“do the very best job we can,” is the philosophy undertaken by rogers (ark.) Water utilities Plant manager mike Lawrence and his staff. doing the best job at the award-winning rogers Wastewater Treatment Plant means achieving high treatment standards while keeping costs as minimal as possible.

“Following the leadership of our utilities manager, we’ve tried to do everything we can for effluent quality without breaking the bank,” Lawrence said, noting that the rogers plant performance includes total nitrogen reduction even though permitting does not currently require it.

People have noticed the effluent quality, including the united States environmental Protection agency, which honored the plant twice with environmental excellence awards. meanwhile visitors to the facility are often struck by its immaculate condition.

Lawrence joined rogers utilities as plant manager just a week after the treatment plant was christened 21 years ago. He has since overseen two major expansions, the most recent completed in march 2009. designed by Black & Veatch and built by BrB contractors, the recent expansion affected all

phases of the plant. It increased flow and upgraded process equipment throughout the entire plant scheme.

a principal component is the new headworks facility, which includes screening and a new Smith & Loveless PISTA® 360™ grit removal system with patented V-Force Baffle™. according to Lawrence, grit removal historically caused problems at the plant following large flow surges that often overwhelmed the original grit and scum system.

“(The original system) was unable to meet our needs during high flows,” Lawrence explained. “under these conditions we not only had the higher flows, which increased the upward velocities in the unit, but the scouring or flushing of grit from the collection system during these events also added to the problem.”

Because larger quantities of grit flushed through from collection system I&I, grit build-up occurred over time in downstream basins.

Working with their consultants, Lawrence and robert moore, rogers Water utilities Operations & maintenance manager, sought new approaches to prevent the grit build-up. The

expansion, planned for 20 years growth, increased design conditions to 14 mGd (from 6.7 mGd), while peak capacities were set at 48 mGd because of the I&I from its collection system. This large variance made successful grit removal system selection more complex, and with the historical infiltration, also more essential.

True to their philosophy, Lawrence and moore undertook a thorough evaluation process. Their course of action included numerous visits to other wastewater treatment plants, collaboration with colleagues and meetings with various equipment suppliers. They personally observed and evaluated several grit removal approaches, eventually choosing to go with a vortex-type approach.

even still, the new flow conditions posed challenges for a vortex chamber design. Low daily flows compared to the peak flow would typically necessitate multiple vortex grit chambers and the use of downstream leveling devices to effect proper channel velocities required to move grit. during the evaluation process, Lawrence and moore became acquainted with the PISTa® 360™ grit removal system with patented V-Force Baffle™.

“One of the attractive things about the PISTa® was its ability to handle this wide range of flows,” Lawrence said, referring to the single chamber system.

Rogers, Arkansas WWTP Grit TestingFollowing installation and start-up of the rogers PISTa® 360™ Grit removal System, grit testing was performed to profile the influent grit and measure the grit removal efficiency achieved by the system.

*The key to obtaining accurate results is acquiring representative grit samples with proper testing equipment that limits channel interference and/or bias. For example, extensive research by Smith & Loveless has demonstrated that the bulk of all sizes of grit will be located along the bottom of the flume (operating with normal velocity conditions of 2 – 3.5 fps). On the contrary, improper sampling techniques can lead to bad samples and an inaccurate report. Smith & Loveless follows the proven industry standard field grit testing techniques developed and maintained for more than 30 years, including written protocols for field sampling and lab analysis to ensure accurate and consistent processes.

grit capture during surges. V-Force Baffles™ uniquely positioned within a 360-degree, flat-floor grit chamber comprise a patented hydraulic design. This design creates a forced vortex for efficiently removing grit at all flows. an opening in the center of the chamber floor allows the grit to move into a lower collection hopper, where it is fluidized and then pumped for cleaning and dewatering.

The key to its success in the rogers application is the integral V-Force Baffle™ design, which serves as a water level control device. When the lower daily flows ensue, the baffle design causes the water level to change, thus maintaining high velocities across the channel for efficient movement of grit into the chamber. Before the introduction of the V-Force Baffle™ design, the most common way of controlling the velocity in low flow periods was to back up flow with a downstream submerged weir. The pre-engineered PISTa® 360™ with preset inlet and outlet openings supplants the need for a downstream submerged weir.

