist and as a tailor working with the utmost precision.His style, characterized by a chic that is altogether casual, uncompromisingand irreverent, wins him immediate success and visibility with an internationalaudience. He also directs creation for Cacharel, Nina Ricci, Holland & Holland and Ungaro.A conceptor as much as a designer, a storytelling art director, José Lévy’sinfluence spreads from fashion to stage, photography, store concepts andfurniture design, in order to shed a kaleidoscopic light onto his projects.His encounter with the Manufacture de Sèvres projects him into the worldof decorative arts. From porcelain to crystal, from furniture to rugs and objects,José Levy successfully collaborates with the greatest editors: CristalleriesSaint Louis, Roche Bobois, Astier de Villatte, Déshoulières. In parallel, healso starts working on scenography projects, like the recent Villa Kujoyamaand Petit Palais collaborations. He also takes part in numerous artistic collaborations such as the projects he developed with the art and design galleriesPerrotin, Tools, S.Bensimon and Next Level, to name but a few.In order to illustrate his personal creative vision, José Lévy has always collabo-rated with artists such as Tim Walker, Jack Pierson, Jay-Jay Johanson, PierreEven, Gotscho and Nan Goldin.Vibrant and alive with memories, rich with a thorough knowledge of culturesand craftmanships ranging from fashion design to home design, José Lévy’screations are the fruit of a multi-faceted talent that stands at the crossroadsof fashion, design, arts and architecture.

Collaboration with

Arik LevyArtist, technician, photographer, designer, video artist, Levy's skills are mul-tidisciplinary and his work can be seen in prestigious galleries and museumsworldwide. Best known publicly for his sculptures – such as his signature Rockpieces –, his installations, limited editions and design, Levy nevertheless feels“The world is about people, not objects.”

Hailing originally from Israel and moving to Europe after his first participationin a group sculpture exhibition in Tel-Aviv in 1986, Levy currently works in hisstudio in Paris.

His formation was unconventional where surfing, as well as his art and graphicdesign studio, took up much of his time back home. Following studies at theArt center Europe in Switzerland he gained a distinction in Industrial Designin 1991.

After a stint of four months in Japan where he consolidated his ideas producingproducts and pieces for exhibitions, Levy then returned to Europe where hecontributed his artistry to other fields like contemporary dance and opera byway of stage installation, lighting, video and more.

The creation of his studio then meant a foray back to his first love, art anddesign, where design was a vehicle of science, technology and materials that canbe seen in Levy’s artworks as well as other branches of his talents.

Considering himself now more of a "feeling" artist, Arik Levy continues tocontribute substantially to our interior and exterior milieu, his work includingpublic sculpture, as well as complete environments that can be adapted formulti use. "Life is a system of signs and symbols," he says, “where nothing isquite as it seems."
