What is geography?Geography is  the science that deals with the

study of the Earth and its lands, features, inhabitants, and phenomena. A literal translation would be to describe or write about the Earth. Four historical traditions in geographical research are the spatial analysis of natural and human phenomena (geography as a study of distribution), area studies (places and regions), study of man-land relationship, and research in earth sciences.  Geography has been called 'the world discipline'. As "the bridge between the human and physical sciences," geography is divided into three main branches—human geography, physical geography and environmental geography.

What is physical geography? Physical geography is one of the three major subfields

of geography. Physical geography is that branch of natural science which deals with the study of processes and patterns in the natural environment like the atmosphere, biosphere and geosphere, as opposed to the cultural or built environment, the domain of human geography. Physical Geography can be divided into several sub-fields, as follows: 1.Geomorphology 2. Hydrology 3. Glaciology

4. Biogeograpy 5. Climatology 6.Meteorology 7. Pedology 8. Paleogeography 9. Coastal geography 10. Oceanography 11. Quaternary science 12. Landscape Ecology 13. Geomatics 14.

Environmental geography

What is human geography?Human geography is the second of the two major sub-fields

of the discipline of geography. Human geography is the study of human use and understanding of the world, the spatial differentiation and organization of human activity and its interrelationships with the physical environment. Human geography differs from physical geography mainly in that it has a greater focus on studying human activities and is more receptive to qualitative research methodologies. Broadly speaking, human geography is a social science discipline, while physical geography is an earth science. Human geography is concerned with the study of spatial patterns of interactions between human beings and their physical environment. The main fields of study in Human Geography focus around the core fields of:

1. Culture 2. Development 3. Economic 4. Health 5. Historical 6. Political 7. Population 8. Tourism 9. Urban

What is environmental geography? Environment geography is a branch of

geography that analyzes the spatial aspects of interactions between humans and the natural world. The branch bridges the divide between human and physical geography and thus requires an understanding of the dynamics of geology, meteorology, hydrology, biogeography, and geomorphology, as well as the ways in which human societies conceptualize the environment.

geography while a ‘polluted river’ as environmental geography.

Q2; In what ways our environment is polluted; protected?

Q3: Describe your locality using key words. Does it have more human features or physical features? Why?

Q4:Why do you think ICT is useful in geography? Q5:In what ways geography will help you

throughout your life? (6pts)Q6: Make a list of careers in which knowledge and