By integrating water elevation settings with the patented baffle design, the overall outlet footprint requirements also decreased and enabled the outlet channel to make a 90-degree turn just past the chamber. most significantly for rogers Water utilities, the need for multiple units was eliminated. Instead a single model 50B PISTa® 360™ with V-Force Baffle™ (rated at 50 mGd capacity) covers daily and peak flows in a single chamber. The significance of reducing the design to just one chamber can’t be understated. It not only reduced capital costs by nearly half, but it also lessened the long-term energy,

A Guide To Grit Testing

WHY TEST FOR GRIT?

The purpose of a Grit removal efficiency Test is to evaluate the removal efficiency of the grit removal unit and determine the volume of the various sizes of grit being removed.

The key to being able to provide an accurate, representative report of the equipment is acquiring representative grit samples. Improper sampling techniques can lead to bad samples and an inaccurate report. To ensure accurate, representative samples are taken, testing technicians must understand several key concepts.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GRIT TESTING

1) What is grit? Grit is any inorganic mineral matter, such as silica sand or rock that will have an approximate specific gravity of 2.65. Water has a specific gravity of 1.0025. most grit captured in the waste stream has an extremely thin black iron oxide or sulfide coating that does not affect grit removal. competitors often use new, bagged sand for their tests, which does not have the thin black coating. This type of sand is not representative of what is typically found in a waste stream.

2) What size is grit? The largest quantity of grit encountered in most locations is larger than 50 mesh. The quantity of grit diminishes rapidly as the grit size gets smaller. The standard grit sizes found in a waste stream are 50 mesh, 70 mesh and 100 mesh. Grit smaller in size than 100 mesh is normally in a small quantity and not of sufficient size to cause significant accumulation or excessive wear in downstream equipment. additionally, this size of grit is typically entrained in the mix and does not settle out in the treatment basin.

3) Grit does not flow like water. Water flowing down a flume uniformly fills the flume. However, grit is heavier than water so the grit entrained in this water is not uniformly distributed unless the velocity of the water is extremely high. Grit normally travels in a thin layer along the floor of the flume because its specific gravity is heavier than water. due to the velocity profile, the flume layout, or any interferences within the flume, the grit may be in located on one side or the other of the flume because it will travel to areas where the flow velocity is lowest. Typically the majority of the grit is located in the lower corners at the bottom of the flume. In a very few cases, grit will be found in the middle of the flume or flowing evenly along the bottom.

Grit Sizes: actual grit with a dime placed by each grit particle size. By weight, the majority of grit found at a typical wastewater treatment plant is 100 mesh and larger. (100, 70, 50, 20, etc.)

Order LOcaLLy FrOm yOur Smith & Loveless Representative 7

4) Velocity is a key factor in grit removal and grit testing. always check velocities with a velocity meter regularly during testing periods and assure that the velocities are within 2 to 3-1/2 feet per second.

If the velocity is not 2 ft. per second, then most of the larger grit will not move because there is not sufficient force to cause it to move. even smaller grit may not move at velocities less than two feet per second. On the flip side, velocity in excess of the rated grit chamber velocity can also cause problems, such as excessive turbulence. For instance, running 80 mGd through a 70 mGd unit can cause abnormal results.

SAMPLING POSITION IN FLUME CROSS SECTION

From the factors just mentioned that can impact a grit test, it can be readily seen that a representative grit sample is best taken along the entire bottom of the flume in a horizontal cross section. The truest mix of grit will be on the bottom of the flume where the largest volume of grit, in all sizes, will be located. The grit volume on the bottom is large because once a grit particle touches the bottom it takes a much higher velocity to force it off of the bottom and re-entrain it in the flow.

The points for grabbing the grit sample are located at the bottom of the flume, across the width of the inlet and exit flumes. a total of ten (10) grit sample pairs are recommended from a minimum of six (6) different points across the width of the bottom of the flume. Four (4) additional samples are

Location of the Influent and Effluent Sample Probes in the Flumes

Both probes must point INTO the flow and must be kept vertical and solidly fixed in place. The probe ends must be on the BOTTOm of the flumes.

LOCATION: The inlet (influent) probe should be as close to the chamber inlet as practical. Placement directly before the ramp is the most desired location. The exit (effluent) probe needs to be right at the exit. If it is convenient, it can be set up further away from the PISTA® exit down the flume.

