GLOBAL WARMING IN GREENLANDINTRODUCTIONWHAT IS GLOBAL WARMING?Global warming is growing heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere which causing global temperature to rise. According to the report to the Commerce Department from Consul, at Bergen, Norway, the Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot.

Climate change and global warming are hot topics of discussion all over the world. This condition also affects places nearby Arctic Ocean especially Greenland.

Greenland is one of the largest islands in the world and is mostly covered by an ice cap of more than 2.5 million cubic km. The effects of climate change due to global warming are most visible at Greenland, where the ice cap is melting at a very fast rate. Greenland also is one of the places which the ice sheet is often mentioned in connection with the debates on increases in global temperature.

Due to climate change, the winter temperatures on the ice cap ofGreenland have increased by about5 degrees Celsius, spring and autumn temperatures have increased by about 3 degrees Celsius. Summer temperatures have remained unchanged.