Page 8: INTRODUCING: The NEW Smith & Loveless PISTA 360™ Grit

recommended. One (1) grit sample pair equals one (1) sample taken from the influent and one (1) sample taken from the effluent. The inlet samples must be taken directly ahead of the coanda ramp, on the 270 degree model and as close as possible to the 15 degree slope on the 360 degree model. The exit samples must be taken at the exit of the PISTa® Grit chamber.

DETERMINING WHEN TO SAMPLE & REQUIRED PAIRS OF SAMPLES

Ideally, samples are taken when the flow through the plant is going to be relatively uniform for the duration of the grit test. additionally, the sampling times should be representative of a typical day, meaning samples should be taken during early morning, noon and possibly evening hours. That is why Smith & Loveless recommends ten (10) pairs of samples taken throughout a representative day. In some cases, a specification may call out 30 pairs of samples, but from Smith & Loveless’ extensive testing results, it has found ten (10) pairs of samples, taken correctly, provide the same grit test results. Typically, the largest volumes of grit in the grit test will be captured early in the morning, generally from 5 a.m. to approximately 9 a.m. when the general population begins to take showers and get out of bed. Keep in mind that it may take a while for these higher flows to reach the WWTP in some cases.

If there was a recent rain event or other factor suddenly increasing or decreasing flow to the grit removal unit, this will also impact the results of the grit removal test and not provide an accurate representation of the unit’s performance. The goal is to perform the test when the quantity and size of grit flowing through the plant will be relatively constant and relatively representative of typical flows.

GRIT TEST LOCATION

Pretest Check – Before Going On Site

To save time, before setting up a grit test a survey of the grit unit to be tested should be performed prior to going to the site to verify whether there are openings in the influent and effluent flumes for grit testing. See diagram on page 7 for the position of the inlet and effluent sample probes. This may be pre-assessed by “as-constructed” drawings.

Pretest Check – At The Site

Preliminary tests can be run to check the grit flow. Because grit does not flow like water, the largest grit flow will be where the water velocity is lowest. This points to the inside of bends, along sidewalls and along the bottom of the flume.

If there are no bends in the flume, the largest grit flow will be along the bottom corner connected to the inside of the bend.

Velocity can cause test results to be extremely flawed and inconclusive if it is too low or too high.

Page 9: INTRODUCING: The NEW Smith & Loveless PISTA 360™ Grit

Order LOcaLLy FrOm yOur Smith & Loveless Representative 9

By running a few preliminary tests, you’ll soon be able to see how much grit is in the flow. a preliminary test can be run by starting the grit sample and holding an 18 mesh sieve under the outlet of the polypipe, directly over the test settling tank. This will quickly show you how much grit is at this location by whether grit collects or doesn’t collect on the sieve.

Starting the Sample Test - Achieving A Valid Sample

each sample test must have both influent and effluent grit samples. make sure to clearly mark which is the influent grit sample and which is the effluent grit sample.

The liquid must be allowed to discharge into the container for a sufficient amount of time to capture a minimum of 200 grams (approx 1-1/2 cups) combined influent post-burn sample. If less than 200 grams is collected, then the test will be void. The time span for the sample run may range anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours. run times are determined based on the time required to collect 200 grams post-burn sample size per influent test, based on the pre-test. documentation is key. record the run time for each sample. make sure the sample lines do not become plugged and reduce the flow. Observe the overflow from the settling tanks and assure that the flow

remains constant. If the line plugs, pull both lines and let them flow into the drains or back into the flume. Note the time and stop the test. remove the plug and then restart the test. dispose of all samples collected prior to the plug occurrence. Some grit testing companies will not stop the test while their test probe is plugged which leads to inaccurate test results.

If the flow rate or the influent characteristics of the flow changes significantly during the test, the test should be stopped. The test should not be restarted until similar flow characteristics return to the plant.

all sample runs for a single test must be completed within a 10-hour period and can not be carried over to a subsequent day. all collected samples should be processed at a laboratory to burn off all organics, followed by the weighing and recording of results.

Before you sign up for a grit test, find out the company’s protocol for grit testing. also, don’t forget to compare their results to what you observe being dumped into your dumpster from your grit removal system. If they tell you your system isn’t removing grit - compare that to the grit in your dumpster. S

recently a comparative grit removal efficiency test was performed using cross-channel Sampling (ccS) and the Vertical Integrated Sampler (VIS). Both types of tests were performed on the same Vortex Grit Tank at 70 mGd during dry weather conditions. The Vertical Integrated Sampler was tested first, followed by cross-channel Sampling.

The Vertical Integrated Sampler equipment consisted of a well designed settler, a vertically integrated sampler, and a submersible pump placed centrally in a vertical upward flow.1

The vertical integrated sampler has a 1/4” wide slot cut into a 6” diameter PVc pipe with a submersible pump piped from the VIS to the pump and then to the settler. The slot faces the channel flow as illustrated on page 12.

The Cross-Channel Sampling equipment included a cross-channel sampling probe, siphoning tubing, v-notch weir sample tank, and segregated sample point results containers.

The cross-channel sampling device has a 1” square inlet. each of the four sides of the square inlet are tapered to a thin edge so that it can pick up the grit layer flowing along the bottom or sides of the flume and guide the grit into the probe without resistance. cross-channel sampling uses siphoning, when the site allows, so that new velocities and currents are not introduced into the flume. The square inlet faces the channel flow as illustrated on page 12.

The details from this side-by-side grit test are found on page 11.

RESULTS: Type of Device & Sampling Point Location Significant

The specific details of the side-by-side grit device testing are detailed on the following pages of this publication, please read these pages for specifics on the testing. The results of this side-by-side grit device testing (ccS vs VIS) were:

Cross-Channel Sampling collected a total of 9616.9 grams of grit during 30 minutes of sampling at 70 mGd. The ccS showed a total grit removal efficiency of 99% for the grit removal equipment.

Vertical Integrated Sampler collected a total of 424 grams of grit after 306 minutes of sampling at 70 mGd at the same location within the flume as the ccS. The VIS showed a negative total grit removal efficiency. It showed the grit removal equipment produced more grit than it removed.

In conclusion , this side-by-side comparison demonstrates the type of sampling device and location of the sample point can significantly impact the results of a grit profile or grit test.

maintenance and operational costs by not having to operate and maintain multiple systems.

during their evaluation, Lawrence and moore visited other PISTa® installations and followed that up with a trip to Smith & Loveless’ factory in the Kansas city metropolitan area to confirm their leanings.“We visited (the) facility to help us be sure that the PISTa® system was one that would meet our needs,” Lawrence remarked. “The fact that I was impressed with representatives of Smith & Loveless further increased my comfort level with the PISTa® system.”

Such statements from veteran professionals like Lawrence are meaningful given his staff’s emphasis on doing the best job for his utility and its customers. For equipment suppliers like Smith

& Loveless, doing the best job means investing in product research and development and on-going field-testing while providing professional client assistance and project support on more than 2300 grit removal installations. The installation of the PISTa® 360™ grit removal system with patented V-Force Baffle™ at rogers Wastewater Plant, not only improved the plant’s grit removal efficiency to a high standard, but its unique design also allowed rogers Water utilities to save on capital and long-term operational costs. For all involved, it was a job well done. S

CROSS-CHANNEL SAMPLINGThe cross-channel Sampling probe was placed at 8 different sample points across the floor of the flume, 3 across the midsection of the flume and 1 at the top of the flume in the middle. each of these samples was run for 30 minutes and taken parallel to each other through the same access hatch across the entire width of the flume at a flow of 70 mGd. The hatch opening was located just after a 90 degree bend. The ccS sample points are seen to the right on the velocity profile diagram 1 and the results per sample point are noted in Figure 1 shown to the right.

after each sample was taken, it was individually marked by channel point to maintain the integrity of the collection, test procedure and subsequent tallying of removal efficiencies. The systematic process garners the most representative sample of actual grit not only at each point, but also throughout the entire waste stream of the flume.

The total of the 50, 70 and 100 mesh grit in the samples shown in Figure 1 was 9616.9 grams. There would have been even more grit collected if more points had been sampled. The actual 8639.4 grams of grit taken at the sample point on the floor of the flume on the inside turn of the bend is shown as a callout on chart 1.

Cross-Channel Sampling Probe

A. The lowest velocity in the flume is the bottom and

especially the bottom corners of the flume. This is where the highest level of friction loss occurs. as this is the lowest velocity within the flume, this is also where the majority of all grit mesh sizes travels in the flow due to grit’s specific gravity of 2.65±.

B.The ccS Probe design fits flat on the floor of the flume and flat in the corners of the flume. It is moved across the

floor of the flume at parallel sample points traversing from one side of the flume to the other side of the flume. Sample points can also be taken at other elevations within the flume with the specific results for that point reported.

C. The 1 inch square ccS probe minimally obstructs the flow when inserted for testing. The ccS probe does not

influence the flow in the flume or effect velocities.

D. Siphoning is used, when the site allows, so new currents and velocities are not introduced into the flume.

Vertical Integrated Sampler

A. The lowest flume velocities are the bottom corners,

where the highest level of friction loss occurs and where the majority of all grit travels in the flow. The VIS only samples the vertical column in the center.

B. When inserted for testing, the 6” VIS changes the

velocities in the flume. The velocity on each side of the VIS increases, causing the water level at the VIS point in the channel to drop. The small quantity of grit at the mid and upper elevations within the flume splits upstream of the sampler and the grit is pushed away from the VIS and towards the flume walls. Only a small quantity of grit remains in the center of the flume to enter the 1/4” wide slot in the VIS, making it hard for 20 mesh grit to enter.

C. The VIS rectangular slot opening is not tapered. all sample collected is from the same vertical column sample point.

The precise location of where the grit was collected from in the flume is inconclusive other than the center column of the flume.

D. The submersible pump for the VIS pumps between 300 and 450 gpm from the flume, which disturbs and changes

flume velocities and currents. This results in a large quantity of water in the sample and a minimal amount of grit. S

COMPARING SAMPLING DEVICES: Flume Flow Dynamics & Velocities

Whenever any object is inserted into a flume, it impacts the velocity, flow dynamics and currents within the flume. The goal for any grit sampling device is to create the least amount of disturbance at the sampling point so that the most representative sample of grit in the flume is captured. The grit sampling device must also be designed to pick up the grit from its moving location on the bottom and bottom corners of the flume. Two types of sampling devices are reviewed below. after years of submergence, you will be amazed at how long the wetted components of the PISTA® Grit chamber last. By wetted parts, we’re referring to all of the components submerged in the chamber 24/7. Smith & Loveless makes VERSAPOX®, the toughest two-part epoxy in the industry. However, in coastal areas, salt water can even penetrate this tough epoxy with time. Smith & Loveless offers these PISTA®

components that come in contact with water in both 304 or 316L stainless steel. If you live in a coastal region, upgrading these wetted parts from carbon steel to stainless steel is a must.

With 24/7 operation, even the best maintained systems will wear. When it is time to replace worn components on the internals of the PISTa® Grit chamber, remember there are three material options:

•Carbonsteel

•304stainlesssteel

•316Lstainlesssteel

While you’re looking at replacements, it’s also a good time to inquire about adding a Fluidizer or the new patented flow control baffles — the V-Force Baffles™. The flow control baffles can be installed in any 360 degree or model “a” PISTa® Grit chamber. They are especially beneficial if you experience consistently low flows in relation to your peak flow. The V-Force Baffles™ keep the velocities at the 2-2.5 cfs at the inlet of the PISTa® Grit chamber. The Fluidizer works well especially with the top mounted PISTa® Turbo Grit Pump. It keeps the grit from compacting because it continuously agitates the grit. While replacing worn components due to usage, it can be an excellent time to upgrade your system. S

The S&L PISTA® Grit concentrator washes the grit so effectively that up to 92% of the residual organics are washed off and taken out of the grit slurry. This leaves clean grit, free from the organics that can become an odor problem. The PISTA® Grit concentrator employs Ni-Hard, heavy-duty 1-1/4” thick construction in two available sizes: regular and high flow.

Let us help you:

• Manufacture an exact replacement of your originalPISTA® Grit concentrator design, or

•ManufacturethelatestPISTA® Grit concentrator design for retrofit into your grit removal system (either as an upgrade for your system or a replacement of an existing PISTA® Grit concentrator)

With either answer, the durable S&L PISTA® Grit concentrator features a large discharge orifice — 3-1/2” — effectively functioning as a primary grit dewatering system. If you don’t have a PISTA® Grit concentrator, look at improving your grit dewatering system today by adding it to your system.

Regular Flow PISTA® Grit Concentrator

upgrade your grit removal system with the addition of the PISTA® Grit Screw conveyor. many PISTA® Grit chamber owners have separator screens or grit carts. The PISTA® Grit Screw conveyor is superior to these and competitors’ grit conveyors.

While screens are an effective method of dewatering grit, particularly in smaller plants, they do have their limitations. They can be more maintenance intensive and not as effective in removing fine grit.

The PISTA® Grit Screw conveyor greatly reduces maintenance while offering increased grit removal and dryer grit. It is available in four sizes: models 12, 15, 17 & 24.

Pinch Valves and Sleeves

The top mounted PISTA® Turbo Grit Pump, like any other pump, needs some maintenance, so lets look at upgrades and maintenance tips. The number one thing you need to inspect is the vacuum priming system. The system works day in and day out, but also requires a few hours of maintenance annually.

First, install a PSI gauge in the ¼” NPT gauge port on the pinch valve. If this is set to 40-50 PSI, depending on temperature, you can monitor the system for bladder damage. This set point is adjustable by loosening the lock nut on the adjusting thumb wheel. To increase pressure, turn the knob in small increments clockwise. To decrease pressure, turn the knob counterclockwise. Adjust until designed pressure is achieved. Remember never to exceed 55 PSI. Next, install a compound gauge on the vacuum system. (For more information, see pages 20). Some fittings may have to be obtained at the hardware store. With these two gauges, your problem can be easily resolved, if and when it occurs. Remember you can convert from either flooded suction or airlift to a top mounted design.

Call your local representative for pricing.

The pinch valve is a vital part of the vacuum primed PISTA® Grit removal System. Smith & Loveless’ customer Service Team recommends having a spare Sleeve (Bladder) and Side Gasket or a complete spare Pinch Valve on hand.

Some facilities replace the Sleeve (bladder) when needed. Other facilities keep a complete spare Pinch Valve on hand. Whichever route you choose, it is always good to have one or the other on hand as a spare.

S&L’s customer Service Team also advises to check the Pinch Valve operation with a 0-60 PSI Pressure Gauge P/N 1L84e or 1L84H. Start the setting at 36 PSI and check the vacuum priming operation. Some bladders will require more PSI and some less. To insure longevity, set the pressure on the Pinch Valve at the lowest setting possible at which the PISTA® Turbo Grit Pump will prime. Then increase this pressure by 5 PSI. The 0-60 PSI Pressure Gauge is also a great diagnostic tool.

Quick reminder: It may take more PSI to seal the valve to allow the PISTa® Grit Pump to prime in the Winter.

Complete PISTA® Grit Removal, Handling & Dewatering System Flow Scheme

Influent enters flat-floor grit chamber hydraulically guided by coanda ramp, internal baffles and central, low-speed propeller. Forced vortex drives grit particles to center chamber floor and into lower grit hopper while organics and flow continue to plant.

1Grit from the concentrator deposits into the parallel (lamella) plate section of the S&L dewatering screw conveyor, which aids in retaining finer grit and reducing the stream’s turbulence and overflow rate.

Top-mounted or remote mounted unit pumps collected grit slurry (kept fluid by the PISTA® Grit Fluidizer) to the PISTA®’s second-stage grit washing and dewatering system while also providing proper head.

Smith & Loveless is ARRA compliant. Built in America. Built to Last.Founded in 1946 in Kansas City, Smith & Loveless Inc. manufactures 100% of its treatment and pumping systems at its U.S. Facilities in Lenexa, Kansas, Sunset Hills, Missouri and Norwalk, California. Included in this, Smith & Loveless manufactures its products utilizing American-produced goods and raw materials, including the following:

STEEL — Smith & Loveless procures several thousand tons of steel a year for the manufacture of its complete line of water and wastewater treatment and pumping systems – all of which comes from U.S. Steel Mills.

CASTINGS — We’re proud that all S&L steel castings come from U.S. foundries. Unlike many of our industry competitors, we don’t maintain any reliance on foreign foundries nor do we experience the delays often associated with such dependence.

MOTORS — All Smith & Loveless pumps utilize quality motors which come from a network of suppliers based in the United States.

What you need to know about ARRA

• No funds from ARRA may be used for public works projects unless the iron, steel and manufactured goods are produced in the U.S.

• Smith&Lovelessqualifiesunderthis“BuyAmerican”provisionas a manufacturer of American made products and systems

• All major components and raw materials used to manufacture our products originate in the U.S. and are assembled domestically.
